Good timing, great information. I am hunting a new area as of last year. I worked on putting in one small food plot last year. This year I am expanding that and planting fruit trees. I let some medium size deer walk this last year and hoping that pays off. Ready to start trapping too. Thanks for all your hard work!

Is there a resource for planting wild fruit bearing trees that grow in specific regions? Would like to add more of what is already naturally there. Perhaps along the edges of some fields and small clearings in the woods. Not looking to create an orchard type situation. Appreciate your videos. They are insightful and helpful to those of us who hunt or just want to help wildlife on property in general.
good job again.. just ordered me some persimmon's two weeks ago from the wild life group. They arrived yesterday so ill be out tomorrow trying to break through the frozen dirt to get those in.
I'm am obsessed with this channel!! I have a control burn coming up in a few days (South Georgia) I'm going to clear my plots and construct new ones. My question is should I try to plant or do anything after the burn? Thanks, Matt
Matt Connell Look at your property as a whole. Do you feel it has adequate food and cover? Is there something missing that could make it better? It's great to diversify a piece of property. It may have conifer cover, but no native cover etc. etc. If you feel there is something missing, this is a great opportunity to address it having a blank slate where you've burned off. If food is the weakness of the property then definitely plant something.
I know I am commenting a little late but I was wondering how Moistermizer( if I spelt that right) is used when you are putting the tree in the hole and where would be a place I could order some or buy some??
Ok we want fruit on the tree so cut most of the limbs off? Doesn't make 1 bit of sense to me. How can fruit grow in the middle of the tree if there are no branches there? Just hinge cut it and put it out of it's misery!
MrVtArcher Cut the interior limbs off to allow sunlight to reach the entire tree. It can be compared to other plants. The more there are, the more competition there is for available resources and yields will suffer. By cutting some limbs there will be less competition and the amount of fruit produced will improve.

Matt Connell Completely depends upon the property. Does it have plenty of forage and cover for deer during the spring months?
I would say 30 percent around the areas that are going to be burned.
