Man, that brings back a lot of memories. I was a kid in Poland rooting for Andrew. The whole country was staying awake deep into the night to watch his fights. It was such a disappointment when he DQ'd himself both those times with Bowe, and then to watch his losses against Lewis and Tyson (that one eventually declared NC). Andrew became deeply ingrained into the culture at the time and still remains something of an icon, of course a flawed one.

As a Brit I found myself at first bemused then laughing constantly at the antics of Cocknocker Golota, he had Bowe on toast in both fights then thought to himself "it's not enough to just destroy the man" and decided to start bowling for middle wicket. As for Bowe, he was always always over rated, what these commentators never mention is that little Herbie Hide knocked him down in that fight, a small dancing heavyweight knocked him down. What Lennox did to Andrew is about the same as what he would have done to Bowe, the clues were already there in the Olympic final which I also watched live, Bowe was genuinely terrified of Lennox.

When Andrew Golota was not able to go low to the nuts, Lennox quickly nocked the daylight out of him in the first round and the game was over. Golata VS Lamon Brewster was one of the most brutal knockouts ever. Saw it live on HBO couldn’t believe what I saw. Finally saw it again on TH-cam and it’s just as brutal.
Bowe was never the same after this fight. Golota damaged him seriously and finished his career and actually life, which is very sad. After the fight Bowe was talking like he did not know where he is and what just happened. After the years Tyson mentioned that he was scared of Golota for what he did to Bowe, that is why he foul him from the very beginning with headbutts.
He fouls when he gets in trouble, doesn't matter if he's ahead on points if he's about to get knocked out. He's got no character and no heart, it's simple.
If it is his nature, then why he did this only to Bowe and two times in a row? Golota was in trouble many times and nothing like this happened. Golota is explaining this saying he was nearly unconscious because of tiredness and fight rush, which I do not believe. Boxing is dirty in the ring and most of all out of the ring and we will never know the truth. BTW do you think Tyson has no heart and character? He bit people's ears, using headbutts, doing brawls in the ring as routine. Not mentioning he is a rapist.
"But things did not end with that one embrace; Golota BIT his opponent's shoulder. In round 5, he knocked out Pou'ha, but the WBC did not like the cannibal attack by the Pole. A year later, Andrew beat the head of Dannell Nicholson with such zeal, that it was a miracle he did not lose his boxing license." Lol, this video is loaded with gems like this. Love it.
I always had high regard for Lewis and that first round knockout of Golota was pretty cool. He knew that Golota was going to go low, so he probably trained to take him out early. After the fight, you can see how much emotion Lewis had. Bowe had words with Lewis, as shown in the clip, but you don't make a mockery of boxing with that low blow stuff. Just wondering why Bowe didn't go low too. I guess that's why there has to be some sort of control over whether a guy like Golota can fight professionally, with this nasty way of fighting. That was a 3 combination punch to the Bowe's genitals in the 2nd fight. Really messed up.
In the Polish Army Golota was instructed to "smash nuts" all day. he would endlessly destroy and smash nuts, sometimes even using Polish Tank. The Polish Army used to feed Walnuts to the troops, and Golota became expert at nut smashing. Golota also learned to Box in the Army and it was allowed to punch low to the nuts to disable the enemy. Even as a Pro Boxer Golota's primary instinct and endless training took over and he used his combination punches to smash the nuts until obliterated.
Andrew Golota didn't have any Discipline when he was Hurt or in Trouble😱🥊 Plus Lennox Lewis did to Andrew Golota in One Round Riddick Bowe couldn't Do🥊
@Chuck Anya Sometimes he boxed, other times he went in with the intention of KO'ing an opponent, Golota, Ruddock, Botha, Tucker, Grant, Rahman (rematch) Briggs etc all faced a version of Lennox that wanted to KO them early.
Golota was drugged in the fight with Lewis. He sued the doctor who injected him with a drug that made him disoriented before the fight. He won the lawsuit for $1 Million. That’s why
frank maxham I don’t know about that but I know that Mike Tyson was DQ’d after the fight for testing for Marijuana cause he said he was nervous before the fight & it would calm him. He also did Steroids, which he admitted to using a fake penis to pass drug test like it was nothing. So I can’t say it was a fair fight also. But Lewis looked like he was on steroids a bit too, but idk.
And one day, we will all say to our grandsons: "This what you watch now is not a boxing... In my time, those were the boxers. There was a fighter, back in 90s, Golota, no one could punch a dick the way he did. That was art."
Maybe he didn't become a champion, but the sheer intensity of a fight, those low blows, and a resulting scandal is what made those two fights so memorable and exciting to watch and they are still as exciting to watch as they were those many years ago
I remember a polish collegue told the night before the Tyson VS Golota fight that that would be the end of the black heavyweight boxers. The day after the fight when I saw him he was speechless. We all know how he went down.

