First Time Tandem Sky Dive At PL Strefa In Gliwice, Poland!

Hello fellow adventurers! It's Oliver here from @oliverradventures, and I am thrilled to share my latest escapade with you. Last weekend, I had the exhilarating opportunity to experience my first tandem skydive at PL Strefa in Gliwice, Poland. Having finally reached the height of 1m 40cm at age 9, I was able to take part in this amazing activity for the first time!

From the moment I arrived, I felt a sense of excitement and camaraderie that set the tone for what was to come.
Before taking to the skies, there’s a bit of preparation involved. After signing some paperwork (don’t worry; it’s all standard safety stuff), we attended a brief training session where our instructors explained what we could expect during our jump. They covered everything from how to position our bodies during freefall to what we should do when landing.
I’ll admit, I was a little nervous! The thought of jumping out of a plane at 4,000 metres was both thrilling and terrifying. However, as I looked around at my fellow jumpers, one of whom was my dad, looking equally anxious but excited then I realised that we were all in this together.
Once suited up in our harnesses, we boarded the small plane that would take us up into the skies above Gliwice. As we ascended, I gazed out of the window at the breathtaking views below, at all the tiny buildings and houses that looked like something out of a toy village.
The atmosphere inside the plane was electric! Everyone was buzzing with anticipation as we climbed higher and higher. At around 4,000 metres (approximately 13,000 feet), it was time for us to prepare for our jump.
When the plane door opened at altitude, my heart raced faster than ever before! The rush of wind filled the cabin as my instructor secured me into position. With one final look back at my dad still inside, who was cheering me on, I took a deep breath and leapt into the unknown!
For that first minute of freefalling at speeds exceeding 200 km/h (that’s about 124 mph!), everything else faded away, it was just me and the sky. The sensation was indescribable, it felt like pure freedom as I soared through clouds with nothing but air beneath me.
At approximately 1,800 metres (around 5,900 feet), my tandem pilot deployed our parachute. Suddenly, everything changed the rush transformed into serene gliding as we floated gracefully through the air on an open parachute canopy.
This part of the experience lasted about 8-10 minutes and allowed me to take in stunning panoramic views over Gliwice and beyond. It felt surreal, one moment I was plummeting towards Earth like a stone, now I was drifting peacefully above it all.
During this time in flight under the canopy, my instructor even allowed me to take over steering, which was great fun as I spun us around a few times.
Touching down safely brought immense relief followed by overwhelming joy! Once emotions settled down slightly from adrenaline highs experienced moments earlier, it hit me just how transformative this journey had been.
