He kind of does but I expect his role in the anime is going to be expanded and he might get a longer fight because of how popular the character is. They basically made up the entire uryu/ichigo fight, so we're pretty clearly willing to deviate, which they probably will for grimmjow

Base Ichigo is now at the level of yamamoto and Aizen from the previous arc....and once he goes into his hollow form (horn of salvation) its absolutely game over for gotei 13, 10 espada's and squad zero (excluding ichibe)
They got lazy with the sword swipe animation, in the manga Grimmjows sword swing was a force that shattered the ground, Ichigo was clearly impressed and he’s infinitely stronger than he was since Grimmjow last saw him.
Urahara probably figured that Nnoitra's attack damaged the part of Nel's brain that regulated the emission of spiritual pressure from her hands, making it stuck in high flow. So the gauntlets just allow her to regulate it normally.
