Power is coming back to customers in the Sarasota area. I think so many workers coming in from other areas, expecting Milton to be much worse, are helping restore power and other utilities to the affected areas much quicker than, say, with Helene. I am glad Captain Street did a good job keeping your ship safe. Can you imagine what a pain it would be to work for a cruise line, rebooking people, right now? It must be a very stressful job. As far as not being able to keep couples together for flying home, customers should just be glad they are getting to go home. I went through this in April 2010 after the Icelandic volcano erupted. British Airways were putting people in whatever seats were available. I was put in a middle seat and i was glad for it. You’re right, Don, you have to roll with the punches.
I am glad that you docked safely- My condolences to those that lost their life during the hurricane/tornados and to those affected by the hurricane
It sounds like PRINCESS went way above and beyond to help.
Don, stay well, for more cruise, on the Sun! Lots of hot tea, honey and vitamin C.
Say hi to my friend Marilyn, on the next voyage tomorrow!! Bon Voyage!
We in Lakewood Ranch, near Sarasota - we’re very lucky, unfortunately not our airport and beaches! Prayers for those with major repairs.
Don, after watching your previous video and reading many of the comments, I appreciated your concern for the very sick people on board needing to get to medical attention more quickly than was happening before the Hurricane made landfall. You have been very unwell with your own significant health issues recently, and to me, your comments demonstrated a lot of empathy and concern for those waiting to be taken off the ship to hospital. In the end, Princess kept its passengers safe, and I hope all ships' patients survived the delays. Condolences to all those affected adversely by Milton, human and animal.💖
Great to hear they're taking care of their customers
thanks for your updates
Hi Don I was saying to your pal Tony how sad it was what happened in Florida I hope you and your fellow passengers have arrived safely and have a safe journey home cheers Don
Our prayers go out to the families that lost loved ones. Princess really stepped up and they are doing a fantastic job with there passengers.
Feel better. I’m glad you made it into Florida. Thank you for the update.
Hi Don, thank God you are in American waters safe.Good luck.
I got my power. Yippee. Lots of cleanup. 5 trees down, 5 acres to cleanup
Good information about the EZAir flights. Hopefully we will never encounter the flight disruptions because of a hurricane.
Hey Don I’m sorry about the people who lost lives in Florida sending prayers to Florida the things people go through when you cruise during hurricane season. At least your getting home safely may not be together but your getting home. This is why it’s very important to link your flight with the cruise line. Thanks Don for this video
I live in Orlando and had no damage. My friends in Tampa got their power back today.
Glad your safe. What a mess. Hope things start smoothing out.
Appreciate your updates everyday. Hope you are not getting sick and it’s just AC/allergy issues.
Or some infection from that tooth
We were lucky just loss power 2 days. And food easily replace
Just got off the carnival dream out of Galveston weather was bad enough where it is unsafe to use water shuttle schedule to be at half moon cay october 9 was told the night before on october 8 that half moon cay we got another sea day because of it and it was fun
happy to hear you are safe
Boarding Wonder of the Seas Sunday Oct. 20 which is a week from tomorrow. Fingers crossed Port Canaveral will be back to normal by then.
According to the Port Canaveral Website:
PORT CANAVERAL IS OPEN: As of 11:30 AM, The U.S. Coast Guard Captain of the Port has set Port Condition Four for Port Canaveral. The Port is OPEN with NO restrictions. Waterside and landside operations are normal. Jetty Park day park and beach reopens Saturday morning, Oct 12 at 7 AM, however, the Jetty Park Campground and Fishing Pier will remain closed until further notice.
Thanks Don that is why I always book air with Princess.
I hope u feel better soon!
Hope you feel better!!
Be careful with American Airlines. They have lost our luggage on the last 4 flights we had with them. Because of my air tags I was able to tell them where the luggage was.
I always put an air tag in my suitcase. I use my AirTags for car keys and house key great if you can’t find them in a hurry.
So glad that you are safe and your family. All other family cruisers on your ship. I was on a cruise with RC 2 WEEKS ago. With Helena that ship captain keep us out in the Atlantic comer waters. We left and returned out forth Lauderdale. In all had a very nice cruise. But happy to hear you all are safe.
One time I arrived at Saginaw for a 20 minute flight to Detroit. Detroit was fogged in so about 10 small jets were sent to Saginaw. Saginaw has 5 gates. When it was finally time to go, they told everyone to get on the planes and find any seat. When a jet filled up it took off.
