I just had my first job interview today for an ICT Operator position, and while I was preparing for it, I have watched a lot of your videos. This was one of the last ones and they have asked me what a MAC Address was and I was able to tell them where to find it because this video reminded me how to do it :Đ I'm so thankful for your channel!
Thanks. I’m 13 years old and I plan on getting into IT. I know a lot can change in 10-15 years but I figure it’s good to have experience. I’ve already worked with command prompt a ton and programmed a ton of random crap (text based games, etc.)
same dude i am trying to become an ethical hacker (white hat hacker) so first i am starting with it basic things and than programming and than ethical hacking its like building a house build a house(basic it things) add decorations(programming) add some electricity(ethical hacking) one by one i know its gonna take years to do it but i got a lot of times i never been a busy man (lazy man) and sorry for my shitty english :( i am really trying to fix my english i am Algerian polish and i just hope ill build this house down sorry for writing an entire paragraph XD
I know this video is a little old but I really needed this! I want to get into I.T but I've been really hesitant to try to learn since I'm really worried about how little I actually know about it. I needed a start and I feel like this was it. Thank you a ton!
@@Itcareerquestions I would like to see more vids on when to use certain command prompts such when an interface is down, node up, more along that nature.
I'm 16 And I want to be a IT expert but i need to work hard for that job/dream . and you are helping me alot . pretty excited for my dream job. thank you very much.
I loved your videos! I've watched about 8 of them, Im total entry level, actually below that and I have been struuuggling and I am so happy I found your videos you do an excellent job at breaking things down. THANK YOU. You've brought up all kinds of stuff I am in the process of needing to know and I needed these, thank you!
Zach, love these videos. Great information for the novice techie. I'm going for a degree in Cybersecurity, and I have had almost no previous IT experience. I've taken 4 of my classes so far, and the only thing I don't like is there isn't enough hands on material like this. We learned about ipconfig and pinging, but getting the statistics of how long the computer has been running and other information that you are showing in these videos is invaluable. Could you please start an entire series playlist that you do tutorials like this? I see on your channel you have a lot of useful information, but it would be really nice for you to have a dedicated playlist that really showcases and gets people learning some great information! Please!
Thank you so much for this lesson. I've been wondering for some time how to use the "black box" lol. I'll definitely be looking forward to more of these types of videos :)
Love your videos!! easy learning. Currently I am working in a temp position in helpdesk. I hope that the more of your videos I watch, the more chance of getting on fulltime
I don't know, but for some reason the net statistics srv doesn't work. It says The syntex of this command is: NEW STATISTICS [WORKSTATION] Does anyone know why?
This is cool! Thank you for this, even though I am not a graduate of IT, your videos really helped me a lot, and I am now part of IT team in my office, on my Job hehehe
Im trying to run a script on command line I created a folder called hello there.bat i try to open it thru CMD but i get a message saying can not find file ? what am i doing wrong
If you have a spare moment, could you please explain how to use command prompt to change the IP address of ONVIF IP cameras ? There is no software that works for generic Ip cameras, and I have Ip conflicts and port conflicts. Want to put cameras on Dahua 16 CH. XVR which can take 8 IP cameras.
hi, when u used net statistics srv command u got......statistics since 12/26/2015 1:09:05 AM . What's that mean? is it ur computer started on that day or what? I didn't understood clearly can u please explain
If your trying to see how long a computer has been on for can you do that remotely or only on the device that you running the command prompt from? Or would it be easier to remote assist and run command prompt from then?
had same paoblem, it is telling you to type the command as "net statistics workstation" type this and press enter you will get the desired results. Thank you
I have been fellowing your videos couple months, I subscribed thanks for providing information in IT field. Looking forward to my security+, but do I need strong networking like Cisco in order to be cyber security entry level or network+ is just good enough? Going orders security+ to CEH to finally Cissp when I have more experience level. Security+ is first my target in the cyber security field. I don’t know why but I’m able to hack in wireless and cmd to change someone’s admin can easily login your system using cmd prompt, is a lot to explain but I’m targeting cyber security field. I love to solve challenges it gets me excited in cyber security.
Just a question about the "net statistics srv" command, isn't a command just to check the following statistics shown below like the "No's system error, etc, etc.." not about how long the computer's been up because when I tried/tested it on my PC the statistic date that was stated was 22 days ago and I don't believe my computer's running that long since I rebooted so many time like I only use it for about 8-12 hrs. Maybe the statistic is just to check the statistic on errors and they get refreshed whenever the computer's data on statistics become full. Idk, correct me if I'm mistaken :)
Most (young) people don't have a clue what it was like in the early PC years (1980's). You booted your PC - from a floppy disk - and then you got the 'A:\'>' command prompt.... And that was it... Everything had to be typed at the command prompt. No fancy graphical user interfaces. No mouse..
when i use the command "net statistics srv" i get the following instead of what you got. is there a reason for this? C:\Users\(my name)>net statistics srv The syntax of this command is: NET STATISTICS [WORKSTATION] C:\Users\(my name)>

Great video that goes over the core fundamentals of the command prompt on windows. I'll make sure to watch the rest of the series as well.
I'm watching this exactly 4 years after it was published, what a coincidence.

Super, man! Thank you!
okay the statistics command- is telling you your computer what if you wanted to do another computer on the network...?
what prog language do i need to learn for recording music with a daw?
If I want to get into IT, should I purchase a laptop or desktop?
Both lol. Depends where your going to school.. ie: online, inclass.
so I can ask for a customer's IP address to see if there network is up and running?
Probably not a good idea. Its unlikely an average computer user is going to understand how to find their public IP address.
Most (young) people don't have a clue what it was like in the early PC years (1980's). You booted your PC - from a floppy disk - and then you got the 'A:\'>' command prompt.... And that was it... Everything had to be typed at the command prompt. No fancy graphical user interfaces. No mouse..

Hey, thanks!
Thank you so much ☹️❤️❤️❤️❤️
What if you want to know how long a computer has been up remotely?
i was trying to figure out the same thing
Thanks dude.
I've been interested in I.T. for years and am trying to go to school for it. Always been curious...is it true you can you can trouble shoot a computer over the internet?
You can troubleshoot some things over the Internet but that is also very limited. It really depends on what you're troubleshooting.
+PC Simplest what I mean is you as a programmer or I.T. specialist...can you trouble shoot another computer remotely?
+Chris Delacroix sometimes yes you can but again it really depends on what the issue is.
+PC Simplest oh..ok..I have more questions but now that I have a chance to ask can't think of them. I'll ask more later. Thank you for your reply.
OH MAN, ALOT OF STUFF!!!
How can I open a file using the cmd.exe??🤔🤔
Wait one sec I’m confused bc in 11 and started using cmd a lil while ago so if you ping a website , they’ll know you pinged it?
Of course. Web servers can see your IP address as well as if you ping. Realistically, nothing bad happens if you ping a website for a little bit.
I love a good Michigan accent 😍
