How? Goff barely throws the ball 5 yards past the line of scrimmage. He ranked 27 out of 32 in ypa. Goff is too fun shy to actually throw the ball and he’s got pretty terrible accuracy on throws 15+ yards.
Let’s look at next year when we actually have a QB on the roster
The only QB’s who constantly throw shorter are Lawrence, Darnold and Daniel Jones but Lawrence had a goof for a coach who sabotaged the season and his leading target was Marvin Jones. Not exactly riveting company to be in. It would be nice to go .500 and have something to build off of

@@Snodrr they didn't mess up the eval talent was never his problem nor was the ability to take the top off of the defence. He wasn't a great route runner nor a possession type receiver his hands were not as good as olave or Wilson. He was god for one or two catches per game which is what he is getting at bama btw. Smith ingiba who took his spot is much more of a possession type receiver with awesome hands. The eval was spot on. Very insightful video Scott. Agree that coming to Bama has really enhanced J. Williams NFL stock. The one weakness that Williams had at Ohio State was not about his breakaway, straight-on speed, it was his ability to run shorter routes and getting open in one on one coverage. This is why more of the passes and plays prioritized Olave and Wilson at Ohio State. For example, against Florida, the entire Bama wide receivers including Williams had a difficult time getting separation. However, I think this is something that Williams will develop and improve at Bama given Bama's reputation of player development.

Yeah Williams left Ohio State because Chris Olave decided to stay another year. Most likely Olave got bad draft info in 2021 so he wanted to stay to get his stock up. It worked. Williams was ahead of Smith-Njigba on the depth chart as far as I knew. Unless Williams didn't want to play slot. As you can see Smith-Njigba ended up with more catches and yardage than Wilson and Olave.

  • @stiggiestigwood3310

Well obviously his career wasn’t over. He was contributing plenty at OSU, was always the true burner in the group, but not at the top with the likes of Wilson, Olave, and Smith-Njigba, plus other studs in the WR group or soon to be rising in the pipeline. He made a career decision going to Bama, who’d lost their superstars to the draft, and it’s working out great for him. Happy for the kid.

What I'm seeing is the same thing I've seen in Columbus the last 3 years; the run game is what powers their offense. I'm not saying this just because I'm an Alabama fan but, Alabama's pass game was the most effective facet of their offense. Why? Because the WRs truly were dominant. You sorta wanted them to run the ball because those WRs and that passing offense were lethal! I don't see that from Ohio St. They have a QB who can throw the ball. I just don't see this "great" WR room. They're just like Oklahoma. A lot of highly rated WRs coming out of high school, but it's not really translating on the field. A good WR room, yea. A great or special one, nah. Don't see it. 🤷‍♂️

They struggled against terrible Minnesota and Tulsa teams (they actually FELL in the polls after beating Tulsa!) and the other team they played is 1-3 Akron from the Mid American Conference. So the competition they've played so far that SUCKS they didn't dominate, and the one team they played that was pretty good beat them in their house. Wilson is their leading WR this year and he has 23 recs., 391 yards, 3 TDs (5.75 recs. a game, 97 yards per, less than a TD per game). Olave has 18 recs. 255 yds. 3 TDs (4.5 recs a game, 63 yds per, less than a TD per). Smith-Njigba has 16 recs., 283 yds., 3 TDs. (4 recs., 70 yds. per, 0 TDs per). No other WR has MORE than 2 recs. Ruckert, their TE, has 6 catches for 81 yds. and ZERO TDs. Ever heard the old saying "You don't know what you got til it's gone"? Well, I think when Ohio State is seeing how well this kid is ballin' at Alabama they griping & kicking themselves for letting him get away.
ATTENTION ANYONE CURRENTLY BEING RECRUITED BY BAMA:
During this video, he makes mention that when they had their interview with Saban, that the first thing Saban mentioned was the things he needed to work on. And Jameson's father liked that. Now most kids don't like being told about their short comings. BUT you need to know the things you need to do better to be THAT FIRST ROUND PICK!!! And Nick Saban, being who he is, will tell you, yes you can do this, this & this. But you need to be able to do that too to make it to the next level. And that is what we are going to make you work on. He says it all the time, these student-athletes need to work on the things that are going to create value for themselves! Whether it's being that first rounder or getting your degree so you have value AFTER football. Getting a college degree is a massive achievement in my book! I don't have one & wish that I did. I started working at 15 years old, cuz our family needed the money.
When Saban won his 1st Natty at Alabama, he didn't have a whole bunch of 4☆ & 5☆ players. They were 3☆ with maybe some 4☆'s but it's the way he coaches that make players great. Any player has strengths & weaknesses. Saban is good at turning a player's weakness into a strength. Look at Najee Harris. If he had entered the 2019 draft, he would have been picked in maybe the 3rd round if he was lucky. Possibly 4th or 5th round cuz 2019 had a lot of RB's. But he decided he wanted to stay another year & work on his pass catching abilities. Best decision he could have made. In 2020 Najee Harris was Alabama's premier running back! AND if he wasn't needed as a blocker on passing downs, he became the check down receiver. I think he scored at least 5 or 6 TD's just being the check down man. But as far as creating value for himself, him waiting that extra year, I'm sure Najee Harris will get paid more this year alone, than he would have for his entire rookie contract had he entered the 2019 draft instead. He wouldn't really be getting paid well until he had done really well his first 4 years & then became a free agent.

