Never did I expect the freaking gank fight of the DLC would be one of the most emotionally loaded in the game.
Ok I'm glad I wasn't the only one that felt horrible Mowing these people down, our allies charmed by Miquella. Terrible fate
@@Grave___they aren’t charmed anymore. They are choosing to follow Miquella. Leda says that explicitly when the charm breaks as you enter the shadow keep.
Only Ansbach leaves Miquella and Thiollier if you do the St. Trina quest for him
Makes me a bit irritated we can’t choose to also but then the game would be over so not possible really.
@trevorwalsh7196 ahh I must've missed that oh well not as sad any more about tearing to pieces with my sanguine bro
Moore…dane…leda and freyja…i am so sorry for what i must do… you don’t deserve such a fate
@Grave___ I felt the same this theme really encapsulates the feeling of sorrow and dread knowing your compatriots are going to be put down by your own hand
My boys Ansbach and Thollier somehow became my favorite npcs despite thinking they wouldnt be anywhere near the top.
I was pleasantly surprised by them as well. I wasn't expecting them to be with us at the end but I wouldn't have it any other way.
The way Thioller apologizes to you too for doubting you always hits me. You can tell he feels deep remorse for pointing his blade at you over his own wounded ego of being a follower of Trina, for he knows since first meeting you you've done nothing but help him, informed him of the path to Trina and where only trying to relay the words she spoke to you. He may say he is only here to fulfill the singular wish of his lady, but you can tell it's more than just that, he wants to make amends with you the only way he know he can. By summoning the courage to fight by your side and lend you his strength in stopping Miquella
If only they were better fighters... For me, for some reason they just stayed in the corner, watching me getting beaten, unless I brought the fight to them.
@@alexandrejust4771 I noticed sometimes when fighting the final boss Thollier would just sit outside the boss door, lmao
@@soulkibble1466 Yeah that hit hard, especially after seeing his rage and mental breakdown after knowing that St. Trina spoke to you and not him, which made him feel more insecure of himself than he alread was. I liked the dude, and sympathized with him, so it was nice to see him trying to make amends and recognize his rather impulsive reaction that was fueled by self hatred and obsession.
Leda fought for Miquella.
Dane fought for Leda.
Ansbach fought for Mohg.
Thollier fought for Trina.
Freyja fought for honor.
The Hornsent fought for revenge.
Moore fought for his friends.
And we, the Tarnished, fought for ourselves.
A patchwork of affections but loosely aligned. No wonder things ended in heartbreak.

Everyone remained loyal and fought for thier belief i would say. No one was a betrayer.
Wasn't it said that Dane was in Miquella's service longer than her? Plus he is always mentioned in the beginning
I think Dane fought for Miquella, in the hopes of a new god; Leda fought for Miquella as her liege and the one who raised her to knighthood. Just as Ansbach fought for Mohg - those two are more alike than they are different.
Seeing all their corpses flanged across the arena after the fight is such powerful imagery to convey the brutality of the fight

In some texts in the game it directly references that "Miquella has the capacity to be loved, but no capacity to love." He was the one who drew Malenia to fight radahn so he could steal radahns soul. When Radahn didnt die, he had to wait for the Tarnished to eventually kill him so he can reap radahns soul and place it into moghs body.
He used EVERYONE. But still claims to be making a better world of peace, and fails to mention to any of them that said peace comes at the cost of your free will. The npcs are incredible in the dlc. Fromsoft went all out with their characters this time around.
He wasn't "simping" over St. Trina.
More importantly he did not "outgrow" his loyalty to St. Trina.
The only reason Thiollier was fighting was because of St. Trina's wish to stop Miquella.
Thiollier only attacks us because he believes that we're lying, since he's the only real follower of St. Trina there, and you're trying to deceive/mock him.

