my dad just passed away yesterday and this was his favorite song and his favorite band so i came back to listen to it.. it fit him and his mentality and personality perfectly... thank you for making it...
Coming from a musician I cant help but love admire and respect bands like this that are musically pure and loaded with talent and take risk making music that's properly produced and complicated and not selling out the sound of the band to suit a wider demographic.
Theres so much good actual music out there you just need to quit looking at the top 40. The Avett Brothers for starters. You want some good one to check out? I scour the internet for these kinds of alt country alt folk alt bluegrass bands
Modern day music stinks....yea yea yea. Ever think that maybe it’s you who stinks. Every generation goes through this. Most parents said the same exact thing to this kids and now look at you...,you can’t evolve where music has gone just like most Parents couldn’t....you are just Like Them
*Song Lyrics* Rise up, blinking in the sun Wrapped in invisible wire Something beautiful's gonna come Out from underneath our thumbs So let freedom vibrate, not ring 'Cause we can't listen to everyone Wanna hear ourselves sing My oh my, what a wonderful day We're having, we're having Why, oh why, are we looking for a way Outside it, outside it I see the green grass below I feel the warmth of the spring Is it beautiful (maybe not, maybe not) But maybe so But if it keeps us singing My oh my, what a wonderful day We're having, we're having Why, oh why, are we looking for a way Outside it, outside it How long, oh Lord, can you keep the whole world Spinning under our thumbs?
I heard this song a long time ago, loved it, then after a while, I forgot about it. Then my friends played it at our graduation ceremony on Wednesday. I cried then, and I don't think I'll ever be able to listen to this song again without at least tearing up-- not a bad thing. Now, I'm not sure if any of my classmates will ever see this, but if they do: Guys, it's been amazing growing up with you and seeing how you grew around me. We've all come a long way since first grade. You've all helped me grow as a person, and you've all helped me learn how to be a good person, and what it means to be a friend. I would be proud to call you my brothers and sisters. Since that first year when we all met each other, there hasn't been a single day where you guys failed to make me laugh. School started getting really, really tough for me after my parents split, and there were a lot of times when I felt like I couldn't make it because I wasn't good enough. You all made me realise that I'm selling myself short. I'm not sure what I'll do without you. It's going to be weird next year, going to a whole new school without my brothers and sisters there with me. I mean, my _actual_ brother will be there, but... you know what I mean. I've gotten so used to doing everything with you guys. But you made me strong, and I think maybe I can make it. I hope that Thursday wasn't the last that we'll all see of each other. I hope we can all keep in touch. I hope I get to see what you all grow into. I'm already proud. So everyone... I love you all so much, and good luck. Whatever mountain stands in your way, I know you'll be able to climb it. And once you're at the top, you'll probably scream the lyrics to a song from SpongeBob. Never stop being your weird, magnificent selves. -Lena
My brother told me about this band three days ago, mentioning this song and another. Since then I've listened to every album because I was so fascinated by it all. Bluegrass mixed with I don't even know, everything just works so well together. That's the sort of thing I want to create: a perfect blend.
I found Julep first and held that as the best, and when I saw your comment here I was skeptical.. but now this takes the cake for me too 😂 both are absolute gems!
I’ll just comment every time I listen to this song and give an anecdote: tonight. Something beautiful, out from underneath my thumb, and from some crazy southern plains storm, was a MY OH MY MOMENT. 👏⚡️👏⚡️ abra Marie photography keeps it golden
I've gotten in the habit of listening to something like this on my drives to school right before a big exam and during the walk to class because it does such a good job curing my anxiety for some reason. Just a helpful suggestion to those who have test anxiety lol.
this is simply stunningly good. this song has so many different excellent parts I am at a loss of what to say. you guys are absolutely brilliant. just got yourself one more fan :)
I don't know…probably old rusty RadioShack $10 microphones or something like that maybe? LOL! Sir, not all recordings are done as professionally as they should be or might be - even these days. I was validating the fact that as well as being absolutely excellent musicians, they paid attention and took care with the technical side, which I admire.
Record label record smabel… I've been in (and around) the business a while and I know that some even "professional" label recordings are sometimes mediocre at best.
I heard you guys on some morning tv show a few days ago. I haven't been able to stop listening to you since. I think you guys are FANTASTIC!! I really hope to hear more from you all.
Been following Chris for 15+ years, every group (and individually) has been a life changing, bone chilling, fantastic ride. So many talented people out there and each pairing couldn't be more perfect
Had the pleasure of seeing you guys at the Fillmore in San Francisco. One of the greatest shows of my life! Been listening to this album on repeat ever since. I can't wait until you come back out again! Each one of you is an incredible talent and yet you come together like a single instrument to become even better.
Came here from imgur (post about a cover of this song done by fellow imgurian). While this is not my kind of music (been a metalhead ever since) I must say this is very well done and has earworm quality. Keep up the good work, guys. Very big respect!

