- Tyrant may be a new name in the fixed gear scene, but there's familiar faces behind them; faces that have been building and riding fixed gear for decades. Although the Tyrant Legacy may not be at the top of people's minds when it comes to steel fixed gear framesets, it's a fantastic bike (with a few quirks). Here's my review of the Tyrant Legacy.

Great review. I love the raw in gloss and it has the appearance of deep olive green. Different light conditions alter the tone too. The raw mat, looks like raw steel as apposed to any greenish tones.
Just a reminder, Zach's frame is a 58cm @ 8lbs 3 oz. Anyone around 5'6" - 5"9" +/- depending on inseam, reach, torso, will be riding a smaller lighter frame.
I've got the 52cm and it's approximately 5.5 - 6 lbs (rough estimate with bathroom scales). Tyrant assisted me with a correct size choice over the phone. Great company and great customer service.

I love the look of the bike. The raw steel with gold looks sick. Happy with my geriatric steamroller though and will probably just keep putting money into better components.

Rack bosses are great for the those of us who commute with clothes for when we get to our workplace. As to shaved, well some of us were shaved by nature at 25, yes I do have to take care of the sides. If frame builders are going to stay with clear coated raw steel they need to look at the Yasujiro Nudity Pro. The brazing really makes it stand out.
Review the new State fixed 4130. The new ones come with 38 for some strange reason. Want your opinion on it.

I'm in no way a metal fabricator, but I would guess the 31.6 seat tube on the frame is necessary to create the cutout.

I have the same bike, I went with all titanium components (Tito titanium on Ali express) and affinity pro crank (49t x 16t x 1/8) with a black brooks saddle and gold chain and miche x press wheel set, I get compliments every time out, absolutely love the frame and the build that I did, it’s my favourite out of my 3 bikes so far, the beastie will be my next build

Looking good Zach! Do you feel like someone can/should have a fixed gear in a really hilly city? I really want one but it sounds torturous.
Look at it this way, you'll be forced to get fitter and stronger. I'd say get one and stick with it for 6-12 months. After that amount of time, you'll know if it really is/isn't for you.
Zach once lived in San Francisco…. Commuted by bike. Take what you want with that information
maybe a lighter gear ratio will give a better experience also

I think both "looks" were/are cool. Change is good and this current cut is definitely, function over fashion, with no maintenance.

I've always had toe overlap on my fixed rides. Geometry is typically meant for track. Are there fixed frame options (in small) without overlap? Wabi? State?
You would need to change the geometry. When I designed the Leader 725 it had non due to the longer top tube but it requires a stem 30mm smaller.