@@CreativeUsernameEh You never really were allys. You followed the same traces like them, but as ansbach and thiollier you had a reason to kill miquella and not allow her to Ascend.
You can watch a lore video to double check but prior to leaving for the Shadow Realm Miquella set upon a spell/charm on our lovely rag tag group of NPCs. During your play through you’ll encounter a world event, I believe after defeating Mesmer, where there will be two dialogue boxes that pop up one stating that Miquella’s Great Rune has shattered and the other about a spell being lifted; the spell that was beseeched on the NPCs that traveled to the Realm of Shadow.
You can progress the questlines of the NPCs and make some choice that will determine who you fight in the gank and who fights with you. So out of all the gank fights in FromSoft I think this one has the greatest emotional impact and the best to play out. However, I still find them a little off. To me, gank fights never really felt comparable to the 1v1 fights like Messmer, Midra, etc. or the 1v2 fights like O&S, Twin Princes fight, etc. Yet, out of all the ganks I think this one is the best balanced since they stagger the summon timings and, if you did certain questlines in a certain way plus your mimic, you’ll have the opportunity to make the fight a 5v3.
You can shed tears to a game too. Just another type of media.
This is what Sir Gideon Ofnir Fight was supposed to be...
I don't think so. Gideon positioned himself as the 'leader of the Roundtable' but did nothing to earn or act like it. Maybe if his agents and spies were named characters then yeah but it's fitting that Gideon in the end is completely alone
@@RedTigerDragoon it would be better if he somehow manipulated other tarnisheds to fight for his interest, or if somehow some of them were loyal to him no matter what and you have to call your allies, don't know...
Nah, Gideon is just a pathetic man who is not strong enough to do anything alone and uses everyone around him to achive his goals
Agreed, but I don't think Gideon could take Leda, or any of these NPC's in a fight 1v1.
I always thought Gideon's fight was supposed to be a sad man's attempt to stop you from attempting to do something he believed impossible. Less of a fight, more of a cinematic moment, like Gwyn fight in DkS 1
"I could not hope for a worthier foe. This is our moment! Let us make it something to remember!"
"An honor it is, to face a Redmane."
Freyja was the only person in that fight to actually die happy, but it's also mainly because unlike everyone else, she got to CHOOSE her side instead of being manipulated into it.
@@StrikeWarlock i mean everyone else got to choose as well, since the charm breaks well before the final confrontation. thollier definitely chooses a side since he fights with you and chooses st trina over miquella if you help him in pursuing her. ansbach does as well obv, by again going against miquella to fulfill his own wishes once he knows the truth. leda and dryleaf dane were both already followers of miquella and weren't charmed by the end, so theyre just doing what they already wanted to do charmed or not. moore just kinda exists lol. hornsent follows miquella because he genuinely believes he will literally erase the erdtree, marika, the golden order as a whole, those blessed by it, and ultimately atone for their sins which he wants whether you help him or not.
freyja was literally just on miquellas side because she convinced herself this is what radahn might maybe possibly but dont know for sure want cuz like war bro n also he did a vow even tho miquellas order would be one ideally and theoretically without war and radahn could very well have been coerced via charm to make said vow lol

The fact that this is an NPC gank fight and happens to be one of the best fights in the dlc is amazing to me. Fromsoft finally figured out how to do it right. Each of these characters are deeply integral to the story of shadow of the Erdtree and you grew to trust them throughout the journey before they all turn on you because you intend on facing Miquella in combat. Then Thiollier and Ansbach join you because of their reasons, and if you use a spirit ash it becomes a 4 v 4 fight. Us vs them. It’s really powerful, emotional, and also just awesome. After so long. They did indeed do it right. The fact that five of the NPC’s turn on you sorely because you intend to fight Miquella, it’s a great narrative. And if you explore enough, Ansbach and Thiollier join you for their own causes.
The camaraderie between you three, all ascending to the top of Enir-Ilim for their own reasons, it’s a damn fantastic narrative. Probably one of my favorite fights in the DLC.

