    Great illustration on this, l just wonder if 50 Watt will be too much while crusing around the city, l don't want to make disturbance for other drivers. Please, any input on this?

    Did you have to change the stock projector at all, or just plug these bulbs in and go?

    What did you ground to just neg on the battery? Also how did this affect the "auto" light feature?

    • @GearsGadgets
      @GearsGadgets  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just grounded to the frame, no issues with the auto light feature at all.

    Do you think 6500k with 55W will be too much? I don't want to make disturbance out in the streets with wrong setup. My truck has a leveling kit, and seems to make noise on highway… so with HID, l really don't know , please advise

    • @GearsGadgets
      @GearsGadgets  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it would be too much. I love the 35w 4500k on my truck. It looks OEM and I think anything above that would just look kind of goofy and be annoying to oncoming drivers. That is just my opinion.

    Both of my hid bulbs went out on my 15 sierra, but the hid bulbs that I see on your website are different how am I supposed to get the wires from the bulb back inside the rubber seal that goes in the headlight cover to keep moisture away? Please help

    Would you think the 5500k or 6500k HID headlights would match closest with the LED fogs?

    • @frankolvera1337
      @frankolvera1337 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brandon Crawford do 6500k I got 6500k bulbs on 50 watt ballast they look white with a warmer hue not that blue. But I think it’s something to do with the headlight housings. The give a blue color at a certain angle but when you stand in front there white as daylight. If you want after you install them look at them and then go near a store with glass windows and you’ll see them blue but there white I have messed with these lights so much and another tip on where to hook them up is not directly on the battery but the fuse that’s hooked up to the battery it’s like a distributor deal and there will be an open bolt fuse deal that reads 125 if not it’s 135 can’t remember. But wire it there prevents the hids from one not functioning and the bolt size is 13 or 14 so just grab a nut and bolt the relay to that.

      6500 to match fogs but I went 5500 and it was close enough. I actually like the 2 different colors being slightly different.

    Did you have to use a load resistant? I have a 2014 Sierra

    • @GearsGadgets
      @GearsGadgets  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      J Luis Miramontes the kit came with all of the stuff you needed. No additional resistors were needed.

    • @Rhodesian_FAL
      @Rhodesian_FAL 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You do not use load resistors with HID, you use them in LED lights. This kit uses, and comes with a capacitor to deal with the PWM from the factory wiring.

    I'd sure like to have these headlights, I'm sure I could find a way to screw something trying to change them out though. Good video

    • @GearsGadgets
      @GearsGadgets  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the feedback. If your remotely mechanically inclined its pretty easy. Its more time consuming than it is complicated. It required a lot of layout, making sure the wire harnesses were hooked up right, and that was about it. I love them so far, its made the truck way nicer to drive at night vs the factory halogens that were garbage.

    • @frankolvera1337

      You don’t have to remove any of the front end things not even the headlights them self’s. Just remove your air box from the intake or intake whatever you wanna Call it. And pull both caps that are behind the headlights drill some 7/8 in holes right in the center of each of the caps and install the bulbs remove the old ones first and place the caps and fit the rubber gromets into the caps so you get that seal tight. I didn’t go with silicone. Only because I always mess with my lights. But you can go that route and than start wiring your relay next to the batter is a distributor fuse block with an empty slot that reads 125 amps. I would hook up the positive on the relay there I’ve had one light mess up with me before and ever since I wired it there it hasn’t messed up on me since. And the nut you need would be 13 or 14 can’t remember. And do not turn your truck on without placing your air box completely back or the plug at least cause that will cause the check engine light to come on and test the lights out and secure everything. Back and your done. It’s really not that hard just seems like a lot. Just take it step by step and within an hour you’ll be close to finish if not finished.

    are those hid's 6500k or 5500k? looks good man. about to pull the trigger on these as well.

    • @GearsGadgets
      @GearsGadgets  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      5500k and I am happy I went with them. I think 6500 would be too blue and look too aftermarket "ricer" and probably be kind of annoying to drive with for any long distances. I like the OEM look of the 5500k and they are MUCH whiter than the stocks were. The fogs are a little whiter but I love the way they look together.

    • @GearsGadgets

      Sorry I lied, mine were 4500k. Sorry if I misled you.

    Great video buddy,I'm getting ready to order a set but not sure which one to get I'm debating between 4500k or 5500k what do you recommend? Are the 4500k a lot brighter?

    • @GearsGadgets
      @GearsGadgets  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the positive feedback.
      YES the 4500k is much brighter than the factory halogens. I highly recommend the 4500k, I think the 5500k might look okay if you were trying to go for some kind of aftermarket look and draw notice to the fact that they are different but in my mind I think the 5500k might be too blue. Some of the stuff I read was the bluer you go the more eye fatigue you may experience on long distance night driving. Ultimately The Retrofit Source recommended 4500k and thats what I went with. I don't regret it.

    You dont have to take off the grill to install this kit....

    • @GearsGadgets
      @GearsGadgets  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is correct, but you do need to remove that lower painted trim piece and that is more difficult that removing the grill. So for me it just makes sense to take the 5 extra minutes to remove the grill to open up access a little more. But you are correct, you don’t have to.

  • @eagles7878
    @eagles7878 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Don’t need to remove any of that. Remove the air filter and you have more than enough room to install the system. Should take 30 minutes to install

    • @GearsGadgets
      @GearsGadgets  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      True however 30 minutes is slightly ambitious. Also, removing all of that stuff isn’t hard by no means either.

    • @eagles7878
      @eagles7878 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gears & Gadgets I’ll break it down. Remove air filter . Remove headlight caps. Drill holes in caps. Insert headlight bulbs , put caps on .Connect wiring harness. Connect air filter. Start truck, walk around to check work. Close hood. Turn off truck

    • @GearsGadgets
      @GearsGadgets  4 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @eagles7878
      @eagles7878 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gears & Gadgets don’t need to. You made one already. I gave an alternative way. But to completely remove the housing is just not necessary
