I am a retired designer and I feel your home should reflect what you love . Even if you have something others have in their home we still use things different . Make your home what you love and don’t worry what the trends.
I think blue and white is pretty classic as are checkered floors. Checkered everything else, not so much? I feel like rattan and wicker will always be around too, like a piece here and there, not over done.
Goodness. You are glowing in this video. You are so pretty. Ok…at almost 62, I would say my home is curated, not decorated. It is different and not like many other styles. I have a huge vintage metal nesting box in my foyer with 12 round holes in it. I have a primitive child’s bed as a coffee table in a sitting room. We have items that were our parents and things we’ve bought through the years. It all seems to come together and definitely feels homey.
Hey Holly. Here are my thoughts -Black and white check will forever be a classic. All the other colors are more of a trend - Bows everywhere are going out - Ornate mirrors are a classic - Scallops on textiles will continue to be around - Wicker and rattan in baskets and furniture is classic - Antiques are here to stay. Nostalgic! - Grand Millennial is a trend. Blue and white is classic - Color Drenching seems trendy but I ❤ it - Wallpaper is having a moment and I’m here for it - Yes to color!!! Just not looking like a box of crayons 😁
I think shiplap is a classic. I've seen it done so many different ways, different colors. I love white kitchens with a pop of color on the island or a pattern in tile back splash. I am like you with wanting classic furniture colors and adding pops of colors around in my decor, art, flowers. My style is a mixture of a California coastal vibe with a mix of French country. I also do love some of the elegant mirrors, but I like more minimal decorative mirrors like the one in your living room above your small dresser. I also draw as well as my son and I like to put our drawings up here and there. Still love your home and also love the grey and white McKenzie Childs for me, but also the black and white.
I'm a true believer that your decor should reflect what you love. I only purchase the things I love, whether it's trending or not. Most of my home is a mixture of family treasures passed down, thrifted or new. ❤
Greetings from the middle of Nebraska! First of all, Holly you look SO pretty in this video!! Your hair and makeup are on point!! This was a great video. I agree 100% that everyone should decorate their home as they wish it to be. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and ideas. God Bless!!

i watch your Chanel and love it . i love this list.but theirs a few things i steel love like the truck, Rae Dun, tiered trays, and i dont like bright colors ether i love neutrals also.
Holli what an AWESOME video! I think you nailed it when you said that your decor should be what you love in your home. I am going for a curated look and staying away from all trends. ❤
I believe checkered print is classic, I love it as well. Love bows! Ornate mirrors are classic too, I think. Hollie you look so pretty today, No snow in the part of Ga.where I leave, but cold. Whatever makes a person happy in their home decor is what one should go with, it doesn't have to be trendy,I know you said this in your video and I surely do agree. ❤😉
You're so right - it's all about what makes you happy in your home! But we all love decor here so I was like let’s have some fun conversations and y’all have definitely made it fun! 🤩
I love this video! You look so pretty Hollie! I’ve always decorated with what I like. I have sentimental pieces from family and I don’t have a certain style. I just go with what I like and incorporate it. Your home is gorgeous and I love the white! Wallpaper is pretty, but not for me. We had 3 coats of it and ended up painting with a texture bc we could not remove it without getting in to the sheet rock. It was a nightmare! I love watching you decorate! Your home is gorgeous!,❤❤
First of all you look so beautiful! And a big thumbs up! To everyone of the questions you asked! I just love love all the above you talked about! And your home is so beautiful and cozy and just plain inviting!❤ hope your new year is going great and can’t wait to see your next video! Take care holly!🥰
I have to agree with you as far as the trends you mentioned. I also will not be buying as much at Walmart ,Target and Hobby Lobby as I was doing for a while . Don’t like seeing to many homes with the same thing. I do have some blue and white items that have been put in my storage. Maybe I should think about using some of them for Spring. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. This is my first time seeing your channel. You have a beautiful home
White kitchens will never go out of style all you have to do is pop it with some colorful countertops and a warm color to counteract all the coolness of the white.. I have a white kitchen with chocolate marble countertops and I love it... That way when I decorate through the seasons I can add any color decor to my kitchen
I totally agree on the tiered trays! Anything farmhouse seems to be really going out, for me I also think painting everything green and black accent walls is a modern farmhouse trend that will also go out. Blue and white is very classic & white kitchens will be here to stay.
