@@joaquin5929same here... Most probably it's because there wasn't enough space for another solo "artsy" female artist to make his list, in order to make it as diverse as possible, with Beth Gibbons taking that spot, which I think is acceptable. He gave Julia a strong 8 and Beth a strong 9 after all. There are obviously other solo female artists on this list, but they all kind of have a lot of different sounds, namely Chelsea Wolfe, Kim Gordon, Joanna Wang, Charli and I don't think all of them had a better score, and therefore he might have not loved as much, but are here for them standing out among the rest. That doesn't mean that Julia's latest didn't stand out, but maybe he felt there was a better album in the same vein sort of. He also left out The Smile, and last year he left out that Squid album in his mid-year list, then he included that in his year end, so maybe we'll have to wait for his year end list and hopefully Julia's will feature.

He isn’t wrong saying that Knocked Loose is top dog right now. My standout albums so far, in no order (subject to change lol) --Post Human Nex Gen by Bring Me the Horizon --Frog in Boiling Water by DIIV --Lives Outgrown by Beth Gibbons --Veritas by POD --empathogen by Willow --Only God Was Above Us by Vampire Weekend --Cowboy Carter by Beyonce --The Collective by Kim Gordon --My Stupid Life by Brittney Spencer --Little Rope by Sleater-Kinney --Prelude to Ecstasy by Last Dinner Party Pretty sure the new Lola Young will be a contender for the first half, but it just released two Fridays ago and I actually haven't listened to it in full yet. But the singles have been awesome and I'm excited to actually do a front-to-back listen.

My top 3 so far: 1. Billie Eilish - HIT ME HARD AND SOFT Literally 0 skips. The album did exactly what the title says, at least to me. 2. Knocked Loose - You Won't Go Before You're Supposed To Unlike Billie, this one hits HARD from start to finish. But also 0 skips. 3. Bring Me The Horizon - POST HUMAN: NeX GEn No this is no guilty pleasure, I enjoy this with pride. Found myself only skipping the OSTs. May Fantano steps on a lego for giving this one a 3. Other albums I enjoy, but not as much as the top 3, in no particular order: - Beth Gibbons - Lives Outgrown - Charli xcx - BRAT (somehow I enjoyed CRASH a bit more than this, might grow on me more further down the line tho) - AURORA - What Happened To The Heart? - KAYTRANADA - TIMELESS - Normani - DOPAMINE My disappointment of the year so far: - Dua Lipa - Radical Optimism It's just meh. Didn't grind any of my gears but couldn't scratch any of my itch. If it was made by any other artist I would just not care, but knowing it was from an artist who also made the great Future Nostalgia is disappointing. - Camila Cabello - C,XOXO This actually pissed me off because her 2nd album is actually one of my favorite pop albums of 2019. 2 albums later and now she's just a btec moombahton Charli xcx.
Agree. I pray to god that Freddie Gibbs and Madlib deliver on their third collab album (Montana). It supposedly be the final collab album, so I hope they end it off with a bang🤞
Guess we all have our own tastes but I find it hilarious almost none of mine overlap with Melon's. 1. Mannequin Pussy - I Got Heaven 2. IDLES - TANGK 3. BIG SPECIAL - POSTINDUSTRIAL HOMETOWN BLUES 4. Brittany Howard - What Now 5. Vampire Weekend - Only God Was Above Us 6. Master Peace - How To Make A Master Peace 7. Elbow - Audio Vertigo 8. Gary Clark Jr. - JPEG RAW 9. Billie Eilish - Hit Me Hard and Soft 10. KMFDM - Let Go
When cowboy Carter first came out I listened to it a lot to the point where I wondered if I just gassed it up for no reason. I took a break and listened to lots of pop and dance. Then I listened to it again recently and realized it’s actually really good. It sounds so good on the ears.
my 10 favourites (kind of in order): - Night Verses - Every Sound Has a Color In The Valley Of Night: Part II - Greyhaven - Stereo Grief - ERRA - Cure - Bilmuri - American Motorsports - Ghost Atlas - Dust of the Human Shape - Softcult - Heaven - Dead Poet Society - FISSION - Vampire Weekend - Only God Was Above Us - Maruja - Connla's Well - Chelsea Wolfe - She Reaches Out to She Reaches Out to She