This fight truly was the peak of the DLC for me. All these characters with different motivations all join together or against each other. Truly heart wrenching stuff. It's amazing.
And people say FromSoftware doesn't have good characters or side quests that chain into the main game, LOL!
It was the moment I started hating the dlc. So sad that we can’t pick a side but I forgot it’s not an RPG
@@CreativeUsernameEh Kinda the entire point of the DLC is that a regime under Miqy would be no different than the current one under Marika.
He threw away every aspect of himself that would’ve made him a great god in order to ascend to godhood thus making the “other side” nothing more than complacency. You cannot make a gentler world without the ability to love and empathize.
Miqy is a fool.
I’m just under the impression that the thousand year voyage of compassion would be against everyone’s will.
Ranni for example wants everyone to be free from the Gods and make their own decisions, and the Tarnished represents that individualism. Even if you’re role playing as a “good guy” you probably want people to make those choices for themselves.
I find it Ironic that you’re basically fighting Sweet Baby Inc in these boss fights
@@Garl_Vinland I also love the contrast between Miquella and Ranni. Ranni isn’t at all a good “person” but even she understands that the lands between would be better off without the interference of gods/demigods.

The best part of this fight was the dialogue man. When Ansbach came in it was fucking hype as hell. One of my most favourite parts of the dlc

I STAND WITH BLADE ALOFT, BLADE AFIRE
I thought I would be fighting side by side with Leda at the end, not against her.. But I suppose our paths diverged long ago.
I kind of like the twist it reminds me a bit of the armored core 6 type storyline which is one of my favorites for some reason
When she began to suspect Ansbach and Thiollier, I started to think that she had become obsessed with Miquella. After St. Trina told me to kill Miquella, I concluded that we would soon be fighting her.
To be fair to her, it was you (us) who deceived her the entire time
@@Pseudowudoh wasn't that technically Miquella's magic charm doing the job?
@@aquasomnus We were guided by grace to seek out Miquella (the sites of Grace still points the way in the Land of Shadow for us), likely with the intention of slaying him for his Great Rune like the rest of the demigods we felled. beautiful OST, I think I unironically got teary eyed as I saw moore get summoned to fight me..
From a thematic and story standpoint this is my favorite boss fight in gaming. A group once united is now in opposition because of each individuals ideals, and it’s only made more tragic by the somber yet epic score.

A gank squad fight that isn't terrible? It's not as rare as you might think
This is exactly what I wanted Roundtable Hold to be in the vanilla game: a lot of people from different walks of life, and with different agendas, all coming together under an uneasy alliance -- and alliance that gradually shatters as their own missions take priority, until they reach this ultimatum where the only way forward is to fight.
i like how this fight gives you a sneak peak of what miquellas world would have been like, unlikely allies compelled to work with each other only to fall into mistrust and war once the enchantments break.
They did NOT need to go that hard with this song😭 such a banger

Man i love the dialogue in this game, First Bayle, then this, Oh my god, this is how you make DLC, this is literally Elden Ring 2 lol
From the first time I've booted the DLC until now, 90 hours of DLC later, I can't stop being dumbfounded and impressed by how much "Elden Ring 2" this really is.
Yeah, it is a different type of sequel. It necessarily uses your main character to progress and yeah, ok, there isn't much progression in terms of stats like the original does, but this is not the point.
The first game is how a tarnished with no renown became the Elden Lord the world needed, defeating a broken order in order to stablish not peace, but freedom.
This DLC... THIS FUCKING SEQUEL, is basically a clash between two gods, with two lords, who cannot stand defeat. Its a war between the very last lineage of Marika and his lord vs you in a land where you are totally unwelcome and hated. It's your last effort to make things right.
IT'S A FUCKING INCREDIBLE CONCEPT HOLY SHIT.
YEAH... IT'S ELDEN RING 2, and there was no other way to tell this story. It's a concept of sequel that would ONLY work with your original character, in my opinion.
EDIT: I love the fact where in the first game, it takes a LOOOOT of time for you to be respected, where in this DLC you are, from the very start, the one that everyone knows... Your tale... Your victories have spread across... Even in the Realm of Shadows, the true hell of the Lands Between. There is no one who doesn't know your name... And renown.
Leda: I'm sorry, for speaking to you as a compatriot when we stood before the withered arm

