Ruth’s Chris converted me from vegetarianism like 20 years ago. My high school boyfriend took me to impress me. I ordered the portobello mushroom steak, but his T-bone smelled so amazing that I had a reluctant bite and never looked back.
Ignore the haters, Julia. I loved this episode. The thing I love the most about this series is that you are always you! And I love Chelsea too. The two of you make the ultimate team! :)

I'm vegan too, and even if I wasn't I'm not impressed by the food in most of these videos. It's too often just huge portions of cheese and fried everything, but I love the enthusiasm and I'm mostly broke so this is the closest to just ordering and eating whatever I please in a restaurant. Nobody cooks for me. I cook for everyone else.

I asked my wife to marry me at the Honolulu Ruth's Chris in 2002. I wrote to the HQ and had a dessert menu made up and the last dessert at the time was ice cream and I had it changed to my proposal. The leather bound menu is still prominent in our home!

Fun fact about hollandaise sauce- My mom is an incredible chef and makes filet mignon eggs Benedict on holidays sometimes. When my siblings and I were younger, we thought it was pronounced “holiday sauce” because we had it on holidays. Fun fact. ❤️😊

Fun fact Hollandaise Sauce is a mother sauce. From the mother hollandaise, you add a reduction of vinegar shallots and tarragon and you get Bearnaise Sauce. So yummy
Bernaise = Hollandaise with Tarragon. My personal favorite sauce, especially with a Filet. Come to New Haven, Connecticut for pizza! Pepe's, Sally's, Modern, etc.!

I was at Ruth Chris stake House in May 2021. My daughter had Graduated.We were at the Birmingham Alabama location. I really enjoyed myself the food was on point the service was on point. I would recommend it for any one you will enjoy.🥰

Also, the OP is Sri Lankan, which is basically an island nation rich in seafood based cuisines, so having a shellfish allergy when surrounded by wonderful spices and seafood variety must really suck. My heart goes out to the OP.

I love watching all of Julia’s videos. I watched a ton of them while I was in the hospital preparing for my sons arrival. I’d love if she went to Morton’s Steakhouse! It’s my favorite upscale steakhouse. She needs to try their filet with a side of lobster macaroni and cheese. No offense to Ruth Chris, I love that she was a single mom running an all female restaurant.
Trek down to Lancaster county Pennsylvania and visit the largest and best buffet. Shady Maple is an Amish owned buffet that is huge and delicious. Go for dinner on steak or seafood night.
we're going at the end of next week on our way home from ocean city, i told my husband we must stop off in amishland and go to the shady maple, so we are, i'm so excited!

Hey Julia, I love all of your shows ❤. Just wanted to let you know that bernaise(sp) sauce is basically the same as hollandaise only with more lemon 🍋and the herb 🌿is tarragon!! It is lovely as well!!! Thanks for all your great work!!!!! 👍
I am from New Orleans and my brother’s were friends with the Fertel boys. When I got married in the early 70’s, anytime we had a celebration we went to Ms. Ruth’s to eat. One of my favorite things that they serve that I think you really missed was the Shrimp Remoulade. It is wonderful, boiled shrimp with a New Orleans Remoulade sauce. The sauce is thick and a little spicy and sets off the shrimp perfectly!!. I think you are correct with your review of the cheesecake, sweet potato casserole and the spinach casserole. If you really want the “original” BBQ Shrimp you will have to go to Pascale Manale’s in New Orleans who were the inventor of the dish. It is quit a bit different than Ruth’s and oh, so much better!!! Bon Appetite!!!!
Julia, the main difference between a Hollandaise sauce and Bearnaise is the addition of a tarragon reduction. Keep up the great videos, we love watching them!

p.s. all these dishes first get approved by the ruths chris in chicago, i work there so I am kinda proud of the fact we get the last say in what then gets served in every other ruths chris in the world! Currently 10 contries lol. If anyone stops at the ruths chris in northbrook IL(downtown chicago location closed) then be sure to ask for me!!(arbaz).
Oh my God everything sounds and looks so delicious! When I was little, my dad would have his martinis nightly, and he would always give me the cocktail onions that were soaking inside the glass!
That's fantastic! When it was hot in the summer, my parents liked vodka tonics or similar type beverages. My dad taught me how to make them. I was around 10 or there about. They had their own bartender. Needless to say it was one of my moonlighting jobs when I was older.
I've never been to Ruth's Chris (yet) because I was intimidated on what to order. This video helped tremendously! Please try Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen! 😘
I love Ruth’s Chris and eat there all the time. I love their lobster Mac & cheese and sweet potato soufflé. I like the spicy shrimp at Ruth’s Chris over Bang Bang shrimp at Bonefish.
I have always wanted to try eating at Ruth's Chris's steak house but I've never had the opportunity to do so. The food looks so good and I bet it tastes even better then it looks. Maybe one day I'll be lucky enough to have the chance to enjoy a meal there but until then I'll can at least watch you enjoy eating there and dream about it being me one day.🤟😲👍

Berries and cream is a secret menu dessert there and it’s berries with a chantilly cream and it’s really good. My favs are your favs too, I love ravioli, the filet, and the cheesecake!

Highly recommend it. Choose the lobster Mac as a side, it stole the attention from the other dishes we got as a family.

The original restaurant was 5 blocks from my house. We only went there once a year for my father's birthday, but I remember it well.

Oh my God everything sounds and looks so delicious! When I was little, my dad would have his martinis nightly, and he would always give me the cocktail onions that were soaking inside the glass!

That's fantastic! When it was hot in the summer, my parents liked vodka tonics or similar type beverages. My dad taught me how to make them. I was around 10 or there about. They had their own bartender. Needless to say it was one of my moonlighting jobs when I was older.

I love Ruth’s Chris and eat there all the time. I love their lobster Mac & cheese and sweet potato soufflé. I like the spicy shrimp at Ruth’s Chris over Bang Bang shrimp at Bonefish.
I have always wanted to try eating at Ruth's Chris's steak house but I've never had the opportunity to do so. The food looks so good and I bet it tastes even better then it looks. Maybe one day I'll be lucky enough to have the chance to enjoy a meal there but until then I'll can at least watch you enjoy eating there and dream about it being me one day.🤟😲👍

The BBQ shrimp is the New Orleans style “bbq” not the BBQ we think of when we eat ribs. It’s more like Cajun seasonings and butter.
I would say it’s their take on the New Orleans version. The Nola version should have beer, Worcestershire, garlic, butter and lemon.
We’ve got one in Baltimore. I took my wife there for our anniversary. Dinner for two plus a bottle of wine was $200 but worth every penny!
