Introducing the System of National Accounts 2025

The United Nations Statistical Commission, as part of its Road to the Commission webinar series leading to its 56th session (4-7 March 2025), is organizing a series of side events, including high-level webinars. The first in this series is focusing on introducing the System of National Accounts 2025 (2025 SNA).
The objective of this webinar is to inform the global statistical community about the relevance of the SNA for economic and policy analyses, the new features of the 2025 SNA and the road towards the 2025 SNA. Specifically, the webinar aims to:
Reflect on the policy relevance of the SNA
Highlight the motivation for developing the 2025 SNA, which include developments such as globalization and digitalization, and the need for strengthening the articulation of the linkages between the SNA and broader measures of well-being and sustainability.
Provide an overview of the journey leading to the update of the 2008 SNA and the Balance of Payments and International Investment Position Manual, sixth edition (BPM6), highlighting:
the transparent and inclusive approach.
the 2025 SNA framework, including the key changes, and the joint chapters of the 2025 SNA and BPM7.
the practical compilation guidelines developed to assist with implementing the main conceptual changes.
the joint implementation strategy for effectively transitioning to the 2025 SNA and BPM7 frameworks.