You're spot on about the tiered trays! I agree those are definitely going out. I saw so many in the thrift store today! I was like ok I think we hit the nail on the head with that one lol
I love knowing what young people like in home decor. I have watched you for years, and your home is beautifully elegant now. You are so pretty today! ❤ I wish I could squeeze that little boy....
I love the antiques. Also the Mackenzie Childs decor is so beautiful! I like the checkered silver items and the florals. Wicker is okay but not my best! Thanks for info on design trends. God bless you and your family
It is fun to see what goes in and out of style. I agree with the things that are out. I was never into the farmhouse trend so that was easy for me. I would maybe add the trend of painting everything white and distressing it. I feel like that may be out. I love vintage and antiques and a warm collected home.
Hello we had our house built a while ago . We have a lot of wood that we love. I have a dark kitchen stain wood not painted. It’s also a loft style home. I don’t do trends my home is decorated very different then most peoples. Example we have a real stop light that works in our home. Our stair case is wood with iron . The upstairs is the loft so when you are up there you could see the whole downstairs. Very high and I am scared of heights.
Fun video, now you have my wheels turning! You look beautiful, love your makeup. I agree, trends will come and go so it’s always important to stay true to what one loves. TFS, ❤❤❤
I have to say I agreed with you on everything. I’m in a new phase of my life as a retiree and have adapted the simplistic style of decorating. I have started this new year purging my house and it feels so good to get rid of “stuff” I’ve been holding onto for too long. Looking forward to your next video. ❤
MOO scalloped edges, bows, some checks like cups, canisters etc. I think the checked floors and rugs might last tho cuz alot of things you mentioned are of french country decor!
lol i only found out about farmhouse 3 years ago my younger daughter showed it to me on her pin tress that was what she was doing to her home .well i fell in love and started doing it in my home i love it and i dont have any planes any time soon in changing it. my tast use to be modern ,gold ,because thats what i was taught by my older sister and thats what my husband loved.but not no more ill keep with country for a few more years.
I'm in agreement with most of your preferences. I do however have a real farmhouse, sooooo , I have a few pieces I keep. ❤ Your house decor is beautiful.
Yes, still have lots of snow on the ground here in Indiana. I agree with everything you said in this video and my home is very curated with new and old. I love to thrift and add sentimental pieces as well that have been given to me but adding new unusual pieces from Homegoods, TJ Maxx as well. Our styles are similar other than I don't do the blue and white but the way you put everything together is always so beautiful!
Ornate mirrors have been around for a long time. My mom still has beautiful ones in her home. I have beautiful wicker furniture in my home. I have a coffee table with a glass top that I’ve had for a while and it’s gorgeous. I get more compliments and questions about it. It came from a furniture store. Antique furniture will always be around. I have some beautiful pieces of that also. Your home is beautiful and I love seeing what you’ve done with it.😊
In my personal opinion.. anything that becomes a trend will go out of style eventually.. I try to choose things that are not necessarily trendy but what I love personally and I feel classics you can't go wrong.. but even classics can become a trend.. so be careful of trends because most of us cannot afford to redecorate every two three years.. I would say if you love a trend buy one or two pieces.. but don't fill your house with trendy objects
Wicker/ Rattan has its moments. Little or none. You will never go wrong in vintage antique, they are curated home. Look at the older homes; most have past down.
