What's really funny is that this play is barely 800pp, making it seem like an absolute joke, in terms of pp. If he set that play today, it would get clipped a bit, but it wouldn't suspicious or even terribly surprising to most people. Sure, it's fast, and the map has some nasty patterns, but nothing that would be impossible today, clearly. This is truly something special about rhythm games, as the players improve to formerly seemingly inhuman levels.
I 100% agree with your sentiment. I feel like my perception is totally messed up, because FCing this map 3mod still seems unthinkable to me even though it's been done already. When I started playing this game, 500pp was the endgame, and 600pp was something I hadn't even considered. Show anyone from that era one of the countless 1,000pp plays we have now and 100% of people would've said it's completely impossible.