Here are some of my favorites. Definitely not final, but I love these. 1. Chelsea Wolfe - "She Reaches Out to She Reaches Out to She" 2. Sylvaine - "Eg Er Framand" 3. Knocked Loose - "You Won't Go Before You're Supposed To" 4. Full of Hell - "Coagulated Bliss" 5. Charli xcx - "brat" 6. Cave Sermon - "Divine Laughter" 7. Allie X - "Girl With No Face" 8. Julia Holter - "Something in the Room She Moves" 9. Thou - "Umbilical" 10. Knoll - "As Spoken" 11. Iglooghost - "Tidal Memory Exo" 12. Dua Lipa - "Radical Optimism" (I know this one flopped, but I still like it. The extended version did help a bit, too) 13. Ulcerate - "Cutting the Throat of God" (This will almost certainly be higher, but I need more time with it) 14. Eivør - "Enn" 15. Kelly Moran - "Moves in the Field"
Charli Xcx - Brat Allie X - Girl with no face Beyonce - Cowboy Carter Kali Uchis - Orquideas MGMT - Loss of Life Twenty One Pilots - Clancy Yeat - 2093 Future, Metro - We Don't Trust You
My personal top 5 so far has to be: 1.- Por Cesárea (Dillom) 2.- Brat (Charli xcx) 3.- Blue Lips (ScHoolboy Q) 4.- Descartable (Wos) 5.- Dark Times (Vince Staples)
Alright I think I'll do a top 10 so far: 1. Tems (Born in the Wild) 2. Beth Gibbons (Lives Outgrown 3. Beyoncé (Cowboy Carter) 4. Charli XCX (Brat) 5. Kali Uchis (Orquideas) 6. Metro Boomin X Future (We don't Trust You) 7. NxWorries (Why Lawd) 8. MGMT (Loss of Life) 9. Vince Staples (Dark Times) 10. Joanna Wang (Hotel La Rut) There's probably something I forgot lol. I'm not entirely sure about BITW being first because there are so many good records, but it's an insane debut. It kind of sucks that I can't put Lupe Fiasco's Samurai on this because I liked it a lot.
Although you and I have different tastes, Anthony, I really appeciate your thoughtful reviews. Thank you. I'm moticing several other TH-cam music reviewers are essentially using long clips from your reviews and commenting on them. I am curious about your take on this? Thank you, Anthony.
My favorite albums of 2024 so far: - Cowboy Carter (Beyoncé) - Hit me hard and soft (Billie ellish) - Valedictorian (Ian) - GUTS (spilled) - Olivia Rodrigo
My top 5 albums this year: 5. The Secret of Us 4. XOXO, C 3. The Tortured Poets Department (UK Omicron Variant) 2. Eternal Floptism by Ariana Lipa 1. Dear Joe by Jax
My top 5 is: 5: Death Is Little More, by Boundaries 4: Angel Killer Zero, by Diamond Construct 3: YWGBYST - Knocked Loose 2: Paper Lily Ch.1 OST - Various Artists 1: Half Living Things - Alpha Wolf
Scrapyard does have some great songs but I hope his next project leans towards his more vibey, RnB style rather than his industrial existential dread type beat, type-songs. imo easier is the best song on that project by far and some of the best songs on I didn’t mean to haunt you are the ones with clearer song structures.
I've been absolutely obsessed with the new Knocked Loose album. I've been listening to it almost weekly since it was released. Such a bone-crunching and explosive piece of music.
Did you listen to Rachel Chinouriri’s debut album? I noticed earlier videos praising her EPs but can’t find anything discussing her debut album which was great. Curious about your thoughts!