No Ohio state fan is griping or salty about losing him, especially when you get the top WR in high school
3 out of the last 4 years. He was buried on the depth chart bc of not being able to run anything but deeper routs and a lack of taking player development seriously. Maybe Bama will fix these shortcomings. Great player and I hope he does well at Bama. The players that took his spot all showed better consistency in practice, yet they are not having Justin fields throw to them anymore, possibly one of the best OSU QBs to ever sling it. There will be a major drop off until the freshmen QBs grow up. You can’t act like you pulled one over on OSU, you simply got a backup player than was going to see reduced playing time. The WR room at OSU meant he was going to receive little to no playing time, as the new guys coming in were as good or better than he was except on maybe the deep balls. That is the one room at OSU, bc they have the top 1-2 best WR recruiters, that you will be given little to no leeway on development. Even recently, they brought in the 1, 4, and 6th ranked receivers just last year and next year it’s more of the same with 4 top 100 receivers coming in. It’s just one of those rooms OSU doesn’t tolerate a project recruit when they don’t have to. Nothing against Jameson, and I wish him the best of luck, but Bama was looking for a WR trying to take off the top of the D. I am happy to see him doing well, yet I also don’t miss him much, as he was inconsistent. I do Hope he does well though. OSU just didn’t need him much, and I can’t blame him for transferring. Good luck to you son.

Wow. That's the most intelligent post I've seen from an OSU fan so far in this comment section. However, considering OSU's current inconsistencies I'd think you'd be disappointed by the players that took his spot for not performing well enough. If the shoe was on the other foot, so to speak, I would be upset about it. But it is still early in the season & a lot of these teams are young teams & are still trying to find their leaders & captains & trying to gel as a team with one another. I'm very surprised Bama is doing as well as they are. I mean they only lost 6 1st rounders to the NFL, & then a 2nd & 3rd rounder. That's 8 really good players that have to get replaced. Plus 3 of them were in the Heisman discussion. It would have maybe been 4 if Waddle hadn't got hurt. But being robbed of Waddle, I think that is what pushed Smith to excel even more. I think, that his mindset after Waddle got hurt was to be "that guy" for Mac Jones. You know, that guy that manages to get open for a first down on 3rd & long. Comes back for the ball if he sees his qb in trouble. But I digress. That was a LOT of leadership on that team. Leaders that had grown into their positions for some time. They may have some leaders, but a lot of them haven't had a lot of time to grow into that role.

@@kennethdeanmiller7324 Any other position group leaving, I would be disappointed, but I have complete and total faith in our ability to recruit WRs. 4 already committed for next year. What concerns me is the youth in the defense. This is a down year for everyone, and almost every team is rebuilding after losing so much. It’s kind of a toss up this year, but I don’t have much hope for my team this time. We played 17 true freshmen in last game, which is great for experience, but I don’t have a lot of hope that we will get it together by the end of the season. I say play the young guys, see how much experience you can get them by the end of the season, and see what you have to build on.

yeah, quite the opposite. OSU's WR room is very stacked at the moment. Garrett Wilson & Chris Olave are currently out performing Jameson, which Is kind of shocking considering the amount Jameson gets focused the ball, meanwhile OSU's offense is very balanced. JSN, who beat out Jameson, Is currently on par with him. not to mention true freshman Emeka Egbuka, who already looks like he can potentially be better than Jameson as well. If there's one position that OSU is NOT struggling with, that would be WR. I mean you gotta remember, there's only one football on the field. Just simply not enough to go around when you have a large amount of stars. Expect maybe another WR or 2 to transfer from OSU in the coming years, It's inevitable

If you don’t throw him the ball, he can’t show you how good he is and if you are not going to let him play then why recruit him? Nobody has time to sit and wait for the opportunity to shine and Alabama didn’t waist any time letting him.
