A film can be a flop and a great film. Scarface for example. Life is an amazing movie, but it was never going to be Beverley hills cop and they knew that.
You must not be looking at what I'm looking at. The budget was 80 million. it only made 23 million that is a flop. Eddie Murphy got over, cuz he got 20 million out of the deal. He got almost all the money. I wonder how much money Martin made. I'm talking about the movie Life.
Having seen how mamy actors have been getting paid for roles, no doubt Eddie Murphy is a superstar. Alot of Actors need to hire his agent(given they have the talent to back it up)
Boomerang, Harlem knights, coming to America, should've made more. Harlem Knights is the best! You mean to tell me, the last coming to America made more than the one from the 80's
How is it Harlem Nights Budget 30 mill Box 60 mill comes to average but Beverly Hills Cop 3 was a flop on a budget of 50 mill and box of 119? Also, Dreamgurls budget 80 mill and box of 155 was a hit? All three are basically doubling the budget and you have three different outcomes
I agree with you these are confusing. I give only what the data says, these informations are taken from IMDb, wikipedia, etc. Sometimes the budget of the movie is not the total expenditure, after budget some movies spend money on advertisement, which are hidden from the public, but when the total profits is asked then surprising answers comes sometimes
Highly doubt he made nearly half a million on his first movie 48hrs when about the same year Tom Cruise only got $70,000 for his starring role in the hit Risky Business
How young are you? Back in the mid to late 80's there were only Two Actors Bringing in Box Office hits. Eddie Murphy and Sylvester Stallone . Tom Cruise was no where near the level of those guys at the time. You're obviously a Tom Cruise fan who thinks he never was a struggling actor.
@bullydakidd2023 I actually was in a movie called Wildcats & studied how Hollywood works before i got involved Eddie Murphy wasn't a box office draw in his FIRST movie 48hrs because they didn't know if he was bankable yet Neither was Sylvester Stallone in his FIRST movie Rocky where he was paid under $50,000 to star in but made a little more as the writer because they wasn't sure if he was bankable It's only after they find out that you're bankable that you rake in the big bucks by the SECOND & beyond films Eddie being popular in TV thru SNL doesn't mean that popularity would translate to film it didn't with Joe Piscopo (who?) so Hollywood is not paying Eddie big bucks like half of million dollars in the 80s for his FIRST When Jim Carrey only got $300,000 in the 90s for his FIRST film Ace Ventura
@@rondavid7413 Eddie Murphy became big because of Saturday Night Live , and his acts carried that show and brought in millions of people who typically didn't watch the show. So he brought not only a large cult following of SNL fans, he brought in a large amount r of people worldwide . The metrics told Hollywood that Eddie had mass appeal and would bring a lot of fans to the theater. I doubt Eddie Murphy had to negotiate that amount. They gave it to him knowing that if his fans from SNL showed up to see him, they would make a profit. Tom Cruise didnt come into Hollywood with a cult following of millions like Eddie. He was part of that new Age Brat Pack of young actors(Patrick Swayze, Emilio Esteves, Ralph Machio , Matt Dillion, C Thomas Howel, Rob Lowe) just establishing themselves and actually battling to see who would become the biggest star. He couldn't command what Eddie Murphy got because he didn't have a certified fan base like Eddie .
@InternationalTang exceeding the production budget at the box office doesn't automatically mean a film is profitable, due to high marketing costs, revenue sharing, and other financial factors. It's not always mean that the budget is the total expenditure of the film. Advertisement costs are not shown in the budget
LIFE was NOT a flop!!!
It's a flop, you can search on google
I AGREE 💯 %‼️
A film can be a flop and a great film. Scarface for example.
Life is an amazing movie, but it was never going to be Beverley hills cop and they knew that.
It made less at the box office than it cost to make = flop
Its not rocket science to understand
Just like Friday.
Daddy Day Care grossed $164,433,867 worldwide but movie not mentioned
Life and metro are not flops wtffff
I said the same thing. Life was a great movie

I know Life isn't
Crazy how some movies be Classics and it flop at the box office
@@mrjones5880 could be due in part to the audience it carters to relied more on video release or in part to being released in less theaters.
I had no idea “Life” was a flop. That’s one of his and one of the funniest movies ever. You’d think he’d get paid more for the blockbuster movies.
“Life” is a damn good movie… crazy that it flopped
This person said Life was a flop. I'm not even gonna finish this video
Based on everything Eddie has done, he deserves more money than that. Man has iconic roles and moments for days.
TERRANCE OUT
To call Harlem Nights average is blasphemous
This man's a billionaire
I wish someone would pay me $10 million to just read a script and voice over a cartoon.
Yes but you get paid that money to make others make even more money

What happened to 'Another 48 hours'?
Even though SOME of those movies were flops Murphy STILL got his 💰 n he is STILL RICH 2 THIS day n BEYOND...TRUE story wit NO lie attached...😑
Very comprehensive...although I don't agree with the Flop-Average-Hit-Superhit-Blockbuster ratings. But.. well done.
What alot of sh!te. Where do you get these paycheck amounts from, thin air?
Forgot Daddy Day Care
That moment you realise that Delirious is actually a TV Special 😳
Please do an episode on Alan Rickman!
made 616 mil and worth 200mil.....damn, how do you spend over 400 mil?
Taxes
Beverly hills cop 3 flop but brought back a lil more than double?
How come I didn't see Delirious on here

Eddie Murphy wasn't a box office draw in his FIRST movie 48hrs because they didn't know if he was bankable yet
Neither was Sylvester Stallone in his FIRST movie Rocky where he was paid under $50,000 to star in but made a little more as the writer because they wasn't sure if he was bankable
It's only after they find out that you're bankable that you rake in the big bucks by the SECOND & beyond films

All went to child support 💚💵🤕
Bro how can Beverly Hills cop 3 be a flop when it more than doubled the budget to make the film ? 🤦🏽♂️ stop the foolishness.
You can search on internet.
I give only what the data says.
Thanks for commenting❤
I understand what you’re saying, but logically speaking, if I more than doubled my investment how can that be labeled a failure ?
