  • This presentation delves into religion and the American Civil War. Understanding religion and its importance for the Civil War era is too often a neglected topic in a period that is so often defined by cataclysmic political and military events.

Had the pleasure of joining Zach on a battle walk last year. Very knowledgeable and a great story teller.

As judgment for the sin of slavery, I always wondered why God didn't "loose the fateful lightning of his terrible swift sword" earlier than 1861. This presentation provides the answer: He was giving us the time to get it right, and there was progress early in the 1800's- so God forebeared. But when the church failed, it was judgment. Likewise, I have wondered how long God will forebear for the sin of abortion. Given the evil democrats new position of infanticide, and Republican powerlessness to stop them, I fear that the next "trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored" is not long in coming.

Its shocking the parallels between the slavery and abortion debates amongst Americans past and present. I wonder, like you, how long until the kettle boils over. How long will America tolerate another grievous evil in the name of personal freedom and profit.
