    If people liked this episode and appreciated the concept (and might have believed it was an original concept), they might enjoy watching the 73rd episode (or 8th of the 3rd season) of the original TV series called ‘The Twilight Zone’ (released in 1961), which is also based on Jerome Bixby’s short story ‘It’s a good life’.

    Makes me wonder if his actions would have been the same if she had started to converse with him, instead of asking about her friends. It's just the way he says, "Oh right. Your friends." Like, maybe he was willing to open up to someone finally.

      Yup, he didn’t immediately blow her up, or melt, or explode her head. He first reached out to her. Makes me think that he would’ve let her live if she hadn’t started out asking for her friends first.

Oh yeah, the little child too -- no harm done I'm not Up-SET it's all GOOD... In fact, It shows the REAL ME! A Ripple in time is like a Ripple in Water.

    I generally LOVE DUST'S movies. This one, though... (and I know that I appear to be in the minority here-lol), well...
    I get the whole Candyman vibe from this. which to me is pretty cool! And I think the setting, music, acting, etc., are pretty awesome! As for the storyline, though,,,, to me, it comes across as just a tad bit silly. FUN and intriguing to watch (especially the bathtub and all), but a lil bit silly.

    The World of Darkness knows the concept of monsters called Nexus Crawlers, surreal beings completely devoid of reason, embodying pure entropy. They are able to change reality in often terrible ways (like, turning someone's bones to mud or the air into liquid metal). This is the closest I've seen a film come to one. Chilling.
    I love the resolution! Just in time! :)

      Zach Gilbert..drive about a hour north tward Somerset center or visit one of the lakes in Michigan is a beautiful state with lots to offer you've just not seen good parts of the state..Detroit went to sh't when general motors sold to Delphi and it just went worse from there.. want to see a full state like Detroit visit Ohio they just found 5 women within three streets of each other And no one noticed or even called the cops when they were shot because there was no one living In the area to call the police because there are that many empty houses there are so many homeless people those empty houses could help instead there going to make 4,000 tiny houses to fix the homeless..so there idea is let houses sit empty and build tiny ones n one neighborhood to give homeless a one room lil shack to have an address. Yet what happens when the homeless people destroy the little shacks and they look just as bad as empty buildings? also there are so many in major city's homeless yet why can't they get section 8 housing like these other people? Yet if I had to choose I'd say this looks more like Dayton or Cincinnati not Detroit.

    • @big65mopar
      @big65mopar 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Lansing, Flint, Jackson and other cities in Michigan are just as bad as Detroit and the same goes for large cities in Ohio yet you can find just as many smaller cities and towns in both states that are really nice so to say that all of Ohio is a wasteland is a lie.

    • @ryan-uu9lj
      @ryan-uu9lj 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Patience Myers I live just outside of Dayton and have had a few jobs in the worst parts of it. Never have I seen anything like what's in the short there. I have seen that in Detroit when I had a delivery to one of the plants there, but not here. Cincinnati is almost as bad, but not quite. Ohio is mostly rural with a few big cities, you may want to get out of that bubble you're in before you open that mouth.

    At 1:16 there is a graffiti image that reminds me of when I first showed up in New York City 1998. Different sections of the subway in downtown Manhattan the trains would stop at certain points for one purpose or another waiting for tracks to clear or something and at those points we would see these long expositions that look like they were done by the same hand. They were always expressions of confession and wistful regret.

    I think we can do a better job as an audience highlighting what is unique and original rather than pointing out things obviously familiar. This film had a horror edge, set a cool scene that muddles what we know of the present, and gives us a fable that Geoffrey Chaucer would be proud of, "let sleeping dogs lie". Then ask ourselves, "did we like it?" and/or "were we entertained?". The answer to both is "yes" for me.

    I think I get the idea of what's behind this allegory that they've played out for us.
    You have this great vast City built by people who all had to trade innovate cooperate design use intense levels of abstract thought and huge amounts of hard manual labor. This baby is the Mindless generation that has come after. It looks like a full grown man but it's still a baby. It has all the "I want I want I want" that a baby has with none of the social controls.
    Politicians who do not produce who do not create who do not Elevate the society react to the desires of the mob the majority the largest number of Voters. The baby and the majority of Voters merge into the single personality.
    Then that which has been created those people who have labored those who have planned all of that is disregarded to meet the desires of the Baby Mob.
    They will not be bothered by thought by Logic by the idea of any consequences. They are only motivated by appetite and desire.
    Hence this wrecked and ruined City which was destroyed in fact by actual avatars of this concept in real life, and real time.
    This is not merely a partisan observation of current modern day politics. An ancient Roman looking at the ruins of the Forum or at what's left of Pompeii would probably feel the same way we do looking at these ruins of Detroit or the industrial sectors of any large American city today.
    The ending is most unsatisfying but then so is the situation we face. The baby has so much power that any one or two or Twenty or thousand of us cannot effectively fight it or possibly hope to. defeat it

    Its the story of myth that children do not believe because they have never seen. So they cross boundaries being rebellious and find out the truth for themselves.
    The story of the doctor turning to water and then actually seeing her turn into water was an awesome revelation. Y'all are ungrateful and just a bunch of critics who probably have nothing going for themselves.
    This was beautifully put together and executed.

      Yes, that ruined the entire film, because...there’s no such thing as artistic license. 🙄 Actually, the narrator could be a regular person...not an educator or a grammarian...in which case, he would talk however he talks. Fiction allows for colloquialisms or slang or improper English...because it’s fiction.

    Old story, new setting. See Twilight Zone Season 3, Episode 8 "It's a Good Life". This, of course, is a variation on the 'unstoppable' force concept.

    A God with mental health issues. I wish there was more of a story here. Yes, there is history, a "back story," but there's nothing moving forward, no surprise, just crazy God business as usual.
