    • @LRF49

pffft!! If Maher were to become president, we would no longer be a world power and America would become poorer.

      LRF49
errr you ARE becoming poorer (the rtop 1% asside), and your world power is shrinking, if the chinese don't buy your bonds for an hour you re bankrupt.

    • @LRF49
      @LRF49 11 ปีที่แล้ว +2

IT ain't shrinking. It is at a stand still, since Obama is in office and is too timid to wield the power. Regardless, China will continue buying our bonds. If they don't, then China's economy would collapse because their economy is based on manufacturing goods for America. So if America goes bankrupt, so will China. Chinese politicians know this is true. In fact, read the Economist. That mag has said time and time again.

Sediq Bezhan Bullshit. Look up Bills old standups and routines. You will see that his stance on religion is nobodies but his own. I doubt a man like him with those smarts and wit needs writers for this kind of stuff. It's all just common sense, but he is one of the few who have the guts to say it out loud.

    • @MAnnaconduit1

Neosaigo Yeah but anyone whose met an actual crack head would know they can't lead or do crap all, in fact the only thing they ever want is more crack and will do anything (and I mean anything to get it), not too mention the fact that he lied to the people about smoking the crack, until he couldn't lie anymore and then managed to lie again by saying he did crack because he is a heavy drinker, then says he is neither addicted to alcohol or crack, and still supports his laws of zero tolerance on drugs etc. And finally he now threatens to sue anyone who spoke/speaks out against him, the man is oblivious to reality, oblivious to hypocrisy and in my opinion is a pompous jack off, I wouldn't trust him to lead a parade without snorting some blow and blaming it hunger pains.

Martin--the overall record is clear. You can point out little ups and downs along the way, but under Roosevelt's administration, the economy grew and recovered from the worst economic disaster ever. It's easy to be an armchair quarterback in the future, when you're not the one who has to deal with the mess. One thing Roosevelt did not have to contend with to the extent Obama has--a Republican opposition taking the position of absolute opposition and filibuster on everything. Thanks.

i might have messed up that quote. sooooo humans aren't really at much fault.. it's the dumbass leaders who are mainly driven by really bad reasons to fight.. or to kick the ass of the bad leader who attacked someone else. basically. that's a very simplified version.

Mexico has to get it's act together and start taking care of their people. Invest in their citizens. As far as the Central Americans, Mexico should give them sanctuary. Their Catholic churches can take them in and care for them. Has anyone held Mexico and their government accountable for what has been happening to their people for decades? Why is it the U.S. problem to take care of illegal aliens? This is Mexico's problem to solve, not ours.

First of all, NY and CA have great wealth disparity because of issues such as the price of real estate in Manhattan, and the high quality of life in coastal cities attracts the wealthy. It has nothing to do with liberal vs. conservative politics. Believe it or not, not everything is a function of politics.

Here's a thought for everybody to ponder. Maher's point about us about to be "war free" is an interesting one but when have we ever been without a war regardless of which political affiliation was in control. Perhaps it's possible this "border surge" has deeper implications. 20,000 more government enforcers... the NSA delving deeper into EVERYBODY'S business... Maybe the fence is not to keep them out but to keep us in. Extrapolate and consider.

Or that the federal government concentrates the subsidized housing in certain neighborhoods to create enclaves of dependency and voting blocs, forcing the middle class to leave the big cities for the suburbs when the quality of the neighborhoods deteriorates? And yes, politics has to do with all of this. If the Sun Belt is only growing because of the weather, then why is this the first census in which Kalifornia didn't gain any congressional seats on account of population stagnation? The taxes..

To be clear, people who are very xenophobic don't live near the Canadian or the Mexican Border. As someone who lived near the Canadian Border and lives near the Mexican Border, I don't understand why people who never have visited either nation are quick to make judgment about people they will never meet. Xenophobia is a result of fear of the unknown. And yes, this immigration bill is a handout to the military industrial complex.

  • @badwolf6356

Switzerland may not be the best example for limited defense spending. They haven't been to war in 600 years and they stay out of international politics as much as possible but they are armed to the teeth and they have compulsory military service for all male citizens. Who then have to keep their weapons after their service just in case they need to form a guerrilla force in case of invasion. Not even Senator McCain would advocate for a similar program in the US.

Military Keynesianism is how our nation is run. Keynes was the econonomist behind Rosevelt's New Deal. He said that it is good for governments to inject money into the economy during bad times. Conservatives supposedly don't believe this. But it happens constantly, mostly via the military. The government gives huge amounts of money on the military and to defence contractors and etc. They go out and spend it, and that's how our economy stays afloat. It seems like we might consider using that money to build and maintain things here, instead of blowing stuff up (and sometimes rebuilding it) in other places. But that would make us tax and spend liberals, so---.

If greater education spending is the answer, then why don't we have the greatest schools on earth? Is it because it all ends up with the teachers unions and bureaucrats? Also, why hasn't the equality in Cuba and North Korea generated all that wealth?
