That was very interesting. I had wondered about the talk about the Black Monk. Very thoughtful & informative yet entertaining. I would like to see more of these "shorts" in the further.
I remember a visit to the Cistercian monastery at Spring Bank when I was a novice at the Redemptorist novitiate back in 1975. The monks made cheese back than.
It’s so odd, I never knew about Nashotah House until reading a book about the Episcopal church. I’m from Wisconsin, and my grandma lived in Hartland, though is devoutly Roman Catholic, so she’d maybe have scoffed about the seminary anyways.
I thought black monks were monks that studied death or somethin there for the one black monk that was going to get killed told the devil help him write a book in one night so the devil did I know it's only a legend or story but it's so interesting
@@TimothyMatkin Dominicans, Franciscans, and Augustinians were historically friars, not monks, is this not the case in the Anglican Communion today? The Dominicans, Franciscans, and Carmelites traditionally were called Blackfriars, Greyfriars, and Whitefriars respectively whereas the White Monks were Cistercians and the Grey Monks were Tironensians. Augustinians were called Austin Friars. Benedictines seems to be the only thing unchanged?
Thank you for telling us the truth in regards to the legend of the black Monk.

I don't know why but you reminded me of Father Brown, the Gk Chesterton character. 😅

No, "black monks" wear black. They are Benedictines. White monks are Dominicans. Grey Monks are Franciscans. Brown Monks are Augustinians.