Hollie, I agree with most of what you have said but not necessarily others. Here are my thoughts. Blue and white is classic and never goes out. You don’t have to be a grandma to like it. Plaids are here to stay. White cabinets are beautiful and even if they aren’t as popular for a period, they always come back. I remember when the dark cherry cabinets were popular and then the white came back. White kitchens are beautiful. I love the ornate mirrors as long as they don’t get too ornate. I’ve never been a fan of ornate furniture. Shiplap will always be around. I love it and will always keep it in my home. I just recently had it put on a ceiling in my home. Wicker is here to stay and definitely are antiques. I love wallpaper and color drenching but I won’t ever do it. I used to have wallpaper years ago and it was an absolute nightmare to remove. I think you get tired of it quicker than painted walls. I’m over tiered trays and Rae Dunn. I never collected Rae Dunn and never understood why it was so popular. I love color but I tend to go more with neutral walls and furniture and bring color in other ways. I do like a piece of painted furniture in a room. Don’t get rid of your blue and white ginger jars. They are so pretty. I still like bows as long as they aren’t overdone. I like to hear about trends but I still use what I like in my home. I also think natural wood in furniture is popular right now. I’m over word signs unless it is scripture. My least favorite is the word “gather.” This is a great video. I really enjoyed it. I hope it does well for you.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! I love that you use what you love! and I absolutely loved reading all of your opinions! This has already been a fun feedback vidoe! I appreciate yall chatting with me!! I need to hear from my friends!
What a fun video Hollie! Growing up in the 70’s we had every room a different color & I absolutely love my neutral home now! Wallpaper is too much of a pain imo. When we built this house we did stained kitchen cabinets and sage green bathroom cabinets. I love the neutral base and then to add the color with my decor, so much easier to change if I get bored. (And I will get bored) 😊 I do agree, don’t follow trends just do what you love in your home. I feel so much warmth can be added to a so called “sterile” house through furniture & decor and texture.
I agree that white kitchens are here to stay and black & white. Blue & white also. I'm going to color drench my home but in a light color. I have 2 trucks, one from Dollar Tree in red with a bottle brush tree in the back and one I got from Sam's last year. It's patriotic. So cute. You look marvelous.
I think most of these are very timeless. I too prefer clean white walls and add color in other ways. I’m the odd man out here but I’m not a big fan of the checkered pattern, it reminds me of the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland haha not really the vibe I want. I loved the bows for Christmas, but I’m not sure for everyday.
Need more color in the home. No wall paper even though it can be beautiful. You can get tired of it easily. No shiplap. Everyone has their own style so you do you. I like white kitchens. Not into antiques. Unless they are my mothers. No Rae Dunn tired of them. No gnomes. Nice video Holly👍🏻💖
Great Video!!! Wicker will never go out, it adds texture. Scalloped will go out. Blue and White will never go out. McKenzie Childs will go out soon....but I love it. Signs are ridiculous.
I agree with most everything you said. I dont like wicker/rattan. Not sure why. I have 1 little truck but I never really loved it. I have always been more traditional and liked older decor items, like "grandma" style. 😊
Cookie cutter, perfect. I have a lamp with the scallop edge. It’s wicker and it’s adorable but I actually had to ask a friend what is the big deal about Studio McGee? Am I missing something? It’s just not that interesting. So I went back to a Target and looked and looked on line and no, I still am not seeing it. Home Goods is good Fiordland pillows and dishes.
Checkered goes back to European flooring!!!!! Yes, it’s been in style forever. It’s timeless and will never go away. Mackenzie Childs has also been around for years. I NEVER EVER follow trends as I spend a lot of money on Antiques and pieces from the mid to late 1800’s so yes a classic checkered floor is never out!!!! Ornate mirrors have also been around for hundreds of years. I would never ever have an Anthropology mirror nor Hobby Lobby Mirror in my Home. Mine are actually Louis the 15th and other French Antique Mirrors, so this is nothing new but there are so many sad reproductions like Hobby Lobby and Kirklands, etc. Wicker is once again classic. It’s timeless. This is so funny because trends now are simply CLASSIC. People who have always purchased Antiques and Classics don’t change their furniture every season. We purchased expensive Persian Rugs, Antiques, and certainly not pieces you would just donate or throw out for a trending white sectional. I see videos like this all the time. The High End Designers never follow trends and they always stick with the classics. I’ve papered ceilings for 30 years. If you purchase classic papers, you probably do not want to change it. It literally decorates your room for you. Gray has been for at least 4 years but people are late with that memo. So, it was an odd look to me from the beginning. The obsession with all white and bleached furniture, and light rugs look like a utube formula to me. Good design and good designers never did this. Remember Chevron. A white kitchen is a classic but so is colored. I’ve had three homes with Colonial blue kitchens and one Colonial Home we had had sold twice in 20 years, and they left the cabinets blue. They were stunning. I also no not like white walls. When I was growing up only homes that were less expensive and not custom, had white walls. Apartments as well were done in white. You need to look at Period Style Homes. Most people love box store because it’s affordable and easy to go pick up. When you purchase good Antiques, it takes time. People make a home over time not in a week. I recommend young people educate themselves on Historical Homes. They really know very little. I’ve collected the real Antique Blue and White Transferware and Platters 30 years ago. They were around 350.00 to 400.00 per platter. I’m so glad I did because I now I have pieces you honestly cannot find. My blue and white are all mid to late 1800’s. Also, I love cobalt glass and milk glass coupled with the blue and white. Flow Blue is more expensive and I have many platters, bowls, and a few smaller plates. You can find these items on Etsy. For once, this is a trend people should follow because it’s not trendy. It’s simply Classic!
