    It looks really good! I cut my own hair, and the hardest part to do is the crown, I always end up cutting the parietal ridge either too long or too short. Because my hair always looks like an Afro when I domt cut off a bit off my crown 👑
    I know I have to do clipper over comb, but it’s hard when I’m literally doing it myself and can’t see behind my head 😂
    And you’re the type of video I’ve been looking for! You made it so his head is even out, his top 👑 matches his sides, and you left his parietal ridge a medium length, something I’ve been trying to do, so i could have a long top on, without it looking bulky

    love that technique or fading been using similar technique myself recently i like the strech fade myself especially with a lot of hair on top i find fading up is very easy to follow it leaves very little to polish off at the end of the cut and eradicates that stubbourn skin line by taking the trimmer line slightly up

    That was cool Michael!! Your freehand scissorwork on the fringe was exciting to watch. I'm actually rewatching, I want to see it again, lol (along with the other scissor technique I haven't seen before).
    Speaking of scissors, are there a pair or two that you might recommend that aren't super pricey? I have a couple friends who've volunteered to let me practise the different skills I've been learning from you (that I've only been able to try on my own hair due to lockdown).
    Thanks in advance for any recommendations 🤗

    • @theoneminutebarber
      @theoneminutebarber  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When I started out I used Jaguar scissors which are really entry level professional scissor. Jaguar range in price here but in Canada I'd have thought something between $50 and $150.
      A step up would be something like tondeo.
      The scissors I use in this video are Osaka Vega. I like them because they have the little thumb pivot. And good steel.
      Cutting the fringe free hand ✋ is my favourite way to cut. I call it cutting without tension. If you rest the hair on the comb the hair is relaxed and when I cut I can see how it is going to lay and if I have enough weight to hold it down remember when you cut a fringe wet it will always be shorter dry. So leave it a bit longer wet. You can always fine tune it when it's dry.

      @@DelasVCyea man it's a good skill to have for sure, especially as a grown man. I've fucked my hair a couple of times in the past as I was learning but I can do a decent job of it now. Going to the barber every 1-2 weeks would be super expensive and its a good feeling when u know u can make urself fresh by doing a simple cut yourself.
      U can go quite far with just a 0 blade, a comb, 2 mirrors and scissors. It's rly not rocket science! The hardest thing will be hand-eye coordination due to the reflection, trust me!

    Amazing cut, this is exactly what I'm going for. Kinda hard to get a nice fringe buecause I have two cowlicks on the front, so I tend to keep the hair above the fringe longer to weigh down the cowlick, which means the hair style gets kinda sloppy. Trying hard to perfect it so it looks more straight towards the front like this.

    Awesome work with the fringe , could I do similar haircut to my hair (thick and hard hair) ? Because this fringe it quite short it will work on all but the most curly hair. But making two fringes is also a great technique for strong thick hair as there is a lots of weight removed from the under cut fringe. Xxxx

      Not so much for the barber but more for you. You might find blow drying well is of benefit. When your hair is wet blow dry it hot on full force forward. Then switch the hairdryer to cold and keep blow drying forward until the hair is cool. This should help with the direction.

    Thanks Michael! At 12:12, what's the purpose of a square shape across the top for the side (by lifting fingers up)? Is it for the side hair to gradually thin out toward the ends? What happens if the side has the same shorter length as the top? :)

    • @theoneminutebarber
      @theoneminutebarber  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wanted a bit more hair along the top of the parietal ridge area. That means if you look at the person face on there is a slight squareness to the top of the head. Some people think that can be more of a masculine shape.

      The sides are right down to skin. The top is probably about two or three finger widths. This is a really fun cut to do

    The disconnected space between the bangs and Parietal ridge. Would you just give more length at the top to fill that in if they don’t have a strong hair line?

    • @theoneminutebarber
      @theoneminutebarber  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could do that. But always think of the suitability of a haircut for the client. If the reason is they are receding I wouldn't do a cut like this, because it does need enough hair to create two fringes. Does that make sense.

    Hi Michael. Just wanted to ask if you use a fade blade on your seniors for fading or a taper? I’ve been using a fade blade and never used a taper blade since starting barbering. Michael.

    • @theoneminutebarber
      @theoneminutebarber  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Mike, I use a fade blade on my seniors. I love that wahl senior, I’ll be sad if they ever stop making it. It is by far the best clipper ever made imo.
      But I also have other clippers with taper blades. The taper blade does make life easier when tapering, the fade blade can be harder compared to curve out but not impossible

    • @michaelrodway7251
      @michaelrodway7251 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for responding ! I’m going to try a taper on senior and fade blade on my gamma x ergo. Just experimenting as interested to see what a taper blade is like or if much difference 😊. Hope you have an amazing Scottish New year :-)
      Ps. I bought your Udemy vid earlier in the year. Excellent stuff :-) Mike.

    i want you to cut my hair like this, i will serioulsy travel to where you are because the hair cutter i go to leave me uneven side. Thank you Josh. It might be a bit of a trek to get to me I'm in the north of Scotland. But glad you enjoyed the video.
      My advice re your own barber would be to shop around. You might need to visit quite a few barbers before you find someone that cuts to the style you want. Its such an individual thing. You are effectively picking an artist.

    Hi Michael, if the client or hair system has very dense hair, how can you achieve the same short look without looking bulky? Do you have a video or course on using thinning scissors to remove density/weight? Thanks!

    • @theoneminutebarber
      @theoneminutebarber  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't have anything specific for dense hair. But my general rule of thumb with thinning scissors is to cut the end third of the hair. If you use them to close to the scalp the short hairs wont lay flat and puch the rest of the hair up. causing a puffy look
