The day of the wedding my MIL came to my husband and I. She sat us down and told my husband that from this day forward I should always be the most important woman in his life. She told me she knew her son had fallen in love with the perfect woman for him. She then told me that if my husband ever gives me a problem, to call her and she will take care of him, lol. Of course she was joking with that one, because she raised an amazing man. I have a wonderful MIL. Sadly, I cannot say the same for my husband's MIL. 😉
In-laws DO NOT go on honeymoons. That is for the bride and groom ONLY. It is weird to take parents on a honeymoon. MIL is living in a strange world. Son needs to tell mom to FO.
MIL said, "Normally, you should invite your in-laws..." OP should have said, "In that case, I'll call Tim's MIL and invite her, too." Bet that MIL would have flipped out!
If my mother-in-law spoke to me like this, I would tell her to but out and leave me alone. I wouldn't speak to her on the phone or let her into my house. I especially wouldn't cook or clean for her!
I've been married twice and my first MIL was amazing and I loved her so much.... My second husband who I've been married to for 24 years and have known since I grew up in church with him and his mom was my Sunday school teacher and as soon as I married her son treated me like shit ever since I was 11 years old because my mom didn't get along with her! She was pure evil! 😢 She died 2 years ago.. 2 years after my mom died and she was still evil to me till the day she died. 😢
MIL needs a date. Mommies are important when children are growing. A GOOD Mom, knows to let go when her child gets married. Especially sons. This doesn't mean that they stop caring.
Margot....get the hell out of our lives...and I don't respect someone who don't respect me...and you have no right to order us or me to do anything...and that's FINAL!
Why op have to do everything mil says, these mother in-law stories are always about them, and not the person or persons involved, do the right thing cut ties change numbers and respect is due not owe to you

my mother told my SIL similar except she meant it. Didn't need to, she's more stubborn than him

Honeymoons are meant for the bride and groom, not the mother-in-law.

Spines...have you heard of them...get one!
Margot is a ridiculous bully
Margot needs to piss off.
Strong the narcissistic projection with this one is. 🙄

You get respect when you respect others.

Why is the DIL in the middle of this? Tell Tim to deal with his mother and wash your hands of the whole mess!!
What happened to a man leaves his mother and father and sticks to his wife and they become one flesh!?

Sorry Margot ! You are not going on the Honey moon! You want respect, then you will have to earn it! No I don't have to listen to you!
Where's the husband's side of the first story? And what's with the kitten(s) in the background with its or their tails cut off?
Margot needs to GET A LIFE!! OP needs to get a voice and stand up to her! Lets see if Karma comes a calling! Big hugs to OP from Belinda Greene
Common sense? In what bizarro world?
If I were OP, before visiting the MIL.. I'd keep that lawyer on speed dial and tell her to be ready to be sued.

I was afraid to get married because my mother had a monster--in-law. When I f
