I think when he says Louisiana he means that place you always think about disappearing to when you're at that point of saying fuck it. Just leave everything and everyone you know because it's too much. My place is Montana. I love this song. It comes from a part of him that is so real. He made you feel that shit in your heart. If you haven't watched his video that has him singing it I highly recommend it. I watched it last night and it's some powerful stuff. And I have been listening to Prof since he put out his Stophouse Recession album. Like 15yrs and this song is definitely at the top out of all of them. First song that got me hooked on Prof is called Fire. Other good ones are Karma or The Season. ✌️
This song is obviously dope- that hook is INSANE....so abstract but amazing. but it's so powerful. I get chills listening to it- and his live session made me cry. Just the power of that emotion. "We spent the summer in the fire" "You woulda thought it was 1965".... "I got my head on a swivel....but who expects snakes in the middle..." "Where might one go to find peace of mind.....Where might one find one who treats you kind" "Everybody thinks they got the angels on they side".... "We're all going hungry with isolation....to feel some find confrontation......is it possible to have faith in patience.....we can't breathe when were all contagious".... Wow. How he can blend being dope with being this emotionally raw and expressing it is incredible.
I am from MPLS and was there working through the George Floyd protests and Quarantine. This song hits directly to my heart. I can feel those feelings and process because of this song. Thank you! Fire Lessons, Flower Boy, and Myself are all amazing and honest to who he is in my opinion.
I think Louisiana may be a reference to the largest slave rebellion in the US. Over 200 slaves rebelled and all ended up slaughtered. I think he’s mentioning being pushed to the edge. One more shot, then it’s off to Louisiana.
Yeah, this is my first time on your channel. I like the reaction. Yo represent Marshall University. Yeah I was like Milwaukee.? lol. But I had to give it a chance anyway because you knew more about his mustache than I did so I look forward to checking out another video or two if you got some reactions and you probably do.. see what you’re all about. Hopefully you’ve checked out the live version by now, which shows the raw emotion. I really like tombstone that’s one of my favorite songs of it and of course Pain salesman, even though Ren steals the track.
He grew up a few blocks from where George Floyd was murdered, this is his song about those events. So much emotion in this song

What's in Montana? I've never been there. I never hear ppl talk about Montana either. Seems peaceful though.
Beautifully said. I needed to read your post just now. I can't even really quantify why...it just spoke to me. Thank you
This is one of my 2 all time favorites from Prof. The live video of him doing this is heart wrenching. Flower boy is absolutely haunting as well.

Plus, can we all get radicalized? What is radical, what is reasonable?
Prof is different. 😂
he sings alot btw, its like 70% rap 30% gospel, totally original.
Nice
if anyone is interested please listen to Brother Ali "self taught" or "forest whitaker"
love you looking at Prof. Minneapolis not Milwaukee. Can't be a first reaction if your singing the echo first around.
I learn the catchy parts 1st
I think Myself is his best song, but it's another one like this, on a serious tip.
bar breaker
Grown man shit, your right his best song
Skol
Some people use the fire. Some people control the fire. Are you a fire fighter trying to help or are you an arsonist.. that's culture on 2024 today.
Only gripe i have against prof is that he is starting to get a little woke and silly, and that isnt a compliment
