Nice, both quality albums... 🤘🤘 and both one man efforts. Pure Wrath is an outstanding export from Indonesia, and certainly deserves a lot more attention.
Hello Stefania, all my tracks are listed in the description of the video, and also at the start of each song in the video itself... but that ones is The Mournful Lamentation by Varanak from the album The Mournful Utterance. Hope that helps..... 🤘
Yeah agreed, Blackbraid is certainly one of my favorite finds from this year. No I hadn't heard of Edoma, just took a listen and I like! thanks for the recommendation 🤘
@@Melody-Metal Wow, surprised you haven't heard of them given your musical prowess! They're great really good, and only one records worth of stuff so easy to absorb. Cheers mate \m/
I try my best to get across music, but there's only so much time :) This is what has been great about starting this channel, you guys help me find new stuff too!!!
@@Melody-Metal It's fairly easy make music these days......home recording equipment has played a big part in that.....all the software is mind boggling. I play guitar, drums, bass etc. Do you play anything? You're right about time......I spent the whole of Monday listening to yours, and other playlists sampling new music. I've noticed a lot of 'melodic death metal' lists made by lots of 'tubers.
You're right there, the equipment you can buy as a consumer now makes recording much more accessible, as does platforms that allow you to self distribute. Its great as we are getting a lot more examples of the genre. I play bass myself. 🤘
Yes I can see the similarities, especially at the breakdown at 01:32:33. I really like what Skoggangr produced here... 8 years in the making ... huge effort. But thanks for reminding me again of the great band Forgotten Woods 🤘🤘🤘🤘
I hate to be negative here but this list depresses me. Black Metal has devolved into formula; every band sounds more or less the same, it is atrocious. It must take very devoted fans to pick out the minute subtelties that set apart one from another, but the feeling I get is that none of these artists really have anything to express apart from a strong desire to "be in a black metal band", to paratke in some form of "religious experience" based on the worship of the sacred blastbeats, the sacred trempicks and the sacred icy melodies, repeated over and over. This is complacent. This is lazy. The only band I can think of right now who did something worthwhile with the calssic BM template is Óreiða on their self-titled masterpiece. That one totally did it for me. Where others heard endless repetition, I heard beauty of unchanging earthly powers, way beyond human pettiness. Way beyond ego issues and desire for "recognition". Check it out, it is a wonderful experience. Anyway, I will let Nocturno Culto speak: "I think black metal is a very overused term - it has lost its power. I think it's all metal and the one thing that you can call black metal these days is probably our sound. Basically we just play metal". There you go 🤣 .
Thanks for your comment healthypickle. I understand where you are coming from. That is an interesting quote from Ted Skjellum. There is certainly merit in that, and reflects your concerns over where bands are seeing themselves. For me, I'm probably more into defining Black Metal by a particular sound, rather than an ideology. The tracks I select for a mix are ones that interest me from their atmosphere and quality of vocal. Certainly if you take a selection of black metal for a period (which is what my mixes are), there is a 'sound' that is common amongst them from where the genre is at present. When I look back at what I was into in the early 90's to now, the change in the genre is very apparent. Certainly, the bands that stand out over the decades are those that did something groundbreaking in their day, but the genre will always evolve its sound, otherwise it too would become formulaic and predictable. Hopefully you can still find the odd diamond in the rough that stands out to you, and brings the sound that you enjoy, if you keep listening to new releases.
That's what happens to any genre after some time. Trailblazers create it, then people experiment with it and finally the genre stays still in its "canon". Nothing new here, all subgenres are developed and too far from the classic BM to have anything in common. Just enjoy the sound
Good playlist!! 🤘😎🤘
Didn't expect to get some good music just by searching "Black Metal 2022"
Thanks Strand, hope you enjoy my other releases too 🤘🤘
So, you wanted to get bad music? 😂
Lol same 🤘🏻🤘🏻

Newb?
The bassline starting at the 2:00 is so unexpected, yet so delightful
The drums and bass really drive this track. Krieger and Neil Schneider did an amazing job here. It's an outstanding debut. 🤘🤘🤘🤘
