I notice that a lot of the rolling stock at Shildon comes from York, and I’m getting very worried that the NRM won’t have anything left in it soon. In the past few years they’ve given over 8 exhibits to other places, and the great hall is noticeably more empty. I really don’t understand the decision to remove the LMS coach from Duchess of Hamilton either. If York doesn’t pick up, I’ll just visit Shildon from now on.
Great video Alan, many thanks for posting. APTE is not my bag either but the prototype HST was. Growing up partly on the SR out of Stewarts Lane I liked the 71, 73 and 74 class. As a bus man my whole working life I did enjoy the Leyland National Bus on rails :)
Nice place to visit. Bet you bought a new model or two. You can't leave without purchasing something first. I'd like to visit Shildon Museum myself, the only problem is I'm too far away.
Horse and carriage technology well. .horse and street car technology, PEOPLE have no feel for the 1800s and early 1900s.. Everything was horse and human powered and MANY machines existed that were just mechanical....Simple steel wheels on steel track is a HUGE part of the machine....... how about the locomotion... .
Couldn't have nicer stuff displayed.. I like the coaches..the locos are amazing MACHINES but let's face it how great looking can a vehicle that's a hot water heater or a generator look
Hi Al It’s the weekend 20th & 21st July at the Chatham Historic Dockyard plenty of parking onsite. I will be there both days helping out and I think Cpt Static is looking to go on the Saturday.
Hi Kevin. I am actually looking to go to the Chatham show on the Sunday, not the Saturday. I can't go on the Saturday as I will be working as usual. Best wishes. Mark.
Hello Alan. I've never been to Shildon, so thanks for showing us around. Enjoy your time with your family. Best wishes. Mark.