I loved this video, agree with most of it. Great advice ❤ love, Ms. Donna I do still have a red truck I put out at Christmas 🎄 😂 this is the hill I’ll die on.
Ughhh I use to be obsessed with thrifting and our thrift stores just make me mad now Lisa! They prices are absolutely ridiculous! I’m so sad!! I miss the good ol deal days!
Well Holly this video was so much fun! I agree with you on so many things but one thing you like and looks beautiful in your home I don't care for and that is the little bows everywhere maybe it's my age or that I don't really do it correctly thank you for the video fun fun
I’m soooo in my blue and white era! 😂 I hate wallpaper! I hate hanging it and I hate to remove it. I prefer shiplap over wallpaper. I’ve no idea the difference between rattan and wicker!? Scalloped edges are my favorite on literally everything. I prefer a white kitchen too!😍 Love this video girl!❤
Wall paper is a pain period. Any oil of any kind stained on mine back in the day. Serena & Lilly has some beautiful printed paper. I suggest having it framed and matted. If you get tired of it you can take it down. Just an opinion. I am more into quality than quantity. I enjoy looking at pictures of peoples homes. However, my home has color. Lots of it.
Definitely a no to rattan/wicker furniture, greek/roman heads, checks, bows, too much blue & white vases...lol. Yes to antiques, wood furniture, scallops, accent fabrics and shiplap. Colours are always personal reflecting a person's personality and any colour can look good if combined properly. Always yes to scripture reminding us of our Lord who makes a house a home 😊🙏❤
I agree that scripture is the most important element in a home! It’s a calming sign for me!! Thanks for sharing your opinions!!! I loved reading them! 🥰
Farmhouse is not going anywhere! It’s the hodge podge cluttered over done that is out! If it’s decorated with classic pieces then it takes it to a new level.
Ginger jars are a classic.. an all shades and sizes... They might become trendy.. but they will always be around. So will wicker and rattan.. perfect example of classics going trendy. But they will always be around
I like whites, just not the ones on the cold spectrum. The undertone is important. Love white kitchens! Not into Target decor to be honest. 😉 I agree- Joanna’s style has changed, and not for the better, in my opinion.
I feel the same way about Target and I think I agree with you about Joanna’s style… It’s been changing a lot in the past few years. It’s still absolutely beautiful to me but not my actual taste! 🥰
Black and white checks are classic to a certain extent. Such as floors. I think as a trend on mugs, vases, etc, it will be a trend that goes out. Bows, definitely trendy. I like them, but I prefer florals. They were in style in the 80s, so I’m sure they will be back in the 2060s. 😂 Ornate mirrors- although they are trendy right now, they are based on an antique style, which never goes “out”. Scallops are trendy, but they go in and out, and I always love them, I just enjoy when something I already love comes in because it makes it easier to find. 😊 Wicker- I love it on my back porch, and small doses inside. As a decor staple- definitely a trend. Antiques- they obviously stand the test of time, and they are important to ground a home. I appreciate the beauty of blue and white, although I don’t have those in my own home. I don’t think it’s a trend, I think it’s timeless. Color drenching- not a big fan but my husband wants it in his study. It can be nice, manly and cozy. Wallpaper- I like using it in built in shelves, and we love it on one wall in my daughter’s room. I think it’s timeless- design dependent. 😉 I do like neutrals on large surfaces. It’s more calming. I add color in the details.