Britpop - A. G. 1.) Blue Lips 2.) Dark Times 3.) brat 4.) Samurai 5.) Why Lawd? 6.) Hit Me Hard And Soft This is kinda in no particular order, because i really don't know yet. It's hard. I really don't know if i will know my order at the end of the year, especially since we still get a Denzel, a Rocky, a Peggy, a Kendrick, another Childish Gambino and maybe even a Rihanna Album this year. _(Edit: Found out apparently Freddie x Madlib Album? Like uh..???)_ _(Edit 2: forgot Clipse prod. by Pharrell)_ However, it is kinda in a particular order, because this is the order how i feel at the moment. *But:* this order changed 4 times while writing this comment. Pretty sure the new Lola Young will be a contender for the first half, but it just released two Fridays ago and I actually haven't listened to it in full yet. But the singles have been awesome and I'm excited to actually do a front-to-back listen.
Didn't know that POD made an album. Heard Afraid to Die with Jinjer's vocalist, it sounds pretty good.
in no particular order:
glass beach - plastic death
queef jerky - absolute madness
charli xcx - brat
kamasi washington - fearless movement
mother mother - grief chapter
shishamo - shishamo 8
jhariah - trust ceremony
necry talkie - torch
Yeat's 2093 is one of the best trap album of the last few years for me and I think it deserved a spot here.
some of my favorites so far:
paul bunyan's slingshot - liquid mike
brat - charli xcx
bright future - adrianne lenker
only god was above us - vampire weekend
silence is loud - nia archives
to all trains - shellac
triple digits [112] - ritchie
what now - brittany howard
dark times - vince staples
it's sorted - cheekface
Triple digits stays underrated
i don’t get the brat hype tbh
@@Dinosaur12349Exactly, one of the best rap albums of the year so far
Surprised Brittany Howard didn’t make his list 😢
respectfully this channel has a lot of promising potential, hopefully you will become big soon Cheers Man Keep Up The Good Work
Melon, you can't just scream Not Like Us for the entirety of the video and call that your favorite album of 2024
Woah that doesn‘t sound like a video I‘d enjoy watching. Thanks for the warning!
We found Drake’s burner account!!
lana pfp 😍
My Top 10:
10. Thou - Umbilical
9. Malignancy - ...Discontinued
8. Jazmin Bean - Traumatic Livelihood
7. Alligatoah - off
6. Kvadrat - The Horrible Dissonance Of Oblivion
5. Vitriol - Suffer & Become
4. Verberis - The Apophatic Wilderness
3. Aurora - What Happened To The Heart?
2. Orgone - Pleroma
...
1. Ulcerate - Cutting The Throat Of God
Cheers and have a good one!
Thou, Ulcerate, and Aurora are all up there for me, too 🙏
Top 5 so far:
1. Brat - Charli
2. Scrapyard - Quadeca
3. Challengers OST - Reznor & Ross
4. Starkisser - Sucre
5. Hit Me Hard & Soft - Billie
Brat is an absolute modern classic
Some of my favorites: Bright Future, A Dream is All We Know, You Like Music, Tidal Memory Exo, Fearless Movement, Shoelace and Knot, Samurai, Conla's Well, Scrapyard, This Could Be Texas, and Blue Lips.
My top 5 for the year so far:
1: Only God was above us
2: Brat
3: Dark times
4: Blue lips
5: Timeless
My top 3 so far:
1. Billie Eilish - HIT ME HARD AND SOFT
Literally 0 skips. The album did exactly what the title says, at least to me.
2. Knocked Loose - You Won't Go Before You're Supposed To
Unlike Billie, this one hits HARD from start to finish. But also 0 skips.
3. Bring Me The Horizon - POST HUMAN: NeX GEn
No this is no guilty pleasure, I enjoy this with pride. Found myself only skipping the OSTs. May Fantano steps on a lego for giving this one a 3.
Other albums I enjoy, but not as much as the top 3, in no particular order:
- Beth Gibbons - Lives Outgrown
- Charli xcx - BRAT (somehow I enjoyed CRASH a bit more than this, might grow on me more further down the line tho)
- AURORA - What Happened To The Heart?
- KAYTRANADA - TIMELESS
- Normani - DOPAMINE
My disappointment of the year so far:
- Dua Lipa - Radical Optimism
It's just meh. Didn't grind any of my gears but couldn't scratch any of my itch. If it was made by any other artist I would just not care, but knowing it was from an artist who also made the great Future Nostalgia is disappointing.
- Camila Cabello - C,XOXO
This actually pissed me off because her 2nd album is actually one of my favorite pop albums of 2019. 2 albums later and now she's just a btec moombahton Charli xcx.
July has some absolute bangers albums in store too. Can't wait
If Freddie and porter robinson deliver this is probably going to be my favorite year for music
I’m a bit nervous about the Porter one. Not sure I like the direction he took based on the singles that dropped
Agree. I pray to god that Freddie Gibbs and Madlib deliver on their third collab album (Montana). It supposedly be the final collab album, so I hope they end it off with a bang🤞
@@dkobolalmao this happens literally every time
@@iangarcia1585Wait Freddie album coming out?????
@@mequana Freddie and madlib linking up again for Montana 😼🔥🔥🔥
top 5 for me:
1. Scrapyard

3. brat
4. Penalty of Leadership
5. Pinball
Surprised lemon twigs didn’t make it!
Looks like he personally differs in opinion significantly from the released review video of the channel
@@fa2lemuelm2Im pretty sure the caption of that review said that he also loves it
@@roman76bd yes he does. But not to the level that he includes it as a fave album of 2024 here
Guess we all have our own tastes but I find it hilarious almost none of mine overlap with Melon's.
1. Mannequin Pussy - I Got Heaven
2. IDLES - TANGK
3. BIG SPECIAL - POSTINDUSTRIAL HOMETOWN BLUES
4. Brittany Howard - What Now
5. Vampire Weekend - Only God Was Above Us
6. Master Peace - How To Make A Master Peace
7. Elbow - Audio Vertigo
8. Gary Clark Jr. - JPEG RAW
9. Billie Eilish - Hit Me Hard and Soft
10. KMFDM - Let Go
Cindy Lee #1 spot
When cowboy Carter first came out I listened to it a lot to the point where I wondered if I just gassed it up for no reason. I took a break and listened to lots of pop and dance. Then I listened to it again recently and realized it’s actually really good. It sounds so good on the ears.
I would love to hear what your thouths are on the new DIIV!
bummed to not see Future Islands in here. the new record SLAPS
Agreed it’s another great release by them. Definitely one of my favorites in 2024

