This is a real hidden beauty of Kashmir. Place also known as mini Niagara Falls of India. My words can not justify the beauty of the this place. This place is approx 70 kms away from Srinagar which means one has to spare a full day for this trip but then it is worth the effort. The place has small shops selling chips and cold drinks at the printed price which is rare in a tourist places. What I did not like was the rest rooms. It was awe full. I talked to few shop keepers and they told that the parking contractor was the contractor for upkeep of rest rooms as well. When I took up the matter of stinking rest rooms with the parking guy, I was told that the guy who cleans is not coming for last few days since tourists are very low means income from restrooms are not much. My suggestion to the tourism department is to insure clean rest rooms at all places. They might increase the ticket price , which at most of the places was Rs 24/- per person, by few rupees to ensure clean restrooms even when the tourists’ inflow is low.
Aharabal is a small hill station in the south-western part of Kashmir Valley in union territory of JK about 75 km from Srinagar. The waterfall located here is one of the magnificent waterfalls with emerald blue water flushing out from the top to flow into the Veshu river, a tributary of Jhelum. It is closer to Sopian area and falls in Kulgam.
The only eye sore here is the dirty clothes and waste which have been accumulated and create a barrier to the normal flow of water in its second fall pass through route. We visited the waterfall in September 2021 and spent about 2 hours in the waterfall area walking down from the entry gate to the viewing area. There were only a handful of local visitors to the waterfall. The path is well laid out for the safety of the visitors. The climb is also not very steep unlike many waterfalls in other places. All can easily visit the attraction. It is an wonderful place and all must visit the place when you are closer to Srinagar. It is a hidden beauty of Kashmir valley. We stayed in Aharbal for the night at JKTDC rest house located near the waterfall. I strongly recommend visit of the tourists to this well maintained place.
The height of the fall is much smaller but the force of the water and quantity is enough to scare you but need not to worry as you or your family are safe by a wall beyond which you can't proceed.