I had a few word signs, and they were gone within 2 years. Never liked galvanize anything, trucks, cheap decorations. I always hated Hobby Lobby. It is nothing but a junk store full of clutter that was poorly made. I had shiplap installed by a master carpenter in my breakfast room and over the fireplace. But it was not the JoAnn Gains cheap Lowes thin wood. Mine was made out of poplar wood all hand cut with real tongue and groove like they had in the old ships. I am not a fan of gold. I had all Baldwin Brass hardware in my home that I had custom built in 1990. I cannot do gold again. Not a fan of ornate anything. Not a fan of pastel colors or bold colors. I too like neutral and use color for the different seasons. Not a fan of battleship gray or black hardware. I do not like the HEADS full of plants. Looks silly to me. But to each there own.
I love the antiques. Also the Mackenzie Childs decor is so beautiful! I like the checkered silver items and the florals. Wicker is okay but not my best! Thanks for info on design trends. God bless you and your family

I love that you have so much personality in your home! Sounds amazing! 🤩
Fun video, now you have my wheels turning! You look beautiful, love your makeup. I agree, trends will come and go so it’s always important to stay true to what one loves. TFS, ❤❤❤
I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I was nervous sharing it but it’s been so much fun of a conversation with all my decor besties!
I have to say I agreed with you on everything. I’m in a new phase of my life as a retiree and have adapted the simplistic style of decorating. I have started this new year purging my house and it feels so good to get rid of “stuff” I’ve been holding onto for too long. Looking forward to your next video. ❤
That is so good to hear! I’m so glad you’re enjoying your new style and purging! It felt sooo good to purge our home 😂😂
MOO scalloped edges, bows, some checks like cups, canisters etc. I think the checked floors and rugs might last tho cuz alot of things you mentioned are of french country decor!
I'm so glad you picked up on the French Country influence! I love that style and think it’s classic too!
lol i only found out about farmhouse 3 years ago my younger daughter showed it to me on her pin tress that was what she was doing to her home .well i fell in love and started doing it in my home i love it and i dont have any planes any time soon in changing it. my tast use to be modern ,gold ,because thats what i was taught by my older sister and thats what my husband loved.but not no more ill keep with country for a few more years.
I'm so happy you're loving the video and that our styles are similar! 💙 it’s fun seeing similar styles like me so I can gather some inspiration haha!
Your home is beautiful and I love seeing what you’ve done with it.😊
Oh I bet that is STUNNING!! Thank you friend for sharing !
Exactly lol that’s why I kept my house sterile white 😂😂
I like the checkered print. I think they‘’ll be a classic. I loved bows for Christmas!
I love checker print and wicker
Good advice. Do what you love❤️
I agree, you should always do what makes you happy! 💖
Where did you buy the lamp behind you on your table, I would like to purchase one??
Wicker/ Rattan has its moments. Little or none. You will never go wrong in vintage antique, they are curated home. Look at the older homes; most have past down.
Yesss!!
Do what you inspires you and what makes you happy, you are so beautiful
What a fun video Hollie! Growing up in the 70’s we had every room a different color & I absolutely love my neutral home now! Wallpaper is too much of a pain imo. When we built this house we did stained kitchen cabinets and sage green bathroom cabinets. I love the neutral base and then to add the color with my decor, so much easier to change if I get bored. (And I will get bored) 😊 I do agree, don’t follow trends just do what you love in your home. I feel so much warmth can be added to a so called “sterile” house through furniture & decor and texture.
THIS!!!! I totally agree with you on the neutral base! It makes updating so much easier! 😂
I so agree... the word of the Lord is forever...Amen.. you all do you. Love from Los Angeles ✝️🙏🔥😔🔥
Ohhh God bless you! How are you and your family friends ?!
I bet your home is beautiful!!! And thank you so much for sharing and the sweet compliment!
Great video. Still love the blue & white, checkered decor, shiplap.
I really enjoyed this video. I still love shiplap. I say if you love it in your house go for it.😊. Great video
That’s awesome! I think shiplap will always be a great design choice.
HELLO☺️❤️ Holli in Texas! Your getting so close to 50K 🥰
Thank you so much! I am so grateful for all of you!
