Katie, congratulations on 8k subscribers. Well deserved. We are so fortunate in this community to have your creative and generous talent. I may never stitch some of the glorious pieces that you provide, but the opportunity to see them and let your stitching fill my soul is such a gift. Have a wonderful time at Summer School. Please give Jean a big hug from me. Take care, my friend.
Oh my goodness how exciting for you!!!!! 8000 subscribers is quite an accomplishment. I loved everything you said about journals and keeping record of your Stitching. It is such a passion of mine as well. Your finishes are gorgeous and the Britomart Sampler!!!! oh my oh my ❤❤❤ it was such a pleasure to have you join me today while I stitched.😊
Happy, happy, happy 8 thousand! And thanks for the heads-up about the Lowry stand. I've been looking at it for months and now I'm ready to treat myself to one. Maybe an early Christmas present 😁
You couldn't do better - probably the best stitching purchase I've ever made after Cabinet of Curiosities. The Lowery is a fantastic product and I can't recommend it highly enough. I've tested out other stands and IMO they just don't compare.
Congratulations on a fabulous FT milestone… really love how beautifully the Britomart sampler is coming along. It’s going to be the hottest chart of the year you decide to release it 😊
Congratulations on 8k subscribers! 🎉 The Britomart Sampler is so beautiful! I am looking forward to taking your class. 😊 Have a wonderful time at the Attic! Happy Stitching & Shopping! 😂
Britomart looks fantastic. Congrats on reaching 8,000 subscribers. Have a wonderful time at The Attic! Look forward to hearing all about it. Take care, and happy stitching, Arleen
Beautiful video! Love the progress on Flag Thief. The shading on the Britomart is going to be amazing, the whole sampler is amazing. Whiskers is so adorable. Your slate frame is gorgeous, I just love the color of the wood. Congratulations to 8k, that’s awesome and I’m sure everyone is always happy to see your videos and I can’t thank you enough for all your sharing your love of stitching.
Obviously I'm biased but I vote for the purple heart because FABULOUS. They do also have a lot of amazing wood choices that are beautiful but less in your face than the purple heart. Or Ecclesiastical Sewing is a source for classic slate frames ready to ship here in the US, saves on shipping. I haven't purchased from them - this is the first frame I've bought in many years - but Mary Corbet recommends them.
The light blue was the right choice. The darker blue was way, way too heavy. Nice to get another take on that slate frame; I've been contemplating that once ever since Mary Corbet mentioned it. I'd like to hear how it works out once you start using it. I haven't tried four-sided lacing; so far I've attached my fabric to the webbing on my frame, using a modified version of Tricia's instructions. But four-sided lacing seems like it would be faster and easier. I'm looking forward to hearing about Summer School!
Four sided lacing is awesome - once you try it you'll never go back. I used to stitch to the twill tape as well. It is much faster, but it also gives you much more control - you can adjust the tension at any point on the fabric and I find that even more useful than the ease of setup
Zowie that sampler is so close and so beautiful! Yeah, that one border needs the green. And I love the verse, though I laughed out loud at "Spenser isn't everyone's cup of tea" -- understatement of the year! Your otter is adorable. Maybe he should hang out under the tree? Dunno. Happy summer school!
Fair - the more accurate statement probably would have been 'since only lunatics love Spenser, an alternate verse is included with the chart'!!!!! And yes, the border needs adjusting. It looked perfect before the letters started going in and then promptly looked ridiculously unbalanced!
TF Woodcraft is the best!! I’m actually friends with the artisans behind that shop, who are active in the SCA in my area. I have at least four of their frames and their stand!
That would explain all the other historic embroidery tools on their site - I was really interested in the range of products they had, much more varied than you usually see. The frame is a stunner, I'm so pleased with it.
Congratulations on 8k subscribers! No wonder as you and your work are fabulous! Your Britomart has my heart and I’ve so enjoyed your journey. Is it possible to demonstrate how you use your Lowery stand? Enjoy Summer School!
Thank you! The Lowery is a side clamp, so you just clamp your frame (or hoop, or whatever) in a comfortable position for you. Where the clamp attaches to the arm there's a little L shaped screw, which you loosen to either adjust the angle of the frame, or release to flip the frame over and access the back of the work. That's really all there is to it - it's a fabulous product because it's so intuitive and easy to use. Or at least I think so, everyone's different.
I love your notebook with the little photos recording your work Katie. Thank you for the information about frames and your set up. Could I please ask what do you use to bind your linen and whether you would consider doing a lacing tutorial. Have fun at summer school.
@@katiestrachanembroidery Thank you Katie. Of course I didn't stop to think about your classes. Would love to do one at some point but it just isn't the right time for me just now. Your videos and tutorials are much appreciated and very much looked forward to.
That Britomart sampler is to die for! The colors are just scrumptious! Just a thought…Do you think whiskers might need a red sequin on the holly leaves? 😉
There's a red and a white in the kit! You might have to get a little creative with the maple leaf (some backstitch?) but you could definitely stitch a Canadian flag.
Yes, absolutely! Thomas is the upcoming fall kit release - probably early October? I have all materials in hand already, I just have to put the kits together.

Wonderful video and beautiful stitching! Congrats on 8000 subscribers and I hope your trip to the attic is memorable.
Thank you so much - it certainly was!
Another enjoyable floss tube. Britomart Sampler is gorgeous! The shading is exquisite! I like how you have laced it to the millennium frame.
Thank you so much! I've had a lot of fun with the colors on this one, trying to get the shading and balance of colors just right

Have a wonderful summer school adventure- what lucky students you’ll teach. Looking forward to your next video - all in your time. !! Keep cool 😎.
Thank you so much! I'll be cowering inside - I loathe heat!!! Only the Attic and Jean could tempt me into Arizona, especially in summer!

Have a wonderful time at the attic!
Thank you! I'm so excited
I was looking at a slate frame from Jenny Adin-Christie but that purple heart!!! Hard decision! Can’t wait for class! 😊

I would love to do the flag thief but I’m canadian and would love to do the canadian flag! 😢

Is Thomas going to be released this year? I’ve been anxiously waiting since you showed the final result last fall. Have fun in AZ!
Yes, absolutely! Thomas is the upcoming fall kit release - probably early October? I have all materials in hand already, I just have to put the kits together.
What colors did you use in Cardinal Kin?
The conversion is exclusive to the kit, which is still available if you're interested!
