Timelapse showing the removal of Stocksbridge Weir in Deepcar, Sheffield on the Upper River Don. Music by: www.bensound.com License code: HQEW2MRVAP4HJ3A2
Hello, part of the weir was left to protect the outside bank on the bend from excessive erosion which would effect the footpath. What remains doesn't impeed fish migration and allows part of the heritage of the structure to be retained. Hope that helps explain why we only partially removed it. thanks, matt (Fishery habitat officer)
Very satisfying to watch. Great work.
Can we not plant willow to protect our banks from erosion?
Shame it didn't finish.
