The first time I heard it I liked it, the second time I liked it a little more, and the third time it became my favorite Bee Gees song. It's a perfect song, Robin's voice, the melody, the arrangements, the lyrics, the aura of sadness. Simply a hidden gem. Greetings from Argentina 😘
Another beautiful song by Robin Gibb. His voice is UNIQUE. He just happens to be my favorite BeeGee. I LOVE ❤️ everything Robin sings. Thank you Chad for playing this song.
Robin’s voice is like from another world!! One of a kind!! Although I love the harmonies from all three, Robin is my fave BG… His vibrato was so unique… so happy you play their music for us that still love their music…. RIP Andy, Mo and Robin!! Barry going alone, but I imagine the loneliness is unbearable at times…sigh..
Robin's voice is unexplainable and I agree that it is hard to describe to people who haven't heard it (Do they even exist?) His vocals here are sublime and the song is so melodic. I'm looking forward to hearing more from this album. Another favourite of mine.....ok so they're all my favourite!!! Thank you Chad.
Love this song the first time I heard it thanks to you Chad. You do a great job reacting to the BeeGees. You are right-it is hard to explain Robin’s voice. He didn’t get the credit he deserved. Love ❤️ it.
Many of the songs Robin had a hand in writing are almost foreboding. Like he's trying to comfort those he must leave behind when he's gone. That voice is not of this earth. I saw a photo of Robin that had earth angel in the upper corner. He truly had the voice of an angel and that my friend is a sound that can't be described. I love Robin. He was responsible for basically putting the Bee Gees on the map with I Started a Joke and Massachusetts at least in this country. They should have used him and Mo more. Thanks for this one. I found it awhile ago and it's part of my play list. If you get a chance react to Days of Wine and Roses by Robin. Great pics of the Bee Gees from their beginning and family shots. Just beautiful.
Thanks for suggesting 'Days Of Wine And Roses'. I love it. The lyrics and music sound so full of regret and longing for what's been lost and can't be found again. A true Robin- type ballad!!
Well, Robin had a hand in writing the very vast majority of Bee Gee songs be they upbeat or melancholy or in between. Barry had the notion that Robin's voice was only suited to slow ballads but whether Robin agreed all the time, I can't say. He certainly did upbeat songs in his solo work and did them beautifully.
Sad song but beautiful at the same time! I love Barry's voice in everything he sings but Robin's voice is a great change! His voice is haunting in a lot of his songs. Wonderful!!! Thanks Chad!
Wow beautiful song! First time to hear this. The lyrics really speak to me after what I’ve been through. Bringing me to tears. Sometimes life is difficult. Longest night. Fabulous vocals. Like you said some don’t get it unless they are a true fan. Listening to this again and I really LOVE this song. Robins’ voice takes me someplace else. Beautiful
Great reaction chad. I understand your lack of words for the ethereal tone of Robins voice here. I listened to Ken Tamplins description of Robins unique voice, and he mentions his omissions at the end of his words.. He keeps the sound open, not finishing his words abruptly, and this unique ability holds our interest and makes his renditions emotional, haunting and make us plead for more.
Chad, great reaction to Robin's hauntingly beautiful lead. I'm so excited that you're focusing on "E.S.P." this weekend. All the songs are just fabulous. I'm anxiously waiting for our next reaction, Chad, because I know you won't disappoint us!
What a lovey song, Robin shines as usual with his stunning voice 🤩You need to react to I will be there by Robin and harmonies outstanding as always ❤️🏴
Yes- definitely something about Robin’s voice. My son is autistic (more Forrest Gump than Rainman) and his favorite BeeGees songs I play are ones Robin sings. He stops like he has to pay complete attention & asks for his favorites. All Robin.
Beautiful song, Robin's voice remarkable for sure. My favorite for Robin is Don't fall in love with me Baby. I love the Bee Gees they are so very talented and beautiful too. Great reaction Chad!!!
Thanks Chad you do a great job. You inspired me to dig out my old vinyls. I have so many BG's albums love all of them. As much as I enjoy all the voices Robin is my hands down favorite.
Nice, cold, but sunny morning here. I just listened to E*S*P this week, so I was ready for this, and still Robin reeled me in with that wonderful cry in his voice at "But you can't let go" near the beginning. I hear what you are saying about describing Rob's voice. To me, it's like wakeful waves of sadness in this one. If you are this sad - you just wish you were asleep. I know it technically is not supposed to have a chorus, but the passages at "We don't Talk About it...." are choruses for me. Something gorgeous to me is at the line "I got nobody, my bird has flown." There is a deep voice singing bass right there. Sounds like Mo did the high harmonies, and layered in some low ones too. E*S*P is one where they really went digital with programming, and session players. I am so lucky, I've got a copy right here with me. Thanks, Chad.