@@missingone9185 Tbf Leda isn’t a tarnished, she never would have been to the roundtable
@@arcion5038she is a tarnished. Only not of Marika. If only there would be another way.
@@arcion5038 "Blessing of Needle Knight Leda. An unalloyed light that has never dwelled in an eye. [.....] Miquella gifted Leda with gentle gold to bring a soft hue to her faded eyes."
Her rune's description implies that she was a tarnished but had the gold in her eyes restored, or rather filled with unalloyed gold, by Miquella, which is why she's so fanatically loyal to him. Tarnished are called Tarnished because the golden light of grace in their eyes faded away, or "tarnished". Presumably this act also removed the guidance of grace from her as well, if she even had it at all. Remember, very few tarnished are left that actually see grace, afaik only the main character and Godfrey see grace currently. Some tarnished like Roderika didn't even see it in the first place. The fact that the light in Leda's eyes never dwelt in eyes seems to show that unalloyed gold is separate from the gold in the eyes of the inhabitants of the lands between, since unalloyed gold was Miquella's attempt at creating a new order outside of the Golden Order free of the influence of the Outer Gods.
If you look at her character model, her eyes are all pale gold, confirming this. Also, remember that you need an invitation to Roundtable to even go there, so it's possible a lot of tarnished aren't deemed worthy to join, or don't see Roundtable as worth going to. I mean, Roundtable Hold when we get there is full of people with zero interest in lordship. Leda was an Oathseeker Knight before she became a Needle Knight, and her main goal was finding an oath worthy of lifelong devotion, and Roundtable hold was probably highly unappealing to her, though she presumably joined Miquella during the shattering when he was still in the Haligtree, and Roundtable Hold was still full of worthies like Vyke and Bernhal. Maybe she sought out Miquella because she determined him to be the kindest demigod who would be best suited to the oncoming age, and found the idea of being Elden lord unsuited to her. Actually, now that I think about it, were the Tarnished called in when the Elden Ring was shattered or after the Shattering came to a stalemate?
They honestly didn't have to go so hard on an npc gank fight but Im not complaining this ost is fire
I hated this fight for making me hate Moore, but afterwards I got the sense that it only added to the tragedy; it made me feel bad that I had to stay on him to avoid his throwing rot pots. And then Leda appeared: she and my girl engaged in duel, commander vs commander, to the tune of this music; I truly was on the edge of my seat. Man, I love this game so freaking much!
I did not expecy to end up with the enemies and allies I did in this shadowed realm, but maybe in another time, none of us would be fighting at all, and would instead be working together to see the crowning of a tarnished as a lord.
"I am Ansbach of the Pureblood Knights. I stand with blade aloft, blood afire, for the dignity of my lord and master Mohg." Pureblood Knight Ansbach.
that melody at 3:00 is so incredibly beautiful...
One of the best man really. We made 1 hour special mix in pinned comment
Genuinely the best track in all of Elden Ring, so much drama, so much power, this fight felt more like a final boss than Promised Consort.
My first attempt of this fight it really frustrated me (I hate Moore in the fight). I only had Ansbach & used Black Knife Tiche as my summon, but I always got double ganked (sometimes triple) & couldn't do anything. After about 3-4 hours of torture, I gave up for the day, the next day I switched from Rellana's swords to the Blade of Malenia & preceeded to Waterfowl Dance everyone to death & beat the fight on my second attempt that day.
Come my first ng+ run I was doing a Marika cosplay build, so a lot of holy incantations, including Light of Miquella & Realm of Shadow while using Marika's Hammer & Golden Order Seal. I had both Ansbach & Thioller available for the fight this time & used the Anna & Jolan summon & this fight became so damn fun. It was the most fun I had since Malenia. I wasn't stupidly overpowered against them. The music, the dialogue, the sounds of weapons clashing, the spells & incants from all the participants. It was so cool & epic.
Honestly of all the absolute banger pieces in the OST this one is my favourite so far. It's basically your theme. YOU'RE the boss in that fight and you cut through an entire pack. I love how the music hits that note right between determined and sorrowful.
Easily the best music in all of Elden Ring & probably one of if not the best fight in Elden Ring, in my opinion anyway.
Also if you progress questlines to the point where it's just Leda & Dane in this fight, you're doing it wrong, it's so much more fun & epic when you have Ansbach, Thiollier & your summon against Leda, Freya, Moore & Dane bringing it to a incredibly fun & evenly matched 4 vs 4.
All the dialogue exchange, different abilities coupled with the phenomenal music is hard to beat.
The first minute is absolutely gorgeous. Thank you for posting!

