There's a cool theory I have where when she touched the door her gift was she was connected to the house which is why the house moves and acts based on mirabel's emotions.
If that were the case, then wouldn’t it have been acknowledged? Considering Mirabel is the “giftless” child ever since her ceremony I think it’s most likely that the house was always alive before then.
