Those races at the end of the year in the early 60's where very popular with many top line drivers from all king of classes.

I'm Bahamian and a racing fan, this is so fascinating.
A road named after the Marquis de Portago, called Portago Bend, still exists to this day.

I always wondered where they used to have these races and wondered why they stopped

Peter, I'm glad this made your day. I'll be adding more old films, plenty of variety. Thank you for your kind words.

That’s not Pedro that’s Roger Penske and AJ Foyt. I don’t know the other guy.

Wonderful vintage film. However I would like to clarify some of the commentary. At 22 seconds, the man identified as Dave MacDonald is Bob Holbert, father of another racing legend Al Holbert. At 34 seconds the three men conversing are a young Roger Penske and oilman John Mecom Jr owner of AJ Foyt's race car for this event.

Kevin, thank you for the clarification. If I may ask, how did you come to the conclusions? If you note any other errors in my other early motorsports films, I will be grateful to know. I have footage from the 1950 Watkins Glen event th-cam.com/video/4uXhjM1cr6I/w-d-xo.html 1951 Watkins Glen and Syracuse th-cam.com/video/txJkMPJVqRc/w-d-xo.html 1950 Bridgehampton th-cam.com/video/qW17MvRY_Vo/w-d-xo.html and more. Cheers.

Came here to say the same about Bob Holbert vs Dave MacDonald - I guess if you watch enough of these vintage videos, you start to recognize the faces! 😄 No complaints, though - the voiceover adds SO much to the film - great job, Reel Life, much appreciated!👏👏👏

Yeah, those track marshals were cooky back then. Too bad Chevy nerfed the Gran Sport Vette, Zoras' Vettes were serious challengers to the Cobras.

Is this the year that the Grand Sport Corvette came out and wiped the floor with all comers. Previous to this it was the Peril of the V8 Cobra!
