    A lot of people join my karate club with the comments, ‘at my last club we didn’t do much self defence’. This is an excellent demonstration but useless in the street. You see defence vs an oi zuki all the time in demos and in other clubs I visit. It never happens like that in the real world. I lived and breathed karate for much of my life but understand why it gets slagged off so much 😥. It needs to get real.

      This is a demonstration of technique, timing and kime ... its aim is NOT to show street fighting / self-defence applications ... However, that technique, timing and kime are the "instruments" we need in order to develop a good self-defence ... The "form" is the base and once You really master it and understand it, You can try to "adapt" it to a real situation ... Of course in most of traditional school this latter part of the practice is often forgetten, i agree ... but how many students do really master the basic technique ;-) ?

      Mag Di Sante Many thanks for your comments. I agree with you. My issue is that in many many clubs that I travel to, especially the very traditional ones, the sole focus is on perfecting the instrument, rather than leaning how to play it.

      @@MrPietrasantino I also agree with You and thank You for Your Kind answer ... Being myself a poor practicioner of traditional Shotokan Karate, i followed the school of Master Shirai during many, many years ... of course it is a great Master but i also realized that Karate should "evolve" and old school methods or practicing were sometimes "dangerous" for Your body's health ... WHen You'r young, everything is ok but as you reach Your 35-40, You can easily suffer of problems on Your back and/or knees, etc ... It happened to me, too ... now i'm 54 an i starting following a school where a traditional but at the same time "modern" kind of Shotokan is taught ... A good martial art should also take care of Your health ! Although i never was and i will never be interested in sport Karate, i think that we should combinine the modern methods of training and modern knowledge of human body and biomechanic to the tradition ... THIS is the correct way, imho, even in order to study effective self defence :-)

    Io la chiamerei piuttosto “disperazione organizzata” ed illusoria. Bastaaaaa. Con tutto il rispetto

    • @MagDiSante
      @MagDiSante 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      La DISPERAZIONE nasce in me (ed in molti altri) nel leggere commenti come questo, mi spiace : dopo tanti anni NON riuscite a comprendere che queste sono dimostrazioni di TECNICA e di PRINCIPI del Karate tradizionale (ma vale lo stesso per ogni arte marziale). NON viene mostrata l'applicazione nella difesa personale, che ovviamente SI BASA su quelle tecniche e su quei principi (ecco perché è tanto importante assimilarli e padroneggiarli) ma che altrettanto ovviamente sarà ben diversa da quanto mostrato in filmati come questo. Di fatto la difesa personale è una "conseguenza" del corretto apprendimento dell'arte marziale : NON è possibile apprenderla mediante esercizi schematici del tipo "se uno ti attacca così. tu rispondi in tal modo ...." dato che la realtà NON sarà MAI del tutto identica all'esercizio proposto nel DoJo/Palestra. Tuttavia, lo ripeto, se REALMENTE sono stati compresi, assimilati ed allenati i principi di cui sopra, da essi deriva l'acquisizione di un'abilità nel combattimento "reale" ... chiaramente si tratta di un percorso lungo e difficile, a cui pochi giungono a mio avviso.

      @@MagDiSante Non vale nemmeno la pena perdere fiato con questa gente... sono ignoranti oggi e resteranno ignoranti domani. Fa ridere che la stessa gente va in giro a dire che il Karate non funziona, ma il BJJ o l'MMA si... alla fine non importa. Eterna fedelta' al Maestro Shirai

    Quando il karate è inutile

    • @MagDiSante
      @MagDiSante 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Perché ? E quando "sarebbe utile" invece ? Questa è una dimostrazione, anzi un'OTTIMA dimostrazione di tecnica, kime e scelta del tempo ... se non si comprende questo credo che ogni commento risulti inutile e fuori luogo ...