I really love this song. Another great performance by Robin. Great falsetto by Barry. Awsome! Can I place a request for 'Shape of things to come' by the Bee Gees? And 'Sound of love' from their Odessa album? Thanks!
Hi Chad. After hearing your reaction to this song by Robin l found that l had to get the ESP CD. Had to settle for a used one but. “The Longest Night” l could play over and over. What an amazing voice that Robin has. Simply loved ROBIN ❤️❤️❤️
There is so much diversity in The Bee Gees style of music it's amazing!!! They were blessed with talent head and shoulder above the rest. Thanks for featuring this song, I enjoyed it very much, a great review too Chad.
I love this. It’s the type of song that I just like playing quietly in the background, same as blue Island when I’m working on computer or reading. Real chill out vibe. I wish Robins voice had been used in more leads, it sounds great when Barry accompanies him with just a fade in, fade out falsetto. Very breathy too from Barry. Another great reaction video Chad. And perhaps one that wouldn’t instantly come to mind when thinking BeeGees, however should definitely be given an ear. Thank you Chad. 🎤🎶
Wow!!! I love ❤️ this song. Never heard it before. Robin’s voice is unexplainable. You are so right Chad. I could listen to Robin singing all day and night. Beautiful song.
How did I miss one of my own requests?? 🤣 Anyway, thanks for reacting to this lovely, haunting song. You always do a wonderful job of trying to describe Robin's other-world voice. And you are right, I don't think words can do it justice. I remember reading once that Dwina said sometimes she would awaken to this soft songbird voice in the other room. She called him her songbird. I have thought how very lucky she was to receive that gift in her life. I know she knows it.
Almost a perfect song. I think it gets drawn out just a little at the end. But it touches somewhere down deep in me. Those are the best kind of songs IMHO
It's great, I so much love the E.S.P. album on nearly every single note. On this particular song, we have Robin on most of the leadvocals, unique as usual. Barry doing some falsetto but also he's singing the 'in your darkest hour' line with chestvoice. Maurice is singing bassvocals on 'we don't talk about it...........', no chorus but near to it. All in all, a very fine work of them.
I could have bet you would recognize those bass vocals layered in. That filled in the sound beautifully. I would call the section at "We don't talk about it" a chorus too.
@@janicetrimmell6897 Clear to hear, for ears like ours, Janice! Maurice had the widest range of them in singing, down do bass, up to tenor and also falsetto. He's been the one, bringing their three-part-harmony choruses to perfection. Great bass-vocals of him are also to hear for excample on the song 'Paradise', Chad made a reaction to it some month's ago. Also on a song called 'The Lord', which is to find on the 'Cucumber Castle' album (1970, Bee Gees without Robin). But let me say one thing: The perfect leadsingers were just Barry and Robin, because their voices had more uniqueness and impact.
@@francisxray9900 "Be Who You Are," and "Paradise" are my favorites from "Living Eyes." On "Paradise" I love the groove, and that all the brothers are singing the whole song, whether in unison or when they break into harmony. For a while during the summer I listened to it most every day. What I was thinking of this morning was "Dimensions" from "High Civilization." Mo's lower range is on display. It suits him perfectly with with the heavy percussion. There are others, it's just the harmony is so perfect - we don't always isolate the low range.
@@janicetrimmell6897 'Paradise' is paradise, I agree. Also I love 'Dimensions' but lil more 'Omega Man', from their album 'Size Isn't Everything'. Great Maurice leads.
🥀Amazing Song I love it! Thanks for posting this video it's something to be very proud of with the Brothers Bee Gees.I love them more than words can say they did so many song's putting their whole being into each lyric into every song they ever did🥀☝️🥀
Wasn't Robin ALWAYS distracted, LOL? He lived on another geometric plane with infinite heights. When he was staring off into space you just knew he was somewhere else and the best part is that he could take us with him. His family said (and it's inscribed on their memorial in Redcliffe under most photos of Robin) something to the effect, still talking and singing to himself and always thinking.