Night Verses are awesome! Saw them opening for TOOL not long ago, their drummer is an absolute beast 🤘

13. Ulcerate - "Cutting the Throat of God" (This will almost certainly be higher, but I need more time with it)
14. Eivør - "Enn"
15. Kelly Moran - "Moves in the Field"
My vote for best album so far is Yummy by James. 40 years they’ve been putting out epic records. Also, their vinyl releases are always on point.
Underrated band. Best since laid from 1993.
Charli Xcx - Brat
Allie X - Girl with no face
Beyonce - Cowboy Carter
Kali Uchis - Orquideas
MGMT - Loss of Life
Twenty One Pilots - Clancy
Yeat - 2093

9. Vince Staples (Dark Times)
10. Joanna Wang (Hotel La Rut)
There's probably something I forgot lol. I'm not entirely sure about BITW being first because there are so many good records, but it's an insane debut. It kind of sucks that I can't put Lupe Fiasco's Samurai on this because I liked it a lot.
Gave that Joanna Wang album a spin. What an incredibly versatile artist and great songwriter
what happened to the heart by Aurora is my #1
Although you and I have different tastes, Anthony, I really appeciate your thoughtful reviews. Thank you. I'm moticing several other TH-cam music reviewers are essentially using long clips from your reviews and commenting on them. I am curious about your take on this? Thank you, Anthony.
I’m really waiting for the new Opeth that has been hinted towards, hope you review that when it comes out
if ttpd was called the tortured bald people department you would have given it a 10
I'll give it a strong 9 to a light 10.
If Hyperdrama was called Hyperbald he would have given it a 10
My favorite albums of 2024 so far:

Thanks Melon, I finally know what my favorite albums of the year so far are and I don’t have to keep listening to Vultures 1 on a loop.
So glad to see vultures 1 on this list!
So was The Lemmon Twigs album just a Giggens 9 or a Fantano 9?

Top 3 for me
1. If I Could Sing - Kirin J Callinan
2. People Who Aren’t There Anymore - Future Islands
3. brat - Charli
Scrapyard does have some great songs but I hope his next project leans towards his more vibey, RnB style rather than his industrial existential dread type beat, type-songs. imo easier is the best song on that project by far and some of the best songs on I didn’t mean to haunt you are the ones with clearer song structures.
No Adrianne Lenker?
we gotta get a review for the new Thou album, you reviewed a couple of their singles but the whole record is incredible, aoty for me so far
Nice. I would add Waxahatchee, Mdou Moctar, Diiv and This is Lorlei❤
I've been absolutely obsessed with the new Knocked Loose album. I've been listening to it almost weekly since it was released. Such a bone-crunching and explosive piece of music.
thanks for the recommendations
Did you listen to Rachel Chinouriri’s debut album? I noticed earlier videos praising her EPs but can’t find anything discussing her debut album which was great. Curious about your thoughts!
Is the Cindy Lee album on streaming platforms?
my top 10 so far:

Only God Was Above Us - Vampire Weekend

5.) Why Lawd?
6.) Hit Me Hard And Soft
This is kinda in no particular order, because i really don't know yet. It's hard. I really don't know if i will know my order at the end of the year, especially since we still get a Denzel, a Rocky, a Peggy, a Kendrick, another Childish Gambino and maybe even a Rihanna Album this year. _(Edit: Found out apparently Freddie x Madlib Album? Like uh..???)_
_(Edit 2: forgot Clipse prod. by Pharrell)_
However, it is kinda in a particular order, because this is the order how i feel at the moment.
*But:* this order changed 4 times while writing this comment. So yeah. Lol.
Honorable mentions:
Lives Outgrown, Pulsar, Chambre 140, Atavista
Honorable mention?:
No Hands
Disclaimer:
Didn't listen to the $uicideboy$ Album yet
Didn't listen enough to the raveena Album yet
I don't know how to feel about might delete later
Unpopular opinion: I don't like the Beyoncé Album
Shoutout:
Yeah shoutout to We Don't Trust You and We Still Don't Trust You, they had a few bangers and kicked this huge throwing hands off, plus without it, the kendrick concert prolly wouldnt have been like what happened in the end
Last Disclaimer:
Yes, i am such a type of person who only listens to Hip-Hop
Yes, i know only listening to Hip-Hop is a bad music taste
So please don't jump me in the replies that i am not listening to all of music, i am aware of that :(
w for blue lips. listen to what you wanna listen to dawg don’t let others try and bring you down for that
It's safe to say that Beyoncé is the best artist in the mainstream with stable quality
Would love to hear your opinion of The Warning’s new release “Keep me fed”
The ladies are killing it this year😎
Now I can finally have opinions on all these albums, thanks Fantano!
