Hey, I kinda just signed up for this major not knowing how competitive it was and that it required these supplemental essays and stuff. Since I only have a few business related extracurriculars outside of class, I'm wondering whether or not I should take the time to make the best possible essay and interview, as I feel as if I am pretty far behind what you two have done. Thank you!
This is a super helpful video, thank you! You mentioned that if you don't get into GMP, you can still be admitted into the College of Letters and Science. If that happens, is it difficult to get a major you want (i.e. Data Science or Econ)? What do most students who'd like to later apply to Haas choose? Thank you!
Everyone admitted through the College of Letters and Science comes in undeclared. By completing prerequisites for specific majors, these students have the opportunity to declare a major, typically the end of sophomore year. Granted, some majors in specific colleges are more difficult to declare because they are competitive (ex. EECS in the College of Engineering and Business Administration in Haas). Students aiming for a business major from entering Berkeley under the College of Letters and Science are considered “pre-Haas,” and will need to apply into the business school their sophomore year. Typically, most students who do not get into Haas declare economics as their major instead because the requirements are similar. Here is a typical timeline for applying to Haas as a continuing student (students not in the GMP/MET/bio+business programs): Students will spend their freshman year working on pre-requisite classes and breadths (7 classes which are required for graduation). In your third semester (Sophomore Fall), the November 1st Haas application will open and must be submitted by November 30th. You may also receive an interview invitation during winter break if you are deemed a border-line candidate. Decisions for Haas as a continuing student will come out mid-February (Sophomore Spring). Hope this answered your question!
Hello! These questions will likely differ from year to year and/or per person, and we don't have the exact wording of each one but listed here are the 5 questions we received, as best we remember them: 1. How would you define global management? 2. What are you looking forward to in GMP? 3. What will you bring to the Berkeley/Haas community? 4. What are some of your experiences with diversity and what did you learn from them? 5. What are some of your community involvements?
Awesome video! I have a few quick questions. How many exact questions were there that Berkeley asked you during the interview? What was the last question that you said in the video when you were talking about the interview questions? Can you repeat the last question to me word for word? Thank you!
Hi Michael! Each of us were asked 5 questions for the interview and the last question was “What are some of your community involvements?”. However, questions might change this year and it may be handled with an actual interviewer on the phone/zoom/in-person instead of an automated recording.
@@michaellin6541 Wow! Congratulations! We didn't know GMP did interviews this early in the application season. Let us know if you have any questions (our socials/email are linked above). Best of luck :)
Hi! I do know some students that have already had their video interview for GMP (it said their deadline was earlier in January). Is that what you are referring to?
Hi Andrew! The GMP admission officers will have access to your entire UC application along with your GMP specific supplemental essay (and your video interview). Good luck on your apps! :)
If we don’t end up getting admitted to GMP, will we still be considered for the College of Letters and Sciences? Or is it only for those who didn’t submit their supplemental piece?
Anyone who does not get admitted into GMP will still have a chance to be admitted into the College of Letters and Science. Hope that answers your question! :)
The supplemental essay is for students applying to GMP, MET, or as a junior transfer to haas. More info on the application deadlines based on each program can be found here: haas.berkeley.edu/undergrad/admissions/new-admissions-important-dates/
@@CarlosRamirez-zl9bc Hi! They are usually very similar every year, but they do not publicize them. You would have to contact a gmp student from another year to get the exact prompt from them.

Is UC Berkeley Hass business school an undergraduate school? Or is just masters?
Hello! UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business offers undergraduate and graduate programs.
Is the supplemental application only for MET or does it apply to junior transfer for business administration as well?