i love how the 2 that end up by your side at the end, Thiollier and Ansbach, are the only ones from the whole cast who doubted their abilities, yet showed their true strenth in the final fight and prevailed
“Congratulations, Monster”
As much as this fight sucks to deal with, this soundtrack is probably my new favorite in the whole game. You’re fighting a group of people whose love for Miquella runs so deep and boundlessly that it persists even as his godly charm fades. They love him because he gave hope to the downtrodden and the lonely.
Without Miquella, Leda has no master.
Without Miquella, Moore sees no reason not to remain sad forever.
Without Miquella, the Hornsent’s people will go unavenged forevermore.
Miquella gave these people something to fight for. He gave them something to LIVE for. He’s the last and only thing keeping them going, and you seek to put a stop to all of that. You, and only you, seek to put an end to their one remaining reason to live.
This music reflects that PERFECTLY. An absolute masterwork of storytelling in sound. 10/10 track for a 0/10 fight.
It's funny that you look at it that way. I viewed it as Miquella manipulating everyone causing this group of people some of whom would be friends otherwise into killing each other. Miquella probably doesn't even know or care at this point. Also with your influence you can change some to your side. I think 3?
@@JTtopcatyou could see it the opposite too. Everyone here would actually want to kill each other, hornsent, Ansbach, Leda, Freyja, etc… would never be on the same side unless Miquella was involved.
Of course the charm came into play. However only Ansbach and Thiollier rebel against Miquella if you do their quest lines but the rest either leave the realm of shadows like Hornsent or stay aligned with Miquella regardless of the charm.
If you don’t get involved all of them actually stay with Miquella except maybe Ansbach who would be killed my Leda. So that’s pretty good odds that Miquella isn’t 100% horrible since it’s the groups own free will.
@@JTtopcatIt’s the fact that they continue to follow him to their deaths after his rune (and godly allure) breaks that has me convinced there was real validity to whatever he promised them. Iirc Miquella wanted his rule to usher in an “Age of Compassion” where justice in kindness governed Order, which is why he chose Radahn to be his Elden Lord, so we know that pure power wasn’t his sole perogative and he had some sort of vested interest in the good of others.
We find a Miquella’s Cross in the Stone Coffin Fissure that reads “I abandon here my love.” I believe that “love” he abandoned would manifest in the form of St. Trina. The darker side of Miquella’s conquest could very possibly be owed to him sacrificing the love in his heart to become a god that would overpower the Golden Order. It’s likely that, though the Miquella we see is doing some fucked up shit, he is no longer representative of who Miquella used to be-the Miquella that Leda and her allies most likely rallied behind.
I finished dlc and was surprised to see people calling Miquella evil. Do they not read the text? Or do they come to watch spoiler videos without playing and make random comments?
@@kottotto5472 I can see a lot of inspiration for Griffith, even though he’s not a carbon copy of him. Miquella is only interested in his own interests. His followers may think that they are being aided by him, but the truth is that he seeks to be held Lord by any means necessary. if that means manipulating mohg to take his body and reincarnate his fallen brother, then so be it. If that means wielding, love to shrive clean the hearts of his followers, and use them as tools, so be it. His dream, by any means necessary.
Very similar to Griffith in appearance and motivation while still being distinct
At 2:21 my favorite part Starts playing.amazing sound track and figth
They actually made a gank fight peak fiction, I can't believe it.
I like what they did to npc questline. They made them more complex and have more outcomes with irises and in general their direct connection and not just the lore one. Not only that, they finally gave helping summons more flavor as now they say something when summoned
