I remember seeing this cover when I was young and knew he would be in a known band. To think he’s gone this soon, it’s just heartbreaking. R.I.P Ryan. Never forgotten!
Ryan, you were my hero ten years ago. This video showed a 16y/o me that professional-level technique was not strictly reserved for people in their 20’s/30’s, and lit a fire under my ass that made me the player I am today. You were my gateway from Rise Records core to the golden decade of the Prog Metal guitar scene. You showed me what was possible through sheer determination and hard work - a lesson which has no doubt shaped the next ten years of my life. I am eternally grateful for your time investment in the industry, and it will no doubt feel this loss for years to come. Rest in peace Ryan. Thank you for your part in who I am today.
This is the first video of Ryan I ever watched and this is how I’ll always remember him - fun, full of energy, and an absolutely jaw-dropping player for his age. An inspiration to old and new guitar players alike. Rest in peace, Ryan. 🎸 3.18.1997 - 6.19.2023
I remember watching this back then and I was just amazed at how young and talented you were at playing guitar. One of the best in this generation. Rest easy sir. 🙏
I'm really liking Mark Holcomb's composing ability

I haven't made an (electric) guitar cover in 2 years, I think somewhere on the road I just lost the passion I once had. I happened to stumble upon this cover in my "interesting videos" section on youtube, and I'll tell you, the moment I finished watching this incredible cover I decided to finally, after all these years pick up my guitar again. All thanks to you. This was exactly what I needed.
It just goes over my head how you can learn these songs so fast, but then again that's how good you are man. And that's probably the best thumbnail of all time.
This was one of the first videos I saw of yours. You made a profound impact on me, and I wanted to be just as good as you. You will be missed Ryan. Thank you for being you.
😭 I can't believe you're actually gone. This is the video that got me into this genre. Watching your videos really taught me a lot of stuff... Rest in peace. You will always be the best in my opinion.
***** Practice makes talent. You want to be talented you practice. It's really simple. You can be born with talent and you can develop it later i life. Just like many other things. And im also pretty sure that Ryan developed his guitar technique and talent during the practice of pale aura and not just the song..
***** I have to disagree on this one. While it is true that nobody will have an innate ability to pick up a guitar and play like this, and technique plays a huge role. Imo when people talk about talent when it comes to playing the guitar it's the simple fact that there are people like this kid who will get a hell of a lot further with the same amount of dedication and practice as the next guy. Try not to get hung up on literal meanings of words. My 2 cents. EDIT: Keep up the good work Ryan!
It's crazy seeing how he has grown as a guitar player!!! I remember watching all of his OG videos and I am still blown away. Love his work in Polaris!! 🤘🏻
You're an incredible player Ryan! It will be fun to watch your progress grow as you get older! Your playing inspires us and we hope to be as good as you some day even though we are similar in age! You are a huge influence on our guitar players! Once again bravo my friend, keep rockin!
above the skill, tone, and accuracy, I did your passion and love for what you're doing!!! How much you enjoy it is by far the best part!!! Keep rippin man!!!
Sure, perfect practice makes the impossible attainable. But some are just more gifted than others. Like, they almost just breeze through it.. It's amazing... very inspiring.
Remember seeing this cover coming out fresh from the oven! What a nice guitar player (and so young!)... As we say in my home country (spanish): Nadie conoce las goteras de la casa del vecino! R.I.P. Ryan!
favourite song from the new album ! the guitar, lyrics and vocal work is just the best! love seeing the guitar actually being played along to such an epic song! looks so good well done ryan!
YAY!! One of the only few times I'm excited for covers now are pretty much just yours' and a few others like Lyle Watt. Absolutely my favourite song off of Clear if not of all Periphery.
I've been watching your videos for a while because it keeps popping up... you've gotten so much better even though you have been a beast for such a long time! Amazing work as usual, you (for the most impossible reasons) never cease to amaze and impress me!
That was really good. It took me a little bit before I could tell that your track was even in the video, it blended so well. Also, I admit I'm a little jealous that there's a kid out there a bit more than half my age with gear that I could only dream to afford, out-playing me so thoroughly. Cheers and keep playing!
RIP Ryan. Such a talented riff maker who was dedicated to his craft. You will be missed. ❤
what happened to him?
@danjackism I think it was suicide due to the uncontrollable brain fog he was having. But no one is saying for sure
@@danjacktv i believe he had SSRI withdrawals and ultimately commited su1cide
Man I just wanted to check out what that guy is up to, thats shocking and sad. His influence will live on.
Killer job as always, Ryan!!
Thank you mark!!
Woah!!!
Awesome ! :D
+Mark Holcomb Who the fuck is WMG, and why the fuck are they taking Ryan Siew's videos down?! I love periphery and anyone who loves your music.
+Mark Holcomb WOOOAAHHHHHH
I remember seeing this cover when I was young and knew he would be in a known band. To think he’s gone this soon, it’s just heartbreaking. R.I.P Ryan. Never forgotten!
Wow, killer man!
Thank you rick! :)
+Rick Graham WOOAAHHHH
Holy crap what a remarkable compliment from the man himself, Mr Graham
You know it's Periphery when the solo is easier to play than the verse riffs haha
So true
Even more typical of Mrak, what a monster talent.
hahah that's truth
i can play verse and can't nail solo , am I doing something wrong lol?
+Baconofthe Ark It's such an insane aesthetic isn't it? This style of music has moved me in ways no other music has.

This was exactly what I needed.
Were you doing some harder drugs in those years? Just curious.
Dude!! thats awesome to hear. Glad i could motivate/inspire you :)
Enkiguy
No drugs, but loss in family, I moved out and began studying etc, so I just lost the passion. But now I got the time and inspiration again!
Damn man. Keep at it! You are too good to quit now.
Try the hard drugs. Itll get interesting pretty quick. Haha jk dawg
Just heard of your passing...
May you rest in peace, your covers bring back so many memories...Rest in peace. No words
That tone omg

Not to mention owning a friggin' Mayones with Bare Knuckle pickups. Wish I could spend that kind of money.
Andy Wilson endorsed by mayones
masterofsloths lol once again I wish
masterofsloths Endorsed doesn't mean free guitars.
jagrblood he probably got his mayones' at a decent price though! Haha
It just goes over my head how you can learn these songs so fast, but then again that's how good you are man. And that's probably the best thumbnail of all time.

That was really good. It took me a little bit before I could tell that your track was even in the video, it blended so well. Also, I admit I'm a little jealous that there's a kid out there a bit more than half my age with gear that I could only dream to afford, out-playing me so thoroughly.
