@JuicyJLee yes I'm aware of Durban as a city - didn't feel there was a need to mention it. But as a country there are several more in the diaspora with Indian populations larger than ours.

On Japanese-South African relations: South Africa typically exports metals (including precious metals) to Japan; we import cars and car components, since Toyota and similar cars are manufactured in SA, and we're all integrated into the supply chain. Relations are not hostile, but they're not particularly close; SA has other strategic interests than Asia, and aside from some aid programmes, Japan doesn't see Africa as being a top priority, really. Japan is kind of eclipsed by China in the local scene, so they have a limited ability to affect local outcomes. Japan proposed a trade deal some time back but SA wasn't interested; not worth the squeeze for them.

Maybe you should do a bit of homework before visiting a foreign city nevermind a country. Because you can not possibly understand what you are seeing. The history at least. Why would you visit Cape town in winter?
Be careful of zebra crossings in South Africa. That is where we stack up pedestrians to make them easier to knock over. Cars will not stop. Unless you're actually crossing a zebra crossing with a zebra. Then you're safe.

Be careful of crossing. We dodge between the cars -- never imagine cars will stop at a crosswalk. Indeed, I get irritated when cars do. I'll just time it. Indian food is HUGE in SA -- we have the largest Indian community in the world outside of India. Also, Cape Cuisine (South AFrican food) is the first fusion food in the world. Absolutely love it. Remember, we were founded because of the spice trade -- so we have the native fare of Africa paired with the spices from the East, the Malaysian influence (Malaysian slaves brought by the Dutch as cooks), Indian indentured labourers brought curries, the stodgy Dutch dishes married with the French Hugenot, German, Scandinavian, English; and all the peoples of the Mediterranean -- huge Portuguese, Italian, Greek, Lebanese, Jewish. It's a proper melting pot.
To some degree, but as local it does not seem too bad. Especially for 10 minutes and the rides you get, seems okay to me. Cape Town is the most expensive City in the SA.