Great Video!!! Wicker will never go out, it adds texture. Scalloped will go out. Blue and White will never go out. McKenzie Childs will go out soon....but I love it. Signs are ridiculous.
I totally agree, wicker is a classic!
I agree with most everything you said. I dont like wicker/rattan. Not sure why. I have 1 little truck but I never really loved it. I have always been more traditional and liked older decor items, like "grandma" style. 😊
I love a good grandma-style piece! They add so much character!
Hollie, where did you find the table under the mirror in your living room?
I got it at an antique store!
Oh how I loved reading this! Thanks for sharing !!! You are so right!! I bet your home is absolutely stunning 🤩 🥰
Love checked design
FARMHOUSE forever I say. Maybe it’s because I have a large farm😂😂
Then farmhouse 100% honey!!!!!🥰🥰🥰
Yes, lots of snow still in my yard 6 days later!
Wow!! Where are you?!
I loved this video, agree with most of it. Great advice ❤ love, Ms. Donna I do still have a red truck I put out at Christmas 🎄 😂 this is the hill I’ll die on.
Then we will bury you with your little red truck! Mrs Donna you made me laugh out loud lol love you 😂😂😂
@ 😆😆😆
Mirror's never go out of fashion and bows depending where you put them and when you place them, antiques never go old
D
this was a fun video i agree on everything no farmhouse
i love going to thrift stores also finding uniqie things
Ughhh I use to be obsessed with thrifting and our thrift stores just make me mad now Lisa! They prices are absolutely ridiculous! I’m so sad!! I miss the good ol deal days!
I do hate big box stores, and Amazon items. Love the antique stores, consignments shops.
Love it!
Your half bath is kind of color drenched and it is beautiful!
Yess! Almost! I don’t think did the ceiling? Did I ? Idk I have to go see now lol but I know I didn’t do the baseboards! 😂
Well Holly this video was so much fun! I agree with you on so many things but one thing you like and looks beautiful in your home I don't care for and that is the little bows everywhere maybe it's my age or that I don't really do it correctly thank you for the video fun fun
I hear ya! I guess some things are just a matter of taste! 😂 they are just fun to me !!!
I don’t follow the trends. I’d like what I like.
And I bet your home is sooo cozy for it!
I love that you’re in your blue and white era!!! I’m with you!
Lots of it.
I love seeing people's homes too! Makes me feel so inspired. And great idea about the wall paper!
I believe the bows on everything is dying out
I agree I think so too but I’m holding on to it bc it’s so cute 😂😂
I just add color I love my all white
I keep my home with what I love.....Styles always change ...I do what mt eyes can live with ....lol
That is so true! You’ve got to love what you live with! 😄 love this !
Real wallpaper is so much easier to put up !!! No sticker wallpaper. Real wallpaper you can move it around to like it up straight.
I agree!!!
I like your live also
Gnomes are def out!!
I didn’t ever like them 🤷🏼♀️🙈😂
@ lol same!!!
Loved this! I actually posted a very similar video this morning! We should probably collab sometime Hollie ☺️🙌🏼♥️
yay first to say hello !
Hi there, thanks for watching!
❤ TFS ❤
❤
I like whites, just not the ones on the cold spectrum. The undertone is important. Love white kitchens!
Not into Target decor to be honest. 😉
I agree- Joanna’s style has changed, and not for the better, in my opinion.
I feel the same way about Target and I think I agree with you about Joanna’s style… It’s been changing a lot in the past few years.
It’s still absolutely beautiful to me but not my actual taste! 🥰
I got super tired of the buffalo red/black print. Never use it again.
❤❄️
Black and white checks are classic to a certain extent. Such as floors. I think as a trend on mugs, vases, etc, it will be a trend that goes out.
Bows, definitely trendy. I like them, but I prefer florals. They were in style in the 80s, so I’m sure they will be back in the 2060s. 😂
Ornate mirrors- although they are trendy right now, they are based on an antique style, which never goes “out”.
Scallops are trendy, but they go in and out, and I always love them, I just enjoy when something I already love comes in because it makes it easier to find. 😊
Wicker- I love it on my back porch, and small doses inside.
I do like neutrals on large surfaces.
