It's a little sad that Fantano has to address the trans hate before even going to the review proper. I do hope he doesn't shy away from featuring and reviewing music made by other trans artists though, because we can only combat hate with exposure, the hey we're actually not a boogieman. Also because I want him to review whatever 100 gecs cooks up next
I think he elaborated on that because Black Dresses expressed they were being harassed by a lot of their new fan base (I remember them saying the majority of them came from TikTok) or something like that). I think it was more a “hey don’t fucking do that to them” message to his viewers.
I don’t think he’ll shy away from trans artists, Anthony couldn’t give a fuck if some people don’t like them, I guarantee he’ll keep reviewing music by trans artists
So you listen to music because of their sexuality? I listen to music for entertainment and if they can actually sing. Basically, I listen to people with talent. No talent, no listen. Listening is about the art, not about what bathroom they use... .. but to each their own..

I.. huh, I thought this sounded familiar. I used to talk with one of the members of Black Dresses back in 2009 when she had a project called Eat Babies. This is so fucking weird. A voice I knew I heard before but couldn't believe it was the same person. We were talking about me playing guitar for her when she was gonna do a tour of Canada.

For real, ngl i cried a little at the intro, discovered black dresses right as they "disbanded" so this is super exciting
@Nicholas H It was more of a "please don't be a dick" and feeling cautious because fantano knows he broadcasts to some toxic as fuck people and has no control over them. Given that they disbanded over harassment, I can understand it, but he still put this review out and reviewed their most recent album too.

When this came out I was literally in shock I fell in love with their stuff after PEACEFUL AS HELL and was so sad I came too late to enjoy more so I’m just so happy they’re still making beautiful and abrasive music.

But to assume that it means better than ever is kinda reaching on your part. If he meant better than ever, he would’ve just said that. Just because “harder than ever” has a positive connotation, that doesn’t mean it’s synonymous with “better than ever”
I interpreted that as it’s heavier and has higher highs but he think PAH is more consistent. Personally I think this is much better

I'm new to this band, and haven't gotten far into the album - but I just want to savor that first impression from Peacesign forever. My goodness, that mixture of raw frenzy, calm and awkward drowsyness is intoxicating.
Wish they were on other streaming platforms, but I understand the reason during the backlash. I will gladly pay for their album.