I’m appreciative of repeat information. A chart with advantages and drawbacks to using a cruise line’s services, like flights/hotels, would be a great resource to have on hand.
Thanks for the updates with no moaning. Feel better soon Don.
Thanks for giving some perspective on the fallout of a hurricane and how it affects travel.
Happy belated Birthday Don!!🎈🎂🌴
Happy Birthday, hope your next cruise is more fun than work.
Thanks Don
Sadly death toll is higher than 4 now, and flood waters are still rising along rivers. Good news is power crews are doing a good job of getting power back on.
Safe travels home
Ihave 2 cousins from Bradenton and 2 cousins inland. When we saw the tornadoes we were stunned. Texas is the land of tornadoes and we have never handled tornadoes like that. My neighbor wondered who told that hurricane tornadoes were party favors. And the death tolls are no where near finals. Texas is sending electric restoretion help and policemaen and firemen and red cross. To florida. I dont remember that happening to the extent it did this time.
Keep up the good work!
My week long vacation booked months ago, to begin tomorrow, Oct 13, was cancelled. It was just a couple miles from the cruise port. The resort still has no power, no one answering phones, etc. So many areas are still under water. The Stuart, FL area had 5 deaths from a tornado. That is a bit north of West Palm Beach.
I live only 3 hours from my planned vacation spot, 2 hours north of Tampa. Come hell or high water, I would have rowed my boat to get there tomorrow. I planned on getting there early in order to see the 12:12 PM rocket launch taking place.
Since everything is closed, no vacation for a few weeks.
It's fine.
I'm safe and content to look forward to my trip when it happens.
When you realize everything isn't all about you, you figure out what you do next, even if it just means waiting.
I hope everyone is getting the assistance they need. ❤
My parents used to have a condo in Stuart. So sad to hear of those that lost their lives.
Orlando is not a cruiseport Don.
I read that Tampa cruise port reopened at 10 am local time October 12th.
Love you dearly, don…and I’m not trying to be impolite or insulting, but a minor correction here….eT cetera…
Was on the harmony of the seas it got a little rough but not to bad
Was captain Johnny at the helm?
Glad you are safe - sorry you have a slight stuffy throat.
I remember hurricane Dorian a few years ago, striking the west side of the Florida coast just parking for two days and then going north similar situation here
Hope you’re feeling better. Thanks Don
Hey Don my wife loves listening to you. Glad you’re back.
@@robbieolson4590 That's funny 😆
Yeah, I won't be cruising!
It was more than 4 people who died in the tornado.
Thanks for updates
Glad you made it back safely!
Tornados are normal in strong hurricanes. They usually occur in the upper right quadrant relative to the forward direction of the storm. It's disconcerting when you're constantly getting tornado warnings on top of the main storm.
Don't be getting sick! The weather has been so crazy. Kind of a covid for cruises.
Hopefully they can pull through this. But the ships still are getting bigger. Go figure!😊
I know you talked about doing a bus tour around the us and then doing a princess cruise o July of 26 I haven’t heard any more about it
Being safe is the most important
Hi Don have a fun time after this
my friend is still without power and their company TECO says next Thursday. They live 20 minutes outside of downtown Tampa.
Hi Don
Which line do you think is better NCL or Princess
Always enjoy your info🎉
Thinking of those who were in harm's way. Enjoy the rest of your time on board.
as a person who has been through multiple typhoons in my life (including being actually inside one whilst at sea), tornadoes are pretty common in such weather, but usually they are fairly small and do not really add to the overall damage so much.
seems like here the tornadoes were rather strong in comparison with the storms power.
also, I guess a lot of the infrastructure is just quite poorly built, I mean, where I was, the wind speeds were sometimes significantly more, and even so, the wind damage was really not that bad... obviously, it was always the flooding that did 90% of the damage. I was lucky never to have been flooded myself, though we did have to wade through water a few times to get somewhere afterwards.
We hear there are more storms expected in the Caribbean in the next few weeks. We are booked on MSC Seashore October 27th for 7 nights leaving from Port Canaveral. A friend wants to join us but is afraid of another storm. Have you heard of any Caribbean storms in the forecast in the next 3 weeks? Where can we get more detailed info?
