Hi there,i totally agree with you,i just don't like to use them so much. I rarely use them for population transfers but little else. Perhaps they are useful in far away cities with no real danger of attack. For garrisons i usually go for the weakest unit besides peasants. Warbands,Hastati,Militia Hoplites,etc.

Why don't you use peasants for the city garrison? It is both cheaper and more effective for public happiness.
