I’ve listened to lots of Agatha Christie stories but in my opinion this is far better than the usual run-of-the-mill… It keeps you guessing right to the end

This, like most of her work is pretty far-fetched, but very enjoyable. Listen for foreshadowing throughout. Agatha Christie's first novel was a Poirot Mystery. It was THE MYSTERIOUS AFFAIR AT STYLES, which was published in 1920. This, along with most of her other work has NEVER gone out of print. That's pretty amazing!
Fun dialog! Laura and Julian accusing each other and yet being aghast that one would think the other did it! Two peas in a pod! Love Agatha Christie’s characterizations. She must have studied people a lot and seemingly accurately.
I am honored to have you visit and comment, and I am very happy that you enjoyed the novel, such are the novels of Agatha Christie that make us eager and addicted to follow them until the end,
Could be this 1981 BBC Wo0rld Service production. Jillie Meers (Laura Warwick), Alexander Johns (Michael Starkwedder), Diana Bishop (Miss Bennett), Elizabeth Lindsay (Jan Warwick), Margot Boyd (Mrs Warwick), Anthony Hyde (Henry Agell), Sion Probert (Sgt. Cadwaller), Michael Spice (Inspector Thomas) & Sean Arnold (Julian Farrar).
I'm very curious to know what he might have done with the victim's gun. He took it but how did he get rid of it? And why didn't anybody notice the switcheroo. The victim sounded like someone who'd initial his proud collection of weaponry. Other than that it was a pretty good story til the end.
There may be a box in the upper right hand corner of the screen that has CC inside it. Click on that and a pop up at bottom of the screen “captions on” announcement. Just another suggestion to try if these settings on the screen are available.
@@jeanneratterman4174 thank you! Yes, I did actually see that, but it doesn’t seem to line up correctly. Hugh Frasier should be the main character, and he’s not listed at all, in her comment, so I wonder if there’s more than one production out there… Man, I searched and searched, the day I made the comment, and I couldn’t find ANYTHING, except to verify that it’s Hugh Frasier. (Hugh is Hercule Poirot’s sidekick, in the David Suchet series of Poirot movies. So I recognized his voice immediately, and I did verify that he did play the main part in this.)
One of my favourite AC stories - so convoluted ...sooo AC!!
What top-notch storytelling.. 👏👍 Great work!
Goosbumps! Bravo! The Queen of Crime!!!!
This one is a bit like “Crooked House”. But that twist at the end was sensational and completely unexpected! Bravo Agatha! 👏👏👏
Oooh the twists and turns of this one 😂 I had no idea until the last minute. What a brilliant story ❤
The queen of storytelling strikes again! Well told tale, and nice to listen to.
This is great. Listening late in the dark as I couldn't sleep. No idea why it came in my suggestions, but glad it did. Thanks.
Same thing happened to me. Couldn’t sleep and this popped up on my feed. So happy it did.
One of the many reasons I ♥️TH-cam so much x

So exciting Writer and narator tanks to share it with us
34:40, actor turns into Cary Grant, haha.
Awesome story ❤️
That was great! Thank you for posting.
Michael sounds like the actor who played Dr Quimper in The 4:50 from Paddington on TV.
Beautiful novel...

I love your English accent. How can I find your playlists as yours is the only voice I like. Arifs is not a voice I like.

Not a short story - a PLAY first staged 1958.
Didn't see that coming!!!.🤔😂🇬🇧
The stranger's voice has to be Ralph Fiennes!
Does anyone know where to find the cast? I'm having no luck anywhere...

Was this based on a true story?? Does anyone know?
predictable ending...but the story was good...
Is it Judy Dench who’s taking the wife’s part?
No.
Sounds like Gemma Jones, to me. I’m trying to find out too.
Scroll up to Annette Deane’s inquiry about the cast. There is reply which may help answer your query.