Hurricanes specially cat. + do cause tornadoes even on our Caribbean islands
We booked through EZ-Air however, getting to BOISE, ID wasn’t going to work with 37 minutes between landing and takeoff in Atlanta. That not withstanding the Atlanta flight was already delayed so we knew we wouldn’t make the Boise flight as booked. Luckily, my wife did some searching and found an earlier flight to Atlanta that we were lucky enough to get on standby. We were even able to sit together by changing seats with the person on the row ahead of one or the other of us. We got to Boise around 10:30 and home by 11. The cruise rep, when we asked about the time between flights on the last evening told us the only thing we could do was check at tje airport - not helpful, though we were lucky.
Regarding the Sun Princess, we will NOT be booking another cruise on this ship. The auditorium was basically the same size as a ship half the size, they took out things other of their ships have, putting green not just a roll up Matt spread out in a dining room. Ping pong table(s) inside not on a deck with ?? Mph winds (depending on ship and wind speeds), although that does make for an interesting game. Also, no library, though they did put books and games out for a few hours in one of the dinning rooms. Overall, the ship is too big,
Feel better Don
No cruise port in Orlando - its port canaveral -
That's very good of them
Happy Birthday Don l know a day late.
Sorry to hear you may be coming down with a cold.
Someone from my work is on a cruise now supposed to be back on Saturday the 12th in Tampa I don't see that.
Hope you get to feeling better ❤
All well and good for the cruise lines to say that they're sending people back on the earliest flights, but if you're separating families or even couples, and there isn't transportation home, what then? You have people who live hundreds of miles away from their airport and drove together and now are expected to leave each other and make that round trip again? Not good.
Air conditioning does that to my hubby too.
Thanks
Oh boy
This is a positive channel and I appreciate your perspective of the cruise new and updates.😊
It was awesome 👍
Separating husband and wife is unacceptable!!!! Separating other people in a group is annoying but understandable under the circumstances
with the class change
hopefully they do realize that having older people on board, for some it is not a question of comfort or luxury to fly a certain class, but a risk mitigation strategy for medical conditions. it is well proved that people with an elevated risk of clot and/or cholesterol induced hemorrhages (with certain conditions) may very significantly lower their health risk by investing in a Business class (Flatbed-seat) ticket.
hopefully there is some understanding of the kind of flyer for whom economy class is a genuine medical risk but who find the ability to still travel.
good luck
Jacksonville Port is open
I thought the death toll was at 17?
Don does not care.
😮Hi Don.
Don please have a Covid test jic. Be safe…
4 people? 😮Many more people lost their lives due to Milton.
Don does not care.
That’s all Don had heard before doing this video. Of course he cares.
What is Easy Air?
Thanks for your update, again, Don. Looking at the countless videos we've seen from the two hurricanes, Helene and Milton, it looks like some terrible damage has afflicted thousands. Our prayers and thoughts go out to those affected. Can totally understand that Princess would do all it could to get passengers back home quickly and safely as possible, that's why we favor that Cruiseline. Hope you continue to have a good time celebrating on the Sun Princess, Don. I take it you aren't going on a 3 day cruise as previously thought!!! Stay well!!!
Orlando and tpa
"Shit Happens."
Don. Pay attention. You're on a cruise. Got symptoms? Take a covid test. Also, apologize for your comments two days ago. Listen up!
Thanks for the update Don! Keep up the good work. Your report is very helpful
Tornadoes always occur with hurricanes! That is one of the main reasons damage occurs for hundreds of miles around the eye of the hurricane; the other is flooding. Gas is still difficult to find, MANY communities do not have functioning water purification systems, groceries and restaurants are not restocked, those who evacuated are now trying to return home, etc. People whose homes have been destroyed are in need of interim housing, etc. While Fort Lauderdale was not affected, north and west of Miami was.
FAR MORE than 4 were killed in Milton, and many people in western Florida were affected by Helene AND Milton!
Ummmm, being put on a different flight to your wife, yes that could work LOL😂
Sarasota bad
Hey Don, glad to see you are doing well and still enjoying the Ship, Did Tony make it over to be with you this weekend on the weekend Cruise.
You should take a Covid test.
Tornado s
Better test for covid
are cruise passengers still moaning and complaining?
Welcome back 🎉
I hope you feel better soon.
Hope your cold gets better.
