Thank you for loving Wagakki Band.
I watched this concert live from the audience.
It was a very valuable experience. For the first time, I felt that two hours had passed in an instant, and I longed for the concert to last forever.
Amy came to Japan this year and she took a photo with Yuko Suzuka, the vocalist of this band.
I hope to experience a concert where Wagakki Band and Amy are on the same stage again.

Your pronunciation of Wagakki is near perfect. 👍The harp-like instrument is called a Koto. I think it would take too long for Amy to learn the full song in Japanese, but I'm only speculating. She did sing a little bit in Japanese though! They did also perform a full song together at the same concert, "Bring Me To Life" by Evanescence, where both Amy and Yuko sang throughout. I recommend the music video to their song "Phony", it is a vocaloid cover just like Senbonzakura we heard here.

Another highly recommended song is Hakushu Kassai, this is a live performance.

I find that Japanese music always has a positive, uplifting or comforting tone even if the music itself or the lyrics are heavy, which is a stark contrast to our western music.

Thank you so much. I always want to try BUT fear that I would offend someone by how I say certain words. The Koto looks pretty cool and I plan on looking it up and listening to the instrument to hear just that without anything else going on. Soon I will react to Bring Me To Life by Wagakki and Amy.

      Excuse me, I was wrong.
It's Yuko Suzuhana, not Yuko Suzuka.
I hope I am not bothering you.

    About Wagakki Band's instruments
"WA" means Japan. "GAKKI" is a musical instrument.
*4 types of WAGAKKI are used in WAGAKKI-BAND.
    ----------------
Many Japanese musical instruments have a history of over 1000 years. One of the characteristics of Japanese musical instruments is that, despite the passage of time, the shapes and playing methods of the instruments have not changed much since their inception. This is in contrast to European instruments, which were constantly improving and evolving their instruments.
    (1) "KOTO" (a large, flat instrument about 6 feet long)
The ancestors of "KOTO" came to Japan from China about 1,300 years ago. The body is made of high-density paulownia wood. Similar to stringed instruments such as violins, the sound resonates through the wavy grooves carved inside the body. The strings are made of silk thread. The performer plays the strings with a nail called ``KOTOZUME'' on his fingertip. A standard koto uses 13 strings. A 17-string koto is also used, but WAGAKKI-BAND's IBUKURO plays the largest 25-string KOTO.
    (2) “Shamisen” (banjo-like instrument)
In general, the shamisen is often used as an accompaniment instrument for ballads and pop-style traditional songs. However, WAGAKKI-BAND's BENI plays a special version of the shamisen called the "Tsugaru Shamisen." The Tsugaru shamisen has a faster, more powerful sound and a unique performance style than other shamisen.
The reason this style was created is related to the fact that TSUGARU-SHAMISEN was born in the extremely cold region of northern Japan. Visually impaired people living in harsh natural environments earned income and saved their lives by singing and performing for others. They have created this unique musical style that is exciting and shocking.
The shamisen is played with special claws called BACHI. The three strings are silk threads. I think that most of the sheets on the shamisen body are now made of synthetic leather. However, dog skin is originally used (sometimes performers who require a delicate sound use shamisen made of thinner cat skin).
    (3) “Wadaiko”
"WA (Japan)" + "TAIKO (drums)" = "WATAIKO". And the pronunciation changes from "WATAIKO" to "WADAIKO".
Wadaiko, like Shamisen, has evolved uniquely throughout Japan, and has a variety of shapes and playing methods.
There is a band called "Kodo" which is famous as a taiko group in Japan. They tour the world with Japanese taiko performances. If you are interested in WADAIKO, we recommend listening to Kodo performances. There are also many videos uploaded on TH-cam. Try searching for "KODO".
    (4) "SHAKUHACHI" (a flute-like bamboo instrument)
Until about 60 to 70 years ago, in Japan, units of length called "Shaku" and "Sun" were used. ("sun" sounds like a shortened version of "soon")
"1-shaku" is 30.3cm. "1-sun" is 3.03 cm. "Hachi" is the number "8". The average length of "SHAKUHACHI" was "1-shaku and 8-sun (approximately 56 cm)", so the "shaku and 8" part became the name of the instrument.
The material is cut from the base of bamboo. It is a simple structure that only requires the necessary finger holes after drying the material and removing the distortion.
It is not easy to produce complex sounds with a simple instrument. Shakuhachi is said to be one of the most difficult Japanese instruments to master. There is a word in Japanese that expresses this.
“It takes three years of practice to control the intensity of sound by moving the head and neck subtly.”
    and
"It takes eight years of training to be able to control your fingers accurately and produce good sounds."
