my theory about this kind of packing for business in the cold is to bring a bunch of thin merino and cashmere sweaters for layering; you get more warmth and more visual options than wearing a couple of thick sweaters for several days
Lol! Trinny, I am from England and now in Washington State Pacific North West. Seriously you do NOT need that many layers. Uniqlo thermal, one layer of clothing and a coat is all you need, gloves and a hat if you are doing a lot of walking, boots are spot on.
Trinny, I live in Montreal and I can tell you, you don’t need that many layers. Your faux fur is good with a top and a thermal underneath. It’s -19C here in the mornings and this is how we dress when we leave the house to wait for the bus.
I think many of us Canadians will be shaking our heads at how she planned outfits and layers! Walking to work in -19 and I go for warm down coat, mittens and boots over a suit or dress and done!
@@sallykins3800she is amazing! I met her at a TT Canada event in Toronto and she made each and every one of us feel special! So generous of her time, energy and affection!
It's not the Arctic Circle ... a good coat, hat and gloves is all you need. In NYC you go from taxi to office to hotel. One outfit had 6 layers. It was -23C the other day where I live and I had a wool sweater and a long uniglo puffer coat, hat, gloves.
If you have cashmere jumpers, they are the most effective way to keep warm and they don't take up a lot of space. Don't forget a wool scarf and gloves. I would cut down on the jewelry.
I was thinking the same. Merino base layer, then some blouse or other and a chunky cashmere jumper, plus a coat and voila, light and warm. Once you wear a hat and your feet are warm, neg 13 is not a problem.
I explained to everyone in my friend and family group to wear cashmere to stay warm. They did not believe me until they started wearing cashmere and they all said "wow, you were right". Cashmere is the answer.
Couldn’t agree more - you’ll leave the hotel, hop into a cab and then into an office - 6 layers are way too much! You’re not sitting in an outdoor stadium for a game, you’re on the move…you body temp will match that
I think you look great in black! And I knew you would get it all in! The amount of clothes is necessary because people expect you to make an effort! It is part of your branding! Good for you!
One easy tip for looking smart indoors and not overheated, is what we do in Scandinavia - the puffer skirt. It usually has a zipper on one or two sides, so it’s easy to get in and out of. It is not thick puffer, it is meant to fit under your jacket and be an extension of it. It is the BEST garment ever!
❤You need a 100% cashmere 2 piece beige or neutral loungewear set to travel warm, chic and snuggly...love you, Trinny! Much love and admiration from Tampa❤❤❤❤
I have that yellow Zara sweater and love it. I would only take 1 coat, not the 2 extra Uniqlo coats, if I had on that many layers I would feel like I could not move. haha.... Lets see an update of what you actually wore and did you buy anything????
so i’ve been focusing on improving my overall health, and i finally got that doctor’s appointment i’d been putting off. the results came back better than expected-my cholesterol is down, my energy’s up, and i just feel so much more in tune with myself. it’s like everything just clicked once i started putting my energy towards health and well-being. i think it’s thanks to Vibrations of Manifestation by Alex Lane, which i read after seeing it mentioned so often in comments. it really helped me shift my mindset and manifest the health i was craving.
My way when I visit Canada in -20-35C is to wear a Canada Goose I invested in and inside just whatever I want.I can't stand wearing many layers-onion as we say it in Greece.Love you Trinny you are such an inspiration 🧿🩵
Yep, down or down alternative is a must! When I saw her jacket, I laughed! I’m only in MA in the US, but we’ve been -10c to -20c here the last few weeks and it’s all about layers!! And good ones at that! Cutie estimate doesn’t totally go out the window, but I’m rather be warm and safe than fashion forward when it’s -10c, especially when I have to walk the dog in it!
You may not need to layer so much. A long wool coat, gloves, scarf, hat, and warm boots will be your outdoor outfit. A seasonal outfit to wear for meetings underneath, strip off the outerwear indoors and you’re set for indoors and outdoors. When it’s cold in NYC, it’s dry and not English cold.
I really love your taste and style always so chic. My faves would be the *xbagy* leather backpack and the Swarovski pave diamond ring so gorg. Thank you for your recommendations.
I'm assuming that most of your New York visit is comprised of indoor activities. New Yorkers take taxis, uber, lyft from place to place. A short few steps from the door of the vehicle to the door of the building. You will survive quite well without attempting to include a stylish version of a wilderness survival wardrobe. Your selected pieces are stylish but the repeated use of dark colors and sequined accessories does make your choices blur into a similar look.
-18 C here in northern USA. I think your boots will get ruined in the salt, snow and ice. Your ideas, although fashionable, are impractical for the fierce winter here. Thermals are your best purchase. Jewelry witl be frozen and hurt your skin as it adheres to it. Most women wear certain clothes to work and then change into office wear once there. Maybe you could buy snow boots once you arrive.
I find this very interesting. I can't even imagine that kind of cold! Living and dressing in South Africa is on the more mild side. I own 1 coat which I didnt even wear last winter.

Where was this video when I needed it 8 years ago and I was traveling for work every day - only allowed 1 office day a week!!! Thanks for this, Trinny. Well done as always. ❤
Pure SILK thermals are the way to go. Extremely lightweight but very warm. You need to handle with care, but tbh they perform so well I'd still use the ones with holes if I needed to.
Too many layers and everything is so dark! Having a really smart warm long coat or puffer with normal clothes underneath is all you need. And of course hat and gloves ❤
Best advice I can give for merino or thermal underlayers is to get them in darker colours, so they look less like skivvies or underwear whenever they peek through your other layers (& can be worn by themselves in central heating).

I came around your channel quite a while ago and I adore your style. What I donˋt understand is your obsession with these bulky black platform boots. In my opinion they are ruining every outfit and they are much to „heavy“ for your figure. It looks as if you have chunks of concrete on your feet.
