This was the first game I played as a child. Never got into another game like this again after, since I was only like 6 or 8 and played NFS shortly after this, but looking back at it now it looks hell of a game to start gaming with.
Great to see a Generals gameplay. For strategy, it is very easy to "turtle" and boom in Generals campaigns, especially at lower difficulties. Once you solidify your defences and build a few suply drop zones, you can basically make infinite money. Used to be my favourite strategy :D
my father taught me that expading your coverage is the best way to play early game , army produce outwards and all the important stuff spaced out, that way you could always recover from a major attack
@@realg1098 I have him to thank for getting me addicted to all forms of strategy games. I miss the days when he 'd set up the laptops and then spend the next three hours cockroaching with GLA while I turtled as Air force (I was 9-10 and not smart)
@@Braindamagedpotato Yeah man, ikr. I still play Zero Hour every single day with my brother. We play modded versions using GenLauncher and we have a blast.
by far the best game in terms of balanced yet highly different types of teams to play as. especially the stealth and mining aspects was almost unique to this. such great gameplay and strategy and tactics from those types of abilities and units. things like aoe2 could be so much more lively with added dimensions such as stealth and traps. This needs a graphic upgrade for sure and potentially new installments in the future. Such a treasure. Funny when you go back to it so many years later and it holds up perfectly and looks actually great even with rosy glasses.

Its kinda amazing and depressing at the same time how good this game still holds up with its graphics and RTS gameplay... Its just a sign that the RTS genre is in coma :(

This game and Supreme Commander were easily the best RTS games I've ever played. Zero Hour had soo much style.