Someone explain to me what the image on the cover of this CD is all about. I don't quite understand it. Almost seems rather sadistic but I can't figure out what it's all about...

JJbOP : it’s a nice song 🎶 ( sorry for your loss. May he Rest In Peace.)
I am so sorry for you and your family's loss of your dad. I'm so glad you can connect with him through the music he loved. 💜

It makes me cry also.

Best one yet. I loved Julep but this song is just phenomenal.

Might be the perfect song.

I heard this on the radio this morning on my way to work.

I've gotten in the habit of listening to something like this on my drives to school right before a big exam and during the walk to class because it does such a good job curing my anxiety for some reason. Just a helpful suggestion to those who have test anxiety lol.
I listened to this song on a beautiful day while sitting inside looking at a screen.

Soo glad i found these guys!
This sounds like it was recorded with really good microphones - nice work :-)
+voicetube And mixed as well. But that performance... oh my. :)
what did you expect
I don't know…probably old rusty RadioShack $10 microphones or something like that maybe? LOL!
Sir, not all recordings are done as professionally as they should be or might be - even these days. I was validating the fact that as well as being absolutely excellent musicians, they paid attention and took care with the technical side, which I admire.
I mean they are signed by a record label... no reason it wouldn't be professionally done with a good mix.
Record label record smabel… I've been in (and around) the business a while and I know that some even "professional" label recordings are sometimes mediocre at best.
Best track yet :)

j'adore à la fois la mélodie et les paroles de cette chanson.
The way those vocals come in is amazing.
So good! I can't wait for the album
Simply Lovely. Excellent work all around.
This is long awaited for me. Does anyone else hear echoes of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young in this vocal?
Sort of, but even more so in the Apartment Sessions cover of this song.

Lyrics:
Rise up, blinking in the sun
Wrapped in invisible wire
Something beautiful's gonna come
Out from underneath our thumbs
So let freedom vibrate, not ring
'Cause we can't listen to everyone
Wanna hear ourselves sing
My oh my, what a wonderful day
We're having, we're having
Why, oh why, are we looking for a way
Outside it, outside it
I see the green grass below
I feel the warmth of the spring
Is it beautiful (maybe not, maybe not)
But maybe so
But if it keeps us singing
My oh my, what a wonderful day
We're having, we're having
Why, oh why, are we looking for a way
Outside it, outside it
How long, oh Lord, can you keep the whole world
Spinning under our thumbs?
Throwbacks to "Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground" in here at :30 and 3:06.
I thought I was the only one getting some Jack White frequencies from this song.
Happening!
Will be using my Tiny-tiny purse to buy this gem!
I love the chorus to this song. I wish it was played at least twice at the end; I feel too much tension still by the time the song finishes.
Really good stuff... but wait 'til you hear "Familiarity".... Incredible!
the best
Simpatico hmm Genialzinho
When are you coming to Toronto next!?
💖

♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Magritte and post-minimalist progressive bluegrass? sign me the fuck up
The band “Eggy” just covered this in Buffalo. Excellent cover and did justice to the original!

Thanks to Grant Sanderson (3Blue1Brown) I became aware of Punch Brothers.
The Lovers by René Magritte 1928
Someone explain to me what the image on the cover of this CD is all about. I don't quite understand it. Almost seems rather sadistic but I can't figure out what it's all about...

Please explain the meaning of the lyrics! I think I know, but I need to know what you guys were thinking when you wrote it!
PLEASE!!!
Most artist say the same thing. Music is open to interpretation.
