The standard for a Muslim man was to be able to take care of more than one wife. Whether this happens or not is not the question, but in the past the capacity of a Muslim man was at this level. This creates trauma in a woman, or at the very least unrealistic expectations for the next husband, because women tend to - more than men - grab the best features of every partner they had and then project all of those best features onto the new "dream husband". I lost my respect for Muslim sisters and for our Imams. Most likely you married a non practising man by your own choice. All the signs must have been there but you ignored them. These things don't just happen out of nowhere.
