General facts about the show: - The last name Watterson is a reference to famous cartoonist Bill Watterson. - Gumball was originally going to be a blue dog, but it was only a concept. He was then changed to a black cat, because they're known for bad luck, but having a dark color black didn't fit well with the backgrounds they already got for the show. He was changed to a light blue color that Ben Bocquelet (the creator) liked. - The name Anais is named after Anais Bocquelet (Ben Bocquelet's younger sister). Anais Bocquelet works as a computer programmer for EA Games. - Gumball is a blue cat, just like his mom, but shares some characteristics of his dad. Meanwhile, Anais is a pink bunny, just like her dad, but shares some characteristics of her mom. - The Watterson house is actually a real house located in Vallejo, California. - Elmore Junior High is designed after Abraham Lincoln High School located in San Francisco, California. - Mr. Robinson's design is a reference to a Muppet. - The Amazing World of Gumball was originally pitched to Adult Swim, but they turned it down, because it was too cute and sad. gumball is such a goated show, it starts off as funny but as the seasons go on it becomes an absolute masterpiece. this is one of those shows you absolutely need to watch beginning to end because it "grows with its audience"

The Robinson's are kinda based on Muppets which is why they look like fabric. My favorite detail is that when Mr. Robinson is mad he kinda floats when he's shaking around, it mimics how a really puppet looks whenever they're made to act angry. There is a lot of attention to detail with how so many different characters look in this show. They all look and act unique. Don't think you're "looking too hard into things" because there is a lot more then meets the eye

Let me explain the premise to you the creator of the series worked on short animations commercial things of that nature he was asked to come up with a cartoon for Cartoon Network. He found his file box full of different characters. He created over the years, decided to combine everything into one the backgrounds you’re looking is a real town in California now the show is actually made in England. The kids are actual real children, and they only created at six seasons and the show was so popular that they have a movie into works. It was supposed to come out right about now, but they decided to push it back in working on a seventh season right now and they’re supposed to drop it somewhere at this year or early next year or mid next year, they don’t quite know yet.
I’m an absolute sucker for Gumball, and since the series stopped for a while, I’m watching people experience the magic that is this show in the meantime. As you’ve noticed, yes, Darwin is part of their family, and he’s basically a brother to Gumball. What I’ve also noticed is that the characters stay the same age the entire time, but the technologies and humor/memes/references shift throughout the 2010s. The shenanigans get more hectic as the series goes on, and I’m super glad you’re enjoying it. Cheers!
Speaking of 'adult' jokes in Gumball, the entire third episode (The Third) was a big adult joke that flies over a lot of peoples' heads. The whole thing was a spoof on couples trying to rekindle their marriage by opening up their relationship. Initially they're just gonna bring in a third for a threesome type deal, but then one of them gets jealous of the third person and branches things off into an open relationship and finding their own person to sleep with. If you watch the episode with that in mind (and notice that sleepover = sex), it goes from funny to a riot XD Darwin: "But you played Dodge or Dare with someone else..." Gumball: "aww, it didn't mean anything!" Even the opening bit is a cliche for the scenario, all their usual 'games' being boring then realizing maybe it's not the games, maybe it's US. That was the episode that made me realize I was in for something special. And also the episode that made me realize I'm corrupt because not many people notice the theme...
The initial plan for this show was supposed to be a school for cancelled kids show charaters, which is why the art style is always different and why theres so many unique character designs, inculding mixing 3D and 2D animation styles.

What a coincidence, i literally just got back into this shoe. Its honwstly one of my favorte shows, youll love it(i havent watched the reaction yet so idk what your opinion was on it yet)
Gravity Falls, Owl House and this are my trifecta of perfect modern cartoons. And Season 1 is the WEAKEST season. That’s how you KNOW you’re in for a ride.
@@MikeyVenture It's not a bad season at all. Just don't get TOO attached to how certain characters like Tobias, Mr. Small, and even Gumball and Darwin act. Season 2 and onward the characters change a good bit in design, voice and personality. Season 1 was like a testing grounds.
I feel bad being subscribed but not actually watching any videos because I myself haven't even watched what you're reacting to. So it's nice that you started watching this show because I've actually seen almost all of it.
When this was new I wasn't really a fan of mixed media I was like "oh this has no identity they must be a bunch of hacks trying to make some money out of whatever assets they had" also the humor seemed to lean 2 ways, super silly; we need some hyperkinetic stuff on screen type of humor or cringe stuff that would pander to and or be used to portray the uglier, more annoying side of the weebs in a similar way to how there's no single truly good "dnd episode" even when the writers mean well and even partake on the hobby Now back in the day I couldn't have expressed all of this this way because it's mostly vocab and concepts that I have acquired since and or were not a thing (also because I didn't speak English at the time) but With the years, I've realized that there's actually a lot of effort and care to put into it to make something fun, and they weren't just hacks trying to make money out of a child attention sinkhole, but most importantly a lot of the commentary based comedy flew over my head which usually didn't happen and when it did I was aware that it was happening, not here though, it could be because the dub totally fumbled the bag translating and localizing the more adult humor that wasn't intrinsically visual or maybe I just wasn't giving the show a fair chance to make me laugh in the same way I wasn't acknowledging the effort that it would take to animate the way they do and still make it look somewhat cohesive
