***Playa Rincón /Caño Frío has been ranked one of the best secluded beaches on the planet .Now because of the Sargassum encroachment it's unrecognizable.Rincon means "cornered"--so when you get the strong currents from the tropical storms the algae gets funneled into the bay .🌴🌴 Beauty of the crystalline river .--Thanks for the video.🌊🌊🐟🙏

Thank you for an objective review of these incredibly beautiful beach. Unfortunately, Sargassum does not affective Dominican Rep. only, but the entire Caribbean region. I've heard mentions of the local government taking innovative initiatives to curb the built up of sargassum and use it for other purposes such as energy, fertilizer, etc. I've been to this beach before and it was nothing like the before. The Samana peninsula is by far one of the most beautiful places in the entire Caribbean.

Its a pity that we the Caribean zone had this salgazo everywhere, the beautiful beaches get horrible and stinky, at least there is a river with pristine water beautiful colors and mangles im glad you find good places to enjoy, its pretty similar ro my island Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 thanks for sharing again!!

Many beaches in Cancun, Playa del Carmen and Tulum have put up sargasm barriers this year and a lot of beachfront hotels have cleaning crews that remove it twice a day, but it is still a big problem

I was really looking forward to this video of Rincon beach as this is somewhere we have actually been to. Sad about the sargassum but loved your exploration of the River. Will definitely have to check that out if we are ever in that area again. Thank you and Hi from 🇨🇦

Aah yes, the downside of vacationing during the off-season (rainy/stormy) in the tropics -- rough surf, no sun, piles of dead stinking seaweed, etc. Love the drone shots. Shots of Carol swimming are always appreciated. Hiking/exploring/riding motorbike in flip-flops, injury waiting to happen. But downsides often make a more interesting video.

Some days are a bust when you are beach explorers... seaweed, jellyfish, algae blooms, heavy surf, river run-off, high winds, and torrential rains are just a few of the things that can turn a beach day into a bust.

actually we have a lot of clear rivers, to mention a few: Muchas Aguas , charco, Cambita, Los cacaos en Nisao, el Tabernaculo todos en San Cristobal; Rio Partido en Salcedo (one of my fav); Los 27 charcos de Damajagua, Rio Sonador, Casacadas las Golondrinas, Cola de pato, Cueva la Virgen. Those are the ones I've been, there are more... breath taking the only problem is that basically its imposble to go by your self, you have to go on tours.

sargassum is no fun! It's become necessary to find out how the beaches are before travelling, esp. in the last 5-10 years. People blame runoff from deforestation, rising sea temperatures and other things for this increasing problem. Here in Texas they use heavy equipment to clean the popular beaches on a near daily basis, but that's not an option on an island.

  • @daviemcf

Great video guys but shame about the sargassum, at least you had that beautiful river to swim in, that last pool you swam in looked liked the best one and you had it all to yourselves. That breaded fish looked very tasty and the location of that restaurant was in a nice spot with great views of the sea. Thanks again Chris and Carol, all the best to you both. ❤

If you ever find yourself in Northern New York State USA in the summer, do not miss Alexandria Bay on the St Lawrence River. The water is deep and crystal clear and yes c c cold but refreshing. It is the border with Canada and the region is called Thousand Islands. I think you'll find the water as clear if not more so than the little river in DR. Thousand Islands are really a must see.
