August 14, 2022: "The God of Here & There" by Rev. Matthew Fillier

The God of Here & There. We all have a dream, a vision of how our life and the world is supposed to be. When that dream is interrupted, or it all falls apart, apathy and cynicism can creep into our worldview and suddenly we’re convinced God is neither here nor there. In a world in which mainstream culture sees religion as irrelevant at best and a cause of tremendous suffering at worst, in a world where truth and facts are both increasingly seen as subject to individual whim and whimsy, the prophet Jeremiah comes with a message of old that is forever new: Good news - ours is the God of both here AND there. God is both as close as our heartbeat and as far as the symphony of space seen through the eyes of James Webb. God is everywhere in between, and right here, all the time. God has a dream, for everyone who has been, and everyone who will be. The question is: how then shall we live?
