    Seoul Local's Walking Tour Tip
Gangnam is commonly known as the richest neighborhood in Seoul. But there is Seongbuk-dong before Gangnam. Seongbuk-dong began to become known as a wealthy neighborhood in the 1970s when the heads of large corporations began to nest. Passing through the Samcheong Tunnel behind the presidential office Cheong Wa Dae, you will find a wealthy neighborhood in Seongbuk-dong. Among the heads of conglomerates are Hyundai Department Store Chairman, GS Group Chairman, Kyobo Life Insurance Chairman, Kyobo Bookstore CEO, Doosan Heavy Industries Chairman, Orion Group Chairman, Dongyang Group Chairman, and Namyang Dairy Chairman. The embassies of each country are located. There are also luxurious houses and villas. It is the richest village in Korea with several houses with more than $4.5 million in house prices.

Some of these houses look a bit worn down and not well maintained. Is this true for all "rich neighborhoods" in South Korea?

It looks like worn down and not maintained but those house price are 3,000,000 ~ 7,000,000 usd

@@sandisang I wasn't implying that the cost to purchase the houses might be low, I was asking if the condition of the houses (being covered in moss, dirt, having bland colors ect.) was the norm for wealthy areas in South Korea.

I read it somewhere that some of the wealthy people in Korea especially old money prefers it that way. It's a quite area so I don't think people there cares about that.
