Basically the skunk, an animal that's probably often avoided because of their stink spray, has most likely never been called pretty, or a flower in his life. So to have Bambi call him that from the first time they meet, and have him MEAN it, yeah, guys got a friend for life there.

The death of Bambi’s mom was the reason that made Walt Disney change his mind about killing off trusty in lady and the tramp. Audiences were so devastated watching Bambi that Walt didn’t wanted them to go thru the same thing again 😅
Also about the deer that fought Bambi over faline has a bigger role in the midquel (that takes place after the death of Bambi’s mom). It’s a pretty good movie and it also expands the relationship between Bambi and his dad 🥺

It also inspired Mufasa's death in The Lion King (the movie in general was inspired by Bambi to the point they refered to it as "Bambi in Africa" and you can see the similiarities) with the exception of that unlike with Bambi's mom, you saw Mufasa falling (but not hit the ground), Simba seeing him die and then found his corpse, which makes it even sadder.

Peggy Lee was the one who convinced Walt not to kill Trusty. this movie was the first Disney movie to have a main character die and not be revived by magic or a kiss. of course, there is the theory of dead mothers, stemming from Walt's own mother's death. Walt bought a new house for his parents, but she died from carbon monoxide poisoning due to a faulty furnace. his dad survived, but went into a deep depression. Walt blamed himself for the rest of his life

26:31 This scene always disturbed me as a kid. They let you hear this character. Know the fear that she was going through. And the panic welling up while her friends urged her to calm down and stay on the ground. All to no avail. The quail/pheasant is too panic stricken to listen or think clearly and takes flight. Which cost her her life.
I would always wanna squirm and look away at this scene. It isn't Bambi's mother's death. We see the body fall this time. It's such a messed up scene and I love this movie for having the guts to do this.

I was crying through almost the whole reaction. I watched Bambi since 5 or so, but only a couple of years ago I started to get very emotionak EVERY time I watch it or even hear the music from there. (´°̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥ω°̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥`)

Walt Disney really seemed to have a fascination with animating movement to music, just watching how the characters move, it feels like an orchestration in itself to the film's accompanying soundtrack.

Bambi had beautiful animation, the Owl and Thumper was funny at times, and appreciate the dark moments as well like Man and the fire sequence in the end. There’s also a live-action adaptation of this film in development as well likely.

Fun fact : there were three different version of the movie in the french version. In one of them, Thumper is voiced by the woman who voiced Penny from " The Rescuers " and in another, The Owl is vouced by the same voice actor than the grumpey badger from " The fox and the hound "

In the original cut before release, they had a scene where Bambi returned to the field to search for his mother and actually finds her dead in a pool of blood. Obviously, they decided that was too graphic and decided to have his father break the news to him instead.

Plus, (while I'm not a hunter, so would have no clue how long this would take), I was thinking with Bambi running all the way back to the thicket without noticing his mom's not with him, maybe by the time he went to look for her, she would have gotten taken by then (?)

In Bami Two you get a little more detail even though it should be called Bami one in half. Or like that Lion king movie was called one in half something in the title I believe it was called by. But Bambi 2 explains what happens when he went to go live with his dad.

Fun fact: Bambi's fawns are named Geno and Gurri! There were some comics Disney made featuring them and some other book-only characters, but for their full stories, I'd highly recommend Felix Salten's original books, Bambi and Bambi's Children.

Whoa! A classic! World War II was still going on at the time, but it didn’t stop Walt Disney from continuing making films.
Interesting to note: Walt’s top animators wanted to include a scene showing Bambi’s mother’s lifeless body shortly after the gunshot. But Walt decided against it saying, “it doesn’t feel quite right.”