Golota was drugged in the fight with Lewis. He sued the doctor who injected him with a drug that made him disoriented before the fight. He won the lawsuit for $1 Million.
ah, the good old 1980s/1990s, when ALL drugs were allowed, ALL the time... it couldn't last but it gave us some of the most relentless & insane savagery in the history of boxing.
Drugs are not the thing that make the fighter great. It is in your genetics, in your heart. Steroids like super soldier serums that told in the first captain America film ``Good, becomes great; bad, becomes worse.`` For example Evander was already one of the greatest cruiserweight of all time when he wasn`t juicing. He juiced, and become even stronger, durable and greater. Shannon was already was an explosive fellow with unbelievable punching power. He was still lacking stamina but his explosiveness, chin and punching power became even greater. For example if I juiced and trained hard, could I defeat super middleweights which is would be my fighting weight? No man, no way. It is in your heart, your physic, your genetics. That is why some fighters are remembered forever.
Golota was a very talented boxer, but also a very aggressive and frustrated character at the time (everyone around treated him like shit/money-making machine when he was at crossroads in his troubled life) - Bowe and Tyson were no exception.
There is no doubt that Bowe was intimidated by the prospect of having to fight Lennox Lewis. Beneath the false bravado, Bowe knew he couldn't beat him so he instead fought bums and has beens just to keep a majority share of the title until Holyfield grabbed it back.
Riddick Bowe, trained and focused was a formidable fighter. It’s a shame he lacked the desire and took too much punishment in his wars with Holyfield to attain his potential. A Lewis-Bowe fight was the gift the boxing world never received.
The Bowe that fought Holyfield would have killed Lewis. After that nope. Those wars he had with Evander were off the chart. Whats even more scary is that Evander had about 10 more wars after that. EH was a beast of a boxer.

Until now people all over the world wonder why? Golota was winning both fights, the fight was almost over
It was in his character, that's it. But to go below the belt with that amount of force he was clearly doing it to cause long lasting or permanent damage. No place in the ring for him, a dangerously unstable individual.
@@jackspring7709 I really doubt it, having been in a fight like that, that he "clearly" was doing it
@@EK-ck2xf What? Its obvious he was doing that on purpose. He's a professional boxer with access to the best trainers in the business, I don't know what level of boxing you did but he clearly knew and was well trained and accurate enough to know what he was doing.
It's pretty amazing that he had the both fights in the bag, he was winning and than was DQ
what a nutcase
Pun intended?
When Andrew Golota was not able to go low to the nuts, Lennox quickly nocked the daylight out of him in the first round and the game was over. To me, Golota kept going with hitting the nuts when fighting Bowe because he was afraid sooner or later Bowe was going to knock him down and wanted to weaken him. I wonder how many of the matches he won in his career were because he was using such illegal and mean punches to weaken his opponents. I have never seen anyone do that repeatedley in the history of boxing. What a coward he was.
Watch the following two interesting videos Golota vs Tyson and Golota vs Grant. This dude can't fight a real fight when he is not able to blow the nuts although in the fight with Grant it looks like he had attempted. He quit both fights when the going gets tough.

Lewis was a classy fighter. I don't know why he never enjoyed the same popularity as some of the other fighters of the day.
Because he was not American. He wiped the floor with everyone (except Holyfield) at the time and still didn't get much credit.
@boxing fan uk But it wasn't the same ass whooping he dished out to the likes of Grant, Briggs and Tyson :)
He was also not as exciting to watch. He kept a measured pace, and was never explosive like Tyson for example.
It was indeed scandalous! It also was a hell of a spectacle and a lot of fun to watch! I would have prefered to see Lennox Lewis end Bowe's career though :-)
That's one of the sweetest things I've ever seen. Well done Lennox.
Hell of a match. Lewis was an boxing animal what quick and excellent boxer.
Im just over 6' 3", I was there when Lewis fought his first fight in Vegas, He walked passed and smiled, I was looking up at him, hes huge!! He was amazing! Intelligent sheer barbarian.
@@TheFunkhouser I couldnt stand Lewis but to deny how good he was is criminal. And smart for a boxer. The fact he didnt try to stay too long like so many others and end up like Bowe speaks to his high IQ. When he fought Vitali you could literally see him the cartoon message box over his head while he was getting his butt whipped going yeah thats it I want no more of how big these guys are getting and I am out lol
One thing is for sure riddick bowe could have never beat Lennox Lewis, never.
after see this video how the guy think to do this .. he dont love he own sport or what? and in boxing they dont have a jackstrap
1993 Bowe could whoop anyone
Depends when they would have had their fight. Bowe looked real strong early on, and Lewis dominated later on.
This is beautifully put together, thank you
Had to wait until 16:47 to watch a real champion destroy Golota, but it was worth it.

How the hell did Golota not lose his license...
Crazy isnt it
they secretly wanted him to hit bowe in the balls
0:45 gotta say Lennox's composure was admirable under the circumstances.
Big Daddy Bowe is one of the greatest boxers of all time💯
In the Polish Army Golota was instructed to "smash nuts" all day. he would endlessly destroy and smash nuts, sometimes even using Polish Tank.
Thank you Lennox Lewis.

@Chuck Anya Sometimes he boxed, other times he went in with the intention of KO'ing an opponent, Golota, Ruddock, Botha, Tucker, Grant, Rahman (rematch) Briggs etc all faced a version of Lennox that wanted to KO them early.

frank maxham I don’t know about that but I know that Mike Tyson was DQ’d after the fight for testing for Marijuana cause he said he was nervous before the fight & it would calm him.

Lennox bookends this piece with some sanity.
Golota is iconic. For good or bad, he will always be a boxing icon. Boxing needs more "misfits" like him. Unfortunately, those days are long gone.
Yep, Golota was a nutjob but it made him interesting. Never knew what to expect from him. Plus he was a very talented and exciting fighter.
Maybe he didn't become a champion, but the sheer intensity of a fight, those low blows, and a resulting scandal is what made those two fights so memorable and exciting to watch and they are still as exciting to watch as they were those many years ago

Think evander holyfield took all of the drugs back then lol
@@issizplays2187 don't change the fact that in the 80s/90s boxers were juiced to the gills.