Yes, he always had a faraway look in his eye, like he was preoccupied with something, but he never missed a queue or a note such was his talent. There's a video on TH-cam of the boys singing Wedding day live in a studio( it's that one where the guy takes requests). Anyways when it comes to Robin's solo which was alternated with Barry, my goodness he was in a bad mood. There was no twinkle in his eye, not one smile. When he finished the last note of his part, he stood back from the mic looking totally pissed off, he definitely had something bothering him, there was a lot of hand twisting going on. I'd love for you to find it, see if you agree. I know he once said on the Larry King show that he was in good health, but some days he woke up miserable🤣🤣. Maybe that was one of those days. Would like your opinions on this....
@@paulakivelehan.beegeesme4076 - I actually loved the "Live by Request" concert on A&E if that's the one you are referring to. I thought they were more lively, happy and interacting well with the audience. The host also addresses all of them and not just Barry. I'll have to watch again. I know the others called him "Mattress Back Gibb" because he wasn't a morning person and they had to drag him out of bed to be on time. He would still be putting on his socks when they were ready to go.
@@susieq9801. I thought Barry looked pissed off throughout the Live By Request A&E special. The host addressed a lot of questions directly to Robin and the crowd gave Robin huge applause. Barry never liked his ‘back-up singers’ getting attention.

Hi Chad, please can you advise about the hbo bee gees documentary “how can you mend a broken heart?” Is it possible to react to it or no way coz of the copyrights and so? Thx in advance and keep up the good work I so much enjoy watching your videos 👍🏻
@@natashyahendrix2 thank you 🙏🏻, I do hope it’s possible to see this reaction, I just LOVE the bee gees and so much respect and appreciate their talents and life story, they do deserve all admiration and recognition.
I don’t think it would be possible unless Chad had a lot of time to edit and only show the bits he liked. We wouldn’t expect him to play the whole documentary, pausing to give a reaction. What you’re really asking for is a review, not a reaction. I bought it from Amazon when it first came out and I must admit, that whilst enjoyable with other musicians and friends featuring with their thoughts, it wasn’t as good as Kepple Road. The only difference being Maurice and Robin were still alive to take part and it was nice to see the three brothers contributing, sad when it was only Barry in How can you mend a broken heart? The biopic is currently going into production, due to be released in cinemas in 2023. Barry and Robins son RJ are executive producers, Kenneth Branagh will direct. Ben Elton is writing the screenplay and the only name released in the cast is Bradley Cooper who has been signed to play Barry. In my opinion, I have no idea how Ben is going to get ball content in. It apparently starts just after the fever period. So much went on for the Beegees after this. I would hate for the story to be rushed. My thoughts are it would be better released as a miniseries on a good tv channel accessible to most countries. I hope they get the boys just right, I would hate for it to end up as a parody of them. Obviously their miming skills will have to be on point as any performance included will be the actual BeeGees soundtracks. Good luck to all involved. 🤞🏻
@@paulakivelehan.beegeesme4076 well, I had miniseries of reaction in my mind by Chad to be honest! 🙂 but of course you are right it would be hard to do it in one session. As for the new movie, I don’t know but do you think Cooper fits as the gorgeous Barry??? I admit his good looking and all but Barry is something else 🤓!!! Also the period that the movie covers would neglect a very significant time of the bee gees early years which had the most huge impact on them, right? Anyways I’ll wait for the movie and hope it becomes a huge blockbuster, the bee gees deserve so ❤️.
@@paulakivelehan.beegeesme4076 - Yes Paula, agree a miniseries would be best. Why after the fever period? 🥴 The best part of their story is their impoverished youth, delinquency and struggles to success. Have to admit I'm not looking forward to this movie. As I mentioned to you before, Blake Jenner would be far better for Barry IMO and where will they find a Robin lookalike? I don't care for Rami Malek in that role. 😕 I still think maybe Keith Urban or Mathew McConaughey? I also think Spencer would be a better authority on his dad than RJ. While they were close, Spencer was around so much earlier by over 10 years.

I really enjoyed that song. Is it just me, or do they use the phrase “in my/your/our/the darkest night” in a lot of songs?
Excellent harmony as always . Very good song but not one of my favs . BEE GEES FOREVER AND EVER. Good analysis Chad. Love your channel.
Hi Chad, please can you advise about the hbo bee gees documentary “how can you mend a broken heart?” Is it possible to react to it or no way coz of the copyrights and so?
Thx in advance and keep up the good work I so much enjoy watching your videos 👍🏻
Great suggestion.
Robin's voice sounds like backstreet boys
