Thx for the updates on this Mark. You're my go to for pretty much all CFB. Some of your guests are solid quality, Tony is one.
If ESPN doesn't take up the 2027 option then you have a 3 year grant of rights. No one is paying $350 million+
The grant of right agreement was thru 2036, however the ACC members were under the impression the media rights deal also ran thru 2036. FSU found out ESPN had an option to opt out after 2027. If ESPN opts out the GOR's become worthless. No exit free will include a GOR purchase value beyond 2027 if ESPN opts out.
😂. Why on earth would ESPN not take up the option? This is a tremendous agreement for them.
@@pjtarheelcompletely agree. Unless they needed funds for something wise, but what would that be? Nothing major up fir grabs except nba that is almost finalized
Get an extension until February 2025 to make the decision. They were originally supposed to make the decision to take the option by end of 2021 but got the ACC to give them an extension until February 2025.
Beavzzu to the Atlantic coast is wild 🤯
How did I miss that Drew became a business court judge? Pretty wild
Courts use those uncomfortable cramped seating for viewers for a reason. I've been involved in one large U.S. city's budgeting for a courthouse renovation - its purposeful.
Was Tony ever a crime reporter? I thought I saw his name on a piece over the Manson stuff back in the day. Maybe it was just a weird dream.
Does anyone know, if Florida State & Clemson do break away from the ACC, espn & the remaining ACC teams would still be under contract till 2036 correct? Because most of the remaining teams could afford to leave. Or would espn cancel the contract?
@ervinjd depends on how they get out. Likely a settlement will be reached before the case goes to trial. FSU and Clemson will pay an agreed upon exit free that will be the baseline for any other teams wishing to exit. ACC will want to make the exit fee high (300 to 350 million) so other teams will not be able to come up with the exit fee. FSU and Clemson would likely accept a settlement around 200 to 250 million. ACC will want to avoid a trial. If the court rules against the ACC they may get nothing or a minimal exit fee of about 50 million.
@@garyscott4847 yeah I figured the exit fee would be to steep for most of the ACC, wondering if espn would then void the contract, because the ACC value to them would be damaged. Any thoughts?
GO NOLES 🍢🍢
It makes no sense for FSU and Clemson to go to the Big 12.
The only practical scenarios are:
1. Rejected by both B1G and SEC (Plausible by one, but not likely both)
2. Yormark seals a massive private equity deal.
Staying in the ACC is not an option at this point, and going independent won't generate nearly as much revenue nor will it be favorable for them in regards to the CFB Playoff.
Them numbers are way too high.
Go Clemson
@@bigtomcallahaniv3072 You've got to be compensating for A LOT calling YOURSELF "Big Tom Callahan IV." LMFAO!
@@encycl07pedia- Keep being delusional! Explains why AAU accreditation will never be had by Clemson and FSU. LMAO!😂
@@bigtomcallahaniv3072 Do you ever get tired of being wrong, little guy?
So something you need to take away from Tony’s coverage here. All they’ve done to this point is argue jurisdiction. There has been nothing done on the merits of the case yet. FSU has almost no chance to “win” the actual case.
So with nothing done on the merits of the case, you come to that conclusion? Brilliant thinking there chief.
@@michaelsell6328 huh? How did you make that connection? No I’m basing that on various people who have looked at the legal aspects of the case. These were two separate points, while pointing out that people who are indicating there has been progress made by either side on the actual case don’t really know what they are talking about.
lol. Keep telling yourself that. It's going to be nice seeing the state of North Carolina's unemployment rate go up when the ACC goes belly up.
I can’t speak to the merits of who wins these cases. Too early. But FSU and Clemson both wanted a quick settlement to leave, that is definitely not looking likely. To leave this season, it’s apparent that they’ll have to announce their departure without a settlement or any case decisions being made whatsoever.
So this guest is saying basically pay ACC everything ...dumb. Why would they pay the entire amount? That's not even a negotiation. Try again. I would bet it will be in the $250M range...if not ACC will potentially get zero...but that would be typical ACC to blow it..
am a SEC fan, do not want either team, university. I say, let the SUNBELT CONF have them.

I’ve noticed the latest frenzy seems to be generated mostly by Big 12 people who are depressed about their lot in life these days.
@@Mech-18-h83xthere is zero evidence either the Big 10 or the SEC has any interest in FSU. This is something most people on social media seem to not understand
@@Mech-18-h83x lol. FSU beat LSU two years in a row, including one year when LSU won the SEC West. FSU gave Ole Miss a 22-point lead and still won the game by double digits. Worst case is FSU is the 4th-best team in the SEC.
TAMU won 11 games their first season in the SEC. The year before they were 7-6 in the Big 12. Mizzou won the SEC Least twice in their first 3 years.
@@Mech-18-h83xwe have beat LSU twice in a row and Texas does not scare me neither does Bama without Sagan. Right know UGA is the big dog but we would catch them.
