When I “think” of Orange County I think of Orange County Florida, where I live for the past 35 years. And that’s where Disney World is. After that, I think of Orange County, New York. (50 miles north of NY) and then Orange County, New Jersey. It’s kind of ostentatious for people out in California to imply that “OC” is something that’s nationwide we should all assume it’s orange county, California.

There’s like several hundred famous people that grew up in that county, and/or played on the Los Angeles sports teams. Why do they wait till the year 2023 the first give out this award. Did they not have the technology to do this earlier?

I only think people that were born or raised in that county should be honored. Not a sports star who played in Los Angeles. If that’s the case than so many Los Angeles dodgers players that should be inducted. Was Sandy Koufax inducted, one of the best baseball pitchers in history. And there’s quite a lot of celebrities that graduated from Beverly Hills High in the early 1980s. (I won’t name their names) but they should be in that way before Gwen Stefani
And what about all the Mickey Mouse club members like Annette Funicello should be inducted way before Gwen Stefani.

Most of the people inducted are ones that still proudly claim their OC roots. Just like any other place there are people who want to forget or deny where they came from. These people (for the most part) will continue to represent the OC in one way or another. Even Walt Disney, though he’s deceased, left a permanent monument to OC with Disney World in Anaheim. Gwen Stefani has a song titled “Orange County Girl”. She is constantly shouting out her roots.
There will be inductions every year to catch the others that deserve it.

The induction criteria states that someone must be a resident or have a business in Orange County for a minimum of 10 years. Kobe Bryant lived in Newport Beach from 2002-2020 (his death). He qualifies not because of the Lakers, but his place of residence.
